Docking Modules have been updated. The carrier will not erase the list of docked ships on carrier undock/connection and base enter anymore.
It does mean ghost ships in docking bays have returned, but it should be at a way smaller extent than there used to be. I'll wrap my head around a permanent solution to fix this bug (and implement the carrier update) once Cloak Disruptors, Hyperdrive Disruptors and Hyperspace Beacons have been implemented.
Server will go down at some point today (23th May) to update players with a new DSAce.
The server will be updated with the C++11 based FLHook along with the first batch of C++11 based plugins. POBs, Docking Modules, Nodock and some other features will be re-enabled later as we're going to need live stressing to check if they're behaving correctly.
Server owners: the old dlls are not compatible with the new flhook. Please check the starport repo to update your plugins accordingly.
Edit: This has been reverted in light of the issues it caused, such as dropping out all Windows XP players.
The House Military, Police and Intelligence faction ID's have been reverted to their original form. The Admins have taken community input into consideration and implemented suggestions brought forth by @Blodo, @Teerin and various faction leaders.
The original concept was to allow more freedom for quasilawful and corporation factions to operate without having to suffer negative RP consequences from House governments. However, our first attempt at accomplishing this was admittedly extreme.
This new ruleset should accomplish the same thing with far less impact on how Lawful factions operated as before.
What are the changes and how do they play out in the game?
- Houses have the same authority as before in their Sovereign house systems with regard enforcing laws and levying fines. POB's are subject to House Laws and taxes.
- Houses can enforce RP consequences upon players, factions and non-hostile POBs, in House Controlled space, only if they witness a violation of their house law with an uncloaked ship and a Military, Police or Intelligence ID equipped. Hostile POBs are still subject to attack at any time.
- The same holds true for Houses with regards Outer Regional space. The only difference being that non-hostile POB's can operate with impunity from House laws and House RP consequences. (For example, a player or faction owning a POB in Coronado (Outer House system) cannot be FR'5d or fined for storing contraband or allowing unlawfuls to dock by House governments even if they witness them doing so. This only applies to POB's. Ships can still be fined, attacked or suffer other RP consequences, if they are caught breaking house laws and refuse to pay the fine.)
- Houses cannot enforce negative RP consequences upon players/factions for actions that occur outside their ZOI.
The last time we did this was back in 2012 or so, and the main point was to streamline the categories, forums and subforums in a way to make their ordering as clear, straight forward and accessible as possible. Things have grown a bit since then and we've added a good few subforums which have thrown things off balance again, so it's been decided to give the forums another clean-up run.
Changes: Discovery RP 24/7 Player Requests is now its own forum, with every "request" subforum previously scattered around different corners of the board now all gathered in one place. Having this centralized requests forum will hopefully help people find the proper place to post their request easier.
Official Player Factions section is revised, and "Hispania" and "Trans-Sirius" subforums are now for Outer Rim and Inter-House factions, which helps balance the number of subforums in each.
This is the initial change, and there may be a few minor adjustments in the upcoming days, so pardon our dust and feel free to leave your feedback in this thread.
