4.88.5 - Spring Update

This is the third of several in a series of modular updates, which are aimed at fixing storyline stagnation and system bloat. As with the others, many (see below) regional leaders and lore nuts were consulted. Several excess systems have been removed, with others altered, relinked, and/or repurposed.

These came in four packages, which is how they were organized on our massive change spreadsheets. Instead of listing updates by system, faction, and base changes like I did last time, I'll do it by package order.

Nota Bene: Some faults have already been noticed. FLCompanion will register a false positive error (FLEngine doesn't like the Dyson Sphere, but it works), a new base is missing, and FLCompanion will see a lot of connections from the removed systems, which will also go away in the near future. A maintenance hotfix patch is planned to be released before too long


Kusari Update
To conclude the changes snuck in alongside the Gallia and Rheinland Updates (4.88.1, 4.88.4), north, central, and east Kusari have been done, as well as the Sigmas. Oita and Tau-65 have been removed. Okinawa's connection to Kusari has been changed from Honshu to Hiroshima, better including the latter system within Kusari's gate network and getting rid of an apparent trade triangle balance issue. Two more Sigmas were added, one being a "finished" Luneburg and the other recycled from Ellesmere, but completely different. Sigma-59 and Hiroshima are fully "de-guarded" and Kusari is now fully ready for its civil war to ensue. Additionally, our system developers wish you to know that Sigma-59 looks really cool, so plan a visit with Orbital Spa and Cruise stop by soon.


Omegas+Hispania, Omicron Cleanup
These two were originally one, but were split up to reduce their size, and thus the stress placed upon our system developers. They reorganize the Omegas a bit to flow better and be less of a tangled web, shorten the Alpha-Gamma route, and remove some excess Omicrons. Hispania space has been restructured to resemble small houses, with local "corporate" and "unlawful" bases to populate their systems and a bottleneck/chokepoint at their capitals. The Reapers of Sirius have been granted an additional main purpose to fulfill, and a pair of external bases to help them be an accomplished faction. The Development Team will keep an eye on this group to see if they become active again, or not.


Nomicrons Update
Built off the concepts that started in late 2014 and expanded upon, the Nomad systems (as well as Order and Core space) have been reworked. Much of the looks, connections, and content have been adjusted. There will be plenty to explore within the Omicrons now.


Balance Changes
- Buffed Gunboat Pulse Cannon projectile velocity (750m/s up to 900m/s)
- Buffed Gaian VHF, renamed to "Anaconda" (10,200 up to 12,200 hull; 60 up to 70 regens)
- Buffed "Bustard" Civilian Light Carrier cruise speed (290 up to 350)
- Buffed "Plier" GMS Super Heavy Fighter (firing arcs improved)
- Buffed "Orca" BHG Gunboat handling (responsiveness increased; maximum turn rate slightly increased)
- Buffed Golden Chrysanthemum "Blossom" Heavy Fighter handling (responsiveness increased)
- Buffed Kusari "Komainu" Battlecruiser loadout (added two additional Heavy Cruiser Turret slots to match ship class)
- Adjusted Base Construction Platform thrust and impulse speed to ship class standard (from 80:200 over to 100:160)
- Adjusted Nomad Gunboat impulse and thrust speed changed to Gunboat ship class standard
- Adjusted Core "Thresher" Destroyer (size rescaled to match light cruisers; armor increased to compensate; regens increased to compensate)
- Adjusted Rheinland Military "Wraith" Very Heavy Fighter (turret moved back to the rear end of the ship, does not fire in forward arcs; roll torque reverted to 55,000)
- Adjusted Blood Dragons "Togo" Battleship primary turret arcs (fires four rear and five forward)
- Adjusted Kusari "Ashikaga" Gunboat (model downscaled to 0.8x previous size; two Class 4 Turret hardpoints removed; base hull increased from 95,000 up to 100,000)
- Adjusted Kusari "Takeda" Destroyer (model downscaled to 0.9x previous size; hitbox redone; base hull decreased from 320,000 down to 280,000; powercore changed from light to medium)
- Adjusted Borderworlds "Sabre" Very Heavy Fighter shield hitbox (modified to be closer to VHF standard)
- Adjusted no2 Light Fighter shield class mount (up to Class 9)
- Adjusted Gammu AI Cruiser (hitbox redone; crosshair moved; features shield hitbox)
- Nerfed Gammu AI Drone (massive reduction in powercore; reverse speed reduced to ship class standard)
- Nerfed Border Worlds "Switchblade" Heavy Fighter (responsiveness reduced; regen count reduced)
- Nerfed Outcast "Storta" Destroyer (22,000 down to 20,000 strafe force (4.86 revert); 350,000 down to 300,000 hull; 850 down to 750 regens)
- Nerfed Corsair "Centurion" Very Heavy Fighter maximum shield class (10 down to 9 (Heavy Fighter))


Model Changes
- Outcast "Storta" Destroyer model rolled back
- Golden Chrysanthemum "Blossom" Heavy Fighter model rolled back
- Gaian "Chameleon" Heavy Fighter reintroduced


Equipment Changes
- Gaian "Chameleon" Heavy Fighter available for sale on Islay Base, Edinburgh
- Adjusted equipment dealers on GRN occupied Planet Leeds, as well as Battleships Carcassonne, Betheny, Embrun, Castres, Dax and Guillestre


Effects Changes
- Class 7 Flashpoints now have a blue muzzleflash and impact
- Red Hessian class 7 Natterturn reverted to its old effect
- Blood Dragon class 8 Daito received a new effect
- Blood Dragon gunboat forward gun received a new effect
- Blood Dragon cruiser forward gun received a new effect
- Gallic gunboat forward gun received a new effect
- Golden Chrystanthemum class 8 Suncannon D received a new effect
- Kusari Civilian class 8 Cleansers KP-2 received a new effect
- Kusari Lawful class 7 Disinfectors received a new effect; meant to differentiate from the class 8
- Kusari "Takeda" Destroyer received a resized engine effect, which now properly fills out the engine exhaust
- Gas Miners Guild class 8 Skyblast B received a new effect
- Heavy Mortar and Mortar reverted to their old effects (Light Mortars remain the same)
- Heavy Trebuchet reverted to its old effect
- (Regular) Trebuchet received a smaller version of the Heavy Trebuchet effect (Light Trebuchet remains the same)
- Liberty Rogue class7 Belial received a new effect
- Added a purple smoke thruster to all Wild equipment dealers
- The 750m/s debilitator effect was reverted to its old version
- Crayter Republic gunboat primaries received a new effect
- Corsair cruiser primaries received a new effect
- Corsair gunboat primaries received a new effect
- Rabisu "tentacle" effects fixed, no longer ugly when viewed by others



4.88.5 Hotfix 1 -- 5/12/2016

Bugfixes

- Numerous mislabeled objects corrected
- Some ship stat infocards corrected
- Coalition shipdealer at Zhukovsky fixed
- Dur Shurriken now dockable
- Sigma 15 crash bug fixed
- AI Snubcraft equipment now purchasable again
- Fixed a crash bug in Omicron 100

Changes

- Old Mortar & Trebuchet impact effects readded
- Omicron Lost NPCs limited to a 5k radius around the Major hole

- Fixed equipment dealers on Amenta, Corinth, Gammu, Livadia, Apache, and Ciutadella
- Fixed ship dealer on Livadia.
- Kassel FINALLY uses dockable Jormungand archetype.
- Instakill zones for Major. Sorry, no flying outside the tunnels for you!
- Dur Shurrikun commodity trader is no longer offering jobs. Check back later.
- Sigma 15 populated and given mission zones.
- Omicron 91 deguarded, missions added.
- Alpha graveyard restored, along with unstable nomad jumphole.
- NPCs in Omicron Xi deguarded
- Omicron Gamma jumpholes reoriented.
- Moved deleted systems to the lost sector. They won't be bothering us anymore. Mission commission signing off.

Changes

- Large cleanups to Omicron Kappa.
- Nagano slightly redesigned, full redesign coming later.
- Nav bouys now appear on the navmap.
- Jump hole/gate navmap icons scaled up for us blind people.
- Music changes to many systems to match their respective regions
- Sigma 13/Munich jump link removed.
- Totorri jumphole moved to C3 at the edge of the Seiran cloud.
- Added new commodities; Ambassadors, Arbiters, Diplomats, Socialities.

Bloody hell, why? This was the most beautiful ship in the mod with the exception of the pilot's legs sticking out.

Not gonna say if I'm happy with the changes yet, but having a quick glance on FLcomp it looks pretty interesting.
Awwww yuuuuus Komainu's buff'd! I was waiting for it so bloody long!
Also, thanks for those new Omicrons and old morty effects back, tho lookin' through the bug report, they're need to be fixed.

I dont understand. Why nerf Storta instead of giving it a heavy powerplant? If somethings gonna be balanced then it needs to be balanced right, Storta already have catastrophic gun arc problems as it is.
Storta model got rolled back to what?
Nice update, where is the COALITION BATTLESHIP PRIMARY GUN EFFECT?
That effect waiting to added to the game nearly 4 months come on!

Also I made that Crayter GB Primary Effect and credited ?
