I feel the identity of the attacker may not be revealed at all - after all, if it's a member of the discovery community then they'd be lynched (a facetious comment). Either way, some information when the situation is over would be great. Let's hope the server is not damaged.

Most likely from someone who just has way too much time on their hands - and got banned for doing something against the rules.

If I understand this correctly, majkp runs a small ISP? Maybe this downtime has nothing to do with Discovery - a rival ISP possibly? Or just someone who is pissed off at life in general?

Backups are also made every server restart for character data, I think.

Guys, the admins already said, there's no blaming anyone until we have proof. We do not have proof Tenacity did this, and I personally think it's unlikely from what I know of him.
More likely some nooblet hacker who was upset at being killed/banned.

How exactly were you attacked? Virusses somehow infested the server, DDoS'ing, Admin takeover screwing stuff around, or did they actually come to your house and started hitting things?

Surely as much as that is known...

Could also be a Brute Force attack via Botnets, very nasty kind of attack... Denial of Service is a git.

Server hack can also be possible by perhaps a group of people who are jealous of Discovery's success and the fact that we have more then 100 people playing on here at any given time and the membership on this server boasts of more then 35,000 players. Maybe they are some new modders vying for more playership on their servers.

Its stupid and mindless to attack a gaming server. They should have tried hacking Yahoo chat servers instead, haaa!!!
