Okay from what I got form my last cruiser the hessian cruiser is supposed to be a lumbering brute.
Big, slow, old.

I took it in a little different fashion though.

I created this ship, it has more in common with a mining ship then a cruiser.
SO the story I thought up went something like this.
It's an old outdated mining ship, it has a massive hull mounted laser cannon that used to be use to blast large asteroids to pieces. Back during the founding of sirius companies needed to use whatever they could get, and blasting a large asteroid to pieces to get at it's core where the most minerals are usually found was the most feasible, and cheapest way to do it. Moving around, and moving far to search for more accessible minerals wasn't practical at the time. Thus the "Rock Hammer" was created. It was rugged, heavily armored and armed to be able to smash apart it's target and stake it's claim at the minerals inside. Since there was little shielding back in those days the hull was made 3 times the thickness of average mining ships today, and the power plant was designed for a vessel much much larger. Its only weakness was it's slow lumbering engines. This combination made it great at what it did, but with the advances in trade lane technology and better engine design and jumpgates, companies no longer needed to use whatever was nearest to their resource centers. They could move far and transport their mining operations to the easiest debris fields where resources are plenty.

The Rock hammer quickly fell out of love in the eyes of the Rheinland corporations who birthed them. Operating cost became to high, and renewing their Rock Hammer fleets would cost more then just building newer ships. So over time each ship was scrapped. Many of their massive hulls left derelict and floating in the places no one would normally look.

It wouldn't be until many years later these sleeping giants would see use again. Their new owners the Red Hessians. Seizing their sills at engineering, and a little bit of ingenuity the derelict ships had been captures, and repaired. Adding new shields, and updated weapons these ships would serve as the backbone of the Hessian fleet. Each ship is slow, and handles poorly but the massive mining laser, fined turned could turn even the most advanced warships into a smoldering slag deposit.

Hmm. It's a neat model, and it could be kinda nifty to rebalance the Red Hessian Cruiser to have a forward gun. We'd need a REALLY awesome effect, though. Kinda like an upscaled mining laser...

I like it!

Thats a cruiser?!? It looks more like a transport biggrin.gif
New ultra pawnage transport *smiles*

I am guessing those containers are suppose to be a place for habitat?

The model looks quite well done, to be honest. However - it looks so much of a transport than a Cruiser D:

But then again, you said it was a mining ship. So I have no further comments until further notice smile.gif

Love the model mate, I think it would suit the Hessian style brilliantly

Hello Guys,

@DartStriker: I love you, will you marry me? Not only is the model great, the story line for it is awesome. I've been saying forever that the fact that house pirates can actually build capital ships on par with house millitaries is silly. They should be flying converted transports and miners as destroyers and cruisers. This is beautiful.

It does fit the Red Hessian, except for the fighter/bomber line.

Many think of taking the concepts of the fighters and adding them to Capitals, but in my opinion thats false. Designers tempt to make something that has a powerful hull to withstand laser blast from it's opponents. So, having designs similar to the fighter will be quite complicated. Again the model is great. The design of a transport...meh. Thats the modelers thought, so I don't want to play with it tongue.gif

I'm still not really getting a Hessian vibe from the model.

I see the Cruiser being an extension of the Gunboat rather than an entirely new looking design.

I agree with Ashes, but the idea of the pwn laser is nice and fresh.

Yeah, this is a great, high quality work model,
Maybe this ship could be Hessian Pirate transport?
Tycho
I don't think the Hessians would appreciate this model much, as it doesn't fit with the rest of their line.

That being said, I always thought the Hessian line looked a bit too advanced, but epic nonetheless.

I think the N1 can replace the task.cmp and the number 2 can replace the Starhauler.cmp.
Disparagessence
Heh.

Does look like a miner. After all, the red hessians are... miners?

Though it seriously doesn't look like a cruiser. Perhaps just a miner or a transport will be fine.
Vlko
make it a transport so you can pirate in it (shire-ish stats + a maybe mining bonuses since hessians are miners originally)

why the hell do you need cruisers?
Argonaut
*coughs*
If this replaces the RH cruiser, will there also be a brother of it for the RPC?
