The Council is a powerful Gallic organization that secures the political heritage of Mouvement de Liberation Gaulois (Gallic Liberation Movement), which was disbanded by King Louis IV in 720 A.S.

Initially a secret society inside the Movement, The Council began to absorb many of the former Liberalists after 720 A.S., acting almost openly and growing in numbers and in strength exponentially both on populated planets and in space. Considering the intentional isolation from the rest of the Sirius colonies a grave mistake that greatly harms the well-being of the whole nation, the Council has been fighting a war since 794 A.S. To break through the isolation and prevent the inter-house war planned by the Gallic royal dynasty and the Gallic Royal Navy.

The Council is comprised of former Navy and Police officers as well as civilians. It cares greatly about its reputation in the public eye, never attacking civilian convoys, passenger liners or trading ships unless provoked. Although its members are considered outlaws by Gallic officials, many civilians secretly sympathize with their goals, or even support them, financially or otherwise..

Over the many decades since the original outlawing in 720, many factions inside The Council have vied for control, for reasons ranging from political dispute, to power, to the prestige that would follow the defeat of Royalist forces and deposing of the monarchy. This led many to fear that the Crown would be removed, merely to be replaced by a yet another fractured and self serving autocracy, commanded by the warlord that had last wrested control. That could not be allowed to happen.

In the early months of 801, Amiral Arthur Levesque toured the Council lines, giving a bout of inspiring speeches, calling for reform and a new united front. His message? The need for a well planned and executed government was just as important as the fight against the Royalists itself. The Republique movement was born, with the Armee de la Republique ready to safeguard the Council war effort, and the Republique de Gaule ready to take on the early administrative work of the fledgling government.

Since those early days, the Republique movement has grown to represent the dominant force of the Council militarily, politically and philosophically. The driving force behind the group historically and presently has always been the powerful and overwhelming desire to implementa true Gallic Republic; an administration elected by the people, for the people.

The Republique de Gaule has long stated that once their position had been further consolidated, an election would be held for the first president of the Republique. Pilots, serving soldiers and civilians that had pledged allegiance to the Council would be eligible to vote.

The president they elected would then hold office for the full term of five years, or until victory was attained, allowing the entire population of Gallia to cast its vote. The significance of this vote would be stunning the transference of ultimate command over the Councils agenda from the Armee de la Republique to the people of Gallia for the first time in Gallia's entire history. Republique sources indicate that they are now preparing for the d'abord vote. It is now only a matter of time before the ballot papers are ready..

Republiques stance with Sirius

The Republique see potential allies within Sirius. Although they've had hard times with a local sirian pirate group known as the Outcasts, the Council have not yet faced immediate hostile relations with any of the Sirian locals, and have in fact been receiving supplies from certain groups. The Republique will lend a hand to any Sirian vessel requesting assistance, as it has in the past. This, the Republique, believes will help strengthen ties with their reunited brothers-in-arms from Sirius.

High Command consists of three Amirals which oversee the entirety of the Armee de la Republiques operations. Due to the war, these three Amirals believe that opposing and eventually defeating the Crown and its forces are the first and foremost of the many vital steps leading to the formation of a truly free republic that they and the citizens of Gallia desire. Although currently nominally commanding the entirety of the Republique de Gaule, leadership will confer to the elected president upon the elections conclusion.

IPB Image

Flotte Unie With recent developments, the High Command thought it better to have both the Northern and Southern fleets united until the crown can be dealt with on two separate fronts. As Council controlled space is currently split in half, a northern and a southern fleet would suffice. But currently, neither fleet has the resources or man power to continue fighting on two solid fronts.

Flotte du Nord Also known as the Northern Fleet, this fleet is supervised by Amiral Jean-Francois Dassault. The Fleet primarily operates up in Champagne and other northern Gallic systems, however, it is known that Northern fleet pilots have been seen fighting side by side with Southern fleet pilots. Unlike it's battle hardened sister fleet, this fleet consists of vast majorities of new and veteran pilots.

Flotte du Sud Also known as the Southern Fleet, this fleet is supervised by Amiral Arthur Levesque. The Fleet primarily operates in Languedoc and other southern Gallic systems, however, it is known that Southern fleet pilots have been seen fighting side be side with Northern fleet pilots. The Southern Fleet is the battle hardened sister fleet of the Northern Fleet.

Direction Generale de la Securite Interieure Known by it's initials the DGSI, it is the primary intelligence service of the Republique de Galle. Other then that, it's operations are secret. It is believed to be ran and headed by Amiral Bernard Sordeau.

Firebase Alpha -- Planet Marne, Champagne System

Firebase Alpha (FSBA) is located on Planet Marne at a former Royal Army military base which was captured during the fall of Planet Marne to the Council in the years leading up to 801 AS. Currently this firebase is acting as the headquarters for the war against the Royal Navy in space. Although facilities on the base were lost during the bloody fighting on Marne, by constant shelling, both from the land and from orbit, many of its major facilities were left intact, those that were heavily damaged have been repaired or are being repaired still.

Avant-garde Bravo -- Reims Station, Champagne System

Reims Station in the Champagne system acts as the Avant-garde, or forward guard, to the Champagne system. It is one of the first early warning systems and relays that runs throughout the system. Due to being in close proximity to both the Burgundy Jumpgate and Burgundy Jumphole. At the moment, Reims Station is on constant alert for any incursion that may find their way into Champagne. Having the ability to launch multiple fighters and bomber wings when needed.

Firebase Charlie -- Planet Quillan, Languedoc System

Firebase Charlie (FSBC), located on Planet Quillan is another former Royal Army military base which was captured during the fall of Planet Quillan to the Council in the uprising that had happened on Quillan. Although this base was less damaged than that of its counter-part on Marne, it currently faces constant threats of being orbital bombarded by Royalist ships. Although the southern fleet is doing it's best to keep any orbital bombardment at bay. Which is resulting in heavy losses against the Crown's fleet.

Avant-garde Delta -- Nimes Station, Languedoc System

Just like it's sister station in Champagne, Nimes Station acts like a Avant-Garde, Although this station has a lot of civilian traffic going to and from it, Council ships reinforce much of it's surrounding areas. Nimes station is capable to launching multiple fighter and bomber wings on a moments notice.

Firebase Echo -- Macon Station, Burgundy System

Firebase Echo, the largest station in Gallia. The fact it has literally been made out of an asteroid makes it one of the best firebases the Council has to offer. Macon Station has a vast number of Military and Civilian personal living onboard it. This station provides the same repairing and rearmament facilities as the other fire bases do, and acts as a staging ground further incursions into Burgundy.

Arriere-garde Foxtrot -- Battleship Chaumont

A vast majority of the Council Fleet is stationed in Champagne, with exception to the Southern Fleet fighting and attempting to stall the Gallic Royalist fleet in Languedoc. The Battleship Chaumont is considered the Arriere-garde, or Rearguard, of the Champagne system. It defends the system from any Navy or Police incursions into Champagne from the nearby Lorraine system.

Republique Medals and Ribbons

Legion d'Honneur

Medal
Ribbon

Legion d'Honneur, or Ordre National de la Legion d'Honneur as it is formally known is officially recognised as the highest commendation the Requblique de Gaule can bestow. It is split into five tiers: Chevalier, Officier, Commander, Grand Officier and Grand'Croix, with each tier increasing in seniority and importance from left to right. It can be granted to both civil and military figures for actions of excellent conduct and supreme bravery. May not be granted to foreign nationals.

Ordre de la Liberation

Medal
Ribbon

The Order is solely awarded to Republique combatants by the Armee de la Republique, and is conferred to Heroes of The Liberation, for outstanding efforts to free Gallias people from the yoke of the monarchy. It is an exceptional honour, second only to the Legion d'Honneur. May not be granted to foreign nationals. May only be granted to RdG forces.

Medaille Militaire

Medal.
Ribbon

The M?edaille Militaire is a prestigious commendation granted by the Armee de la Republique to Republique combatants, and is correspondingly rarely granted. This medal has the unusual stipulation that it may only be granted to lower command Officers, for acts of courageous and outstanding leadership, while members of Mid and High Command are ineligible for the decoration. May not be granted to foreign nationals. May only be granted to RdG forces.

Ordre National du Merite

Medal
Ribbon

This Order is similar to the Legion d'Honneur, in that it is also composed of the 5 tiers Chevalier, Officier, Commander, Grand Officier and Grand'Croix. However, these awards are more liberally granted by the Requblique de Gaule, to both military and civil figures, for actions of merit to the Republique. The President of the Requblique de Gaule automatically inherits the title of Grand'Croix of the Ordre National du Merite. This is the highest commendation that may be awarded to foreign nationals.

Croix de guerre

Medal
Ribbon

The Croix, or Cross of War is awarded by the Armee de la Republique for actions of martial note in service to the Republique. The Croix de Guerre can be awarded to a single individual multiple times, upgrading the commendation received with each successive award. The award has 5 tiers, consisting of: the Bronze Star, Silver Star, Silver gilt Star, Bronze Palm and Silver Palm. May be granted to foreign nationals.

Ordre des Palmes Academiques

Medal
Ribbon

Traditionally it was granted by the Republique de Gaule for contributions to the fields of academia, culture and education. However, the Order of Academic Palms role is subtly altered during times of war in that an additional clause is added that will merit its award; exceptional efforts by civil and militaire personnel towards enlightening and educating the Republiques enemies via all and any mediums. May be granted to foreign nationals.

Croix du Combattant Volontaire

Medal
Ribbon

The Volunteer Combatant Cross is an award frequently granted by the Armee de la Republique to civilians and pilots of allied factions who have spontaneously taken up arms in the name of the Republique. In many cases, this award is merited by those who have courageously taken action against Royalist forces, of their own accord. May be granted to foreign nationals.

MJ-1 "Gecko" Council Light Fighter
Rank Required: Aspirant

The Gecko is an age old craft once used by the Police forces in it's day. Now, it's a war machine utilized by the Council to train new recruits. Many of these vessels have been newly mass produced by the Council with updated modern equipment.

MJ-2 "Agama" Council Heavy Fighter
Rank Required: Aspirant

The MJ-2 Agama, like all Council vessels, represents a long line of battle hardened fighters, refining the aged vessel with a modern design and equipment. Although the Agama was marked for replacement the moment the first salvos where exchanged, it is currently the main multi-role fighter the Council has to offer.

BJ-6 "Basilisk" Council Bomber
Rank Required: Aspirant

Largely unchanged from the models employed during the revolution, these aged spaceframes have undergone a number of subtle overhauls to the underlying structure. Displaying a grace and prowess that belies their ramshackle appearance, these vessels serve quick reminders to the unwary how they've managed their survival over the decades, and their enemy's defeat.

"Perilous" Council Gunboat
Rank Required: Lieutenant Commandant

Swift, deadly and replete with enough armament to scatter hostile forces to the void long before her gunports heat up; These aged vessels remain the backbone of the Council fleet.

"Obstinate" Council Cruiser
Rank Required: Capitanie

These vessels, many damaged and obsolete, maintain vigil over Council borders. However, beneath the veneer of scars and the corrosion of time resides the same ferocity and power that shrugged off forces that had foolishly considered themselves the greater.

"Redemption" Council Battleship
Rank Required: Vice Amiral

Battleships of the Valor class that the Council had gained to aid its cause come from different origins. Some are the earliest modifications of its class that were already decommissioned and brought to scrapyards when the Council marines boarded and captured them. Some are newer and much more powerful vessels that either had their crew defect from the Royal Navy to join the Council, or were disabled during the battles for the Champagne system and later repaired and re-pressurized in the docks of Chalons-en-Champagne and Reims. Nowadays, the battleships never leave the Champagne system, forming nearly impenetrable defense barrier for Marne that has become the home planet of the Council.

VEU-19 "Tarvos" Council Freighter
Rank Required: Civilian

The logistics wing of the Council, forever pressed to maintain shifting lines of supply to battlefield and firebase alike, found itself in the position of maintaining a freighter fleet rapidly succumbing to shortages of required parts and combat stress. To replace dependency upon a line of ships manufactured by the now enemy, the Tarvos was fashioned from an archaic Maquis design rooted in simplicity and ease of maintenance. Modern technological appointments and armaments have crafted a simple, yet effective, vessel.

ME-UH "Vache" Gallic Train
Rank Required: Civilian

As the territories of Gallia, even when aided by the usurped gate technologies of her sister colonies, continued to sprawl the need to move vast stores of precious resources from crop world to industrial, from smeltery to shipyard, grew ever more pressing. The simple core vessel, transporting a series of modular pods easily configured for the task at hand, quickly became the core staple of insterstellar house commerce.
While the divide has strained the easy acquisition of this vessel for some captains working to support Council efforts, the time honored pre-launch cry of "Fetchez La Vache" remains common in every port of Gallia.

1.) RdG members are to always roleplay first and fight second.
2.) Members are to remain in character in local, system and a majority of the time in group chat.
3.) If a situation can be resolved without filing a sanction report. Make sure its resolved that way. If a situation cant be resolved by communication and talking, let a High Command member look over the sanction report before filing one.
4.) Rule 0.0 is a MUST, respect your fellow players, theyre here to have fun. If you do something to annoy them, and they ask you to stop, you stop.
5.) RdG members with a trader are encouraged to financially support the faction.
6.) Listen to commanding officers.
7.) Read, Respect, and Understand Discovery Server and Forum rules.

The Council [C] is currently in negotiation with RdG with regards to a merger. This is why it is currently on hold as the request would most certainly change if we did merge. We will be sure to inform the community when our talks come to a conclusion.
Wolfs Ghost
RdG's High command all came to an agreement that a possible merger with the [C] was out of question due to conflicting interests, ideas, and opinions. Upon this decision we would like to continue with our proposal. So, feel free to post again, chaps!
Aphil
Well, I had a fantastic time with the RdG in Gallia. I visited and I RP'ed with Admiral B.Sordeau. Overall, I had a ton of fun. I approve of this faction. yes.gif
Altaris
Seriously good luck people. I created maquis basilisk yesterday, hope we will have nice RP with each other.
Exile
I've only had positive encounters with the RDG, and they seem to be much more active than any of their other competitors for officiality. Good luck guys. It'd be nice to have a official opponent.
Alley.
Actually it should be the [C] that fusion with thems, not the other way.
Shagohad
All the encounters, battles, and roleplays with the RdG have been amazing on their end. It's a shame I'm too loyal to the Crown to convert.

Neither side would agree to anything, so RdG's high command thought this was the better course. No point in bickering when you have people that like what you're trying to become.
Serpentis
Good Luck man, your going to need some of it.

But to be honest, this looks great, I really hope you'l get the official status wink.gif
Harison Irwin
All of my encounters with the RdG have been absolutely amazing, I think I'll remember my already fought and upcoming duels with you guys for a long time to come.

And as there's that new official faction rule, that say only one group can be official per NPC Faction, it was a hard choice between the RdG and the [C] But, I'd have to say the RdG is the one I'd prefer to have official.
Wolfs Ghost
Document was updated. Enjoy.
Exile
The overall constant activity of the RDG is something I'm looking for in an opponent. Interactions with both pending official Council groups have been good, but so far, the somewhat younger (but earlier to post) RDG takes the cake for me. A faction that's slightly different from the usual with actual goals, good people and a great spirit.
Implosion
Well, what can I say.Splendid job on the faction info.
Everything is thought out well.
What's more to it,your ingame performance is also great.Keep up the good work!
Athenian
500 million deducted.
Jansen
Ingame interactions with you were great, on both sides, yours and the enemies. Its hard to choose between the 2 Council Groups, but your idea as well as the way you convert them into ingame actions makes you my favorite.
Wolfs Ghost
We've cleaned up the document a bit and added a few more information.
TheOrangeButterfly
Document was a good read, keep it up! Had some great RP with jammi (ruiz de ramper) in Burgundy today on my |IDF. It's hard to argue your moral highground tongue.gif You have my vote over the [C] any day.

Updated

- Added Medals/Ribbons
- Updated the High Command text
- Updated the New Government text
- Updated The Council text
- Updated and Added Roleplay and Communications section.

I would like to thank those of you that have supported this faction since the beginning. We will not disappoint you.
Neronian
As expected from Murphy, another precisely detailed and well thought-out piece of Roleplay. The wall of text is separated nicely, (The graphics being a nice break as well), and the content is even better. What's better than a giant wall of text you ask? An all-encompassing backstory, synopsis, and purpose, giving life to a budding Faction in a budding sector of space? Sure, why not. Granted, I have been away for a period of time, but I know all of the listed members of this faction by Reputation, as bona-fide RP'ers of exceptional skill. Every aspect of the Faction is drawn out in length, with every section, even the Ranks, containing their own sub-description. Overall, the amount of detail put into this document is astounding, and I'm excited to see where it goes from here. Consider my full support, Yours.

Gheis Mace
I've been meaning to post my support here for some time now. Whatever little it might contribute, I'm 100% behind you folks. Every encounter I've had with your members, whether solo or in a group setting, has been fantastic and fun.

Keep it up.
Emolution
Just for you to know, I'm still holding up for you guys, even though everything happened.
Wolfs Ghost
After much discussion in the RdG chat, we've come to the conclusion that it is in the best interest of the faction itself to dissolve and disband. The main reason behind this was the lack of drive to be active. Elements of the RdG will still exist, and the characters behind the Republique Flag will still most likely be around, though the faction itself isn't.

As for the RdG's small capital fleet, I have yet come to the conclusion on what I was going to do with our cruiser and gunboat. We'll most likely donate them to the [C] if they wish to take them. The Charles Gaule, RdG's flag ship has gone rogue so to speak, and disappeared. I'll be writing a roleplay regarding this later.

I give my best wishes to Teschy and his council group.

See here for in roleplay disbandment.

(P.S. Not sure what happens when a faction disbands during it's application viewing process, could an admin confirm whether or not the faction has it's 500 million returned to it. If it does, please send the money to the RdG|Armoury.)
