What's the deal with "Cuban Cigars" the ones you see in films and alike, why are they almost impossible to get a'hold of?

Also, what is teh differance between the massive "cuban" cigars and the "imitation" cigars? Both seem to smoke the same (to me at least) and yet the price is.. vastly differant.

Oh, Also does anyone have a more reliable source of said smoking products?

If you're looking for them, I suggest looking at Cuba, or somewhere close. Like Florida.

The reason they're so gorram expensive is because they're pretty good... and because, due to the American embargo on trade with them, you just can't get them legally in the U.S., AFAIK.

In other countries, story may be different.

And why are they illegal in the USA? I always wondered, it's just Tobacco, right?

US put an embargo on Cuba. Ergo, Cuban products=no no. Why? They thought they could put the pressure on Castro, but that obviously didn't work.

Ive got a question: why would you pose this question to a gaming community when it's better to ask this question on a forum somewhere that's specifically dedicated to & populated by people that consider cigars their hobby?

Also, since you've got internet, why not use it & find some answers yourself?

I did about 5 minutes of surfing & found nothing that said cuban cigars are illegal in your area, so it shouldn't be that tough to find a reputable importer.

Just know that 90% of the popularity of them stems from the fact that they are illegal to buy & sell in the US & because it's human nature to desire what you can't have, there are more people that want them than there are people that grow & roll them. THAT is why they are so expensive.

Now, many people claim that cuba makes the best cigars because they have the perfect climate for growing tobacco in much the same way that many people claim that france makes the best wine because they have the perfect climate for growing grapes.

They may make a fine cigar, but most of the money you would shell out to buy a box goes to pay for the hype that surrounds them.

You have your classic jerkoff's and your quiet ones, then you have the ones made of purewin. I ask here as many people do smoke such things along with .. many... "illegal" substances, Not to mention i loathe forums.


Also, I managed to get a few of each of the said items in question, it is almostimpossible from my searching around to get anything large enough to fill a proper cigar box.. Which is why again, I turned to the colourfull Discovery Gaming Community.

So if anyone Does know of such a supplier and maybe a little more info, i'd aprecate it.

Fake Cuban cigars, in my inexpert opinion, are the exact same as genuine Cuban cigars. I've had both, and cannot tell a difference. Fakes are usually just rolled the same way, often by the same people, but either made, or shipped through another country to avoid the supremely stupid embargo.

Then again, there are some terribly done fakes. Had one while in Mexico a few years back and it just came apart whilst smoking.

I'm not even a huge fan of them, given the price. And I only smoke with a good beer, it brings out the flavour nicely. Not sure what kind of beer a Cuban is supposed to be paired with, but I prefer Romeo y Julieta with my darker ales. Nice price, tasty cigar.

Chenzo, If you really want to learn about cuban cigars, you need to not be lazy & get off your ass to do some simple research up to & including talking to cigar fans in cigar forums & not a roomful of gamer geeks such as ourselves here in a gaming forum.

Cuban cigars are not chemically treated like the most of other blends...they DNA has not been changed either...clime is best for that kind of tobacco..and of course there is a US blockade...did i mentioned hand-made prestige...?
And they are to be used with brandy or whiskey-not with beer...that's a big no-no...

My attitude is quite fine thank you.

I posted a valid statement asking why a person would find any reason whatsoever to ask something like buying cuban cigars on a gaming forum. And then I added a little dash of my own thinking there. Perfectly reasonable and fine if you ask me.

You will see that it was him who wanted to immediately start throwing in random insults regarding my Faction and me as a person so in essence it was his own fault and I simply played along just to see how angry he would become. Pimpernel, I don't really care one damn about spelling, I just knew it would sting at him. Call it, giving a little medicine of his own.

Cabulb, do not try to portray yourself as superior than me or anybody else (which you constantly tend to do) because it really doesn't making you look any better. People are free to make judgments about me or anybody else by simply reading our posts, you do not need to tell them what to think, I believe they can do that on their own.

Granted, I still find it hard to believe that you can't find a more appropriate area such as a forum dedicated for cigar smoking or a million of other sites that surely are bound to tip him in the right direction.

Hoping a person on Discovery would tell him where to buy Cuban cigars is pretty damn stupid if you consider the other possibilities of getting answers. Which would leave you to the only conclusion that he wants to inform everybody that he likes doing cigars. It's really that simple.

You got people from all around the world here and most of them are connected via a space ship game, then you compare that to for example a forum which is about cigar smoking as a hobby. I wonder which one can inform you these kind of questions with most accuracy. Finding one takes you ten seconds as well, so it's not a matter of being lazy. It takes more time to write on the forums here considering how slow it is.

I don't gennerally smoke, just every now and then it's nice to have a smoke, ordenary packs of smokes like lamberts seem to burn to nothing after ten seconds, I don't like the taste of many ther brands, therefore if anything i am simply experementing to find something I really "like". Make sence ?


In answer to your last question, I do indeed hate forums, however inbetween work (which i am currently on holiday from) social stuff and alike, times when i am bored at home gaming or screwing around here seems like a good thing to do.

Having an avatar and asking the community for smoking advice and where you can find a good "dealer" is one hell of a difference. It falls under the same level of stupidity as asking for medical advice here.

Doesn't necessarily mean that, he could simply be informing the community that he likes to either try it out, or that he has previously have tried it out and wants to take something more "luxurious".

I believe i said earlier, I am meerly experimenting with differant smoking products. various ciggies taste nasty ones that taste nicer burn down after ten seconds.

I am not even a regular smoker, so the "ooutragous" cost of said smoking products like these fancy cigars actually evens out with how offen they are smoked, or rather how offen they aren't.
