Starting 1850 hours commenced emergency launch from Zvezdny Gorodok for intercept duty of vessel "[TAZ]Ambassador's.Ark". Operational goal was to secure the vessel for transfer of the on-board-present Ambassador Doc Holiday to Gorodok. Operational directive authorized use of lethal force if necessary in order to prevent the subject from escaping.
After launch established long range scan contact with target vessel. Due to insufficient forces available at the time and limited coverage of operational area as a direct result I opted to not announce the possibility of a hostile approach.
Contact was finally established with further support, one Revolution, piloted by Lieutenant Vargas. At the time I was communicating with the Ark over a private channel. Below are the relevant parts of the transmission log, recorded from initial launch throughout the following events.

[color=#CCCCCC]I managed to finally catch up to the Ark in Omega-49. After the necessary foreplay from the Zoners' ends, Lieutenant Vargas and myself proceeded to escort the Ark back and through Omega-50 on impulse speed.
We got ambushed by Bretonian forces, led by the Privateer Destroyer "Dagobaz". I authorized use of lethal force on the target vessel, but the forces were overwhelming. Lieutenant Vargas did everything in her ability to distract the present hostile forces while I gave chase, following the target to Omega-49.
Distance to the target was too vast and I was unable to intercept it, so unable to prevent Ambassador Holiday from escaping as he made for safety. I then proceeded to observe the behavior of all hostile and potentially-hostile forces in the area.
It seems that while the Zoners didn't opt out of their beloved neutrality, they did however have no problem taking advantage of the earlier situation, however afterwards they proceeded to ask everyone out as per custom. I returned to base for my debriefing and picked up Lieutenant Vargas' pod on the way, arriving at Gorodok on 1950 hours.
Obviously the operation was a clear failure. While everything was looking as if the outcome were to be a successful one, we were unable to destroy the target once the Bretonian forces arrived on the scene. I would like to add that Lieutenant Vargas' is not to blame for the mission's outcome, as the Lieutenant did everything to the best of her ability. Under different circumstances, her staying back to distract the hostiles might have bought me enough time to destroy the target, but given the presence of other Zoner vessels in the area acting as escorts for it and the close proximity to Nova Terra, that would have only been a minimal possibility. The lack of additional forces present in the area on our side - bar Junior Lieutenant Alexéevna whose location I was unable to pinpoint, and Lieutenant Zernov, who was out of operational range and whom I chose to ignore, as she had no chance to make it to us in time.

The Corsair was the next one who got turned into dust, followed by the last remaining merc who was present.
We've shown them that we will fight for the Volkhan.

On 0220 hours I set course for 52 after finishing a routine patrol of the Omega-50 system. No contacts were present after I received an emergency transmission. Apparently one of our SCUDs had taken care of whatever intruder or hostile had been present.
I was on my way to Gorodok, fully trusting that the matter had been taken care of, and didn't bother questioning the SCUD pilot on the affair. However as the SCUDs are, regardless of their cannon-fodder status, our comrades in arms and, well, loyal to the Volkhan and our cause - even if it's mostly because we'll simply dispose of them if they were to act otherwise - I figured the least I could do was ask if everything was alright.

[color=#CCCCCC]It goes without saying that he'll probably end up dead just as the others. Afterall that is their prime purpose. However I find that regardless of their former traitor or criminal status, or whatever they as individuals were before we nerve-stapled them and shoved them in suicide-bombers, they are still human. As effective as the nerve-staples are, and as useful as those suicide-bombers may be, I personally think that some "hope" might be good for their morale. Giving them the potential - albeit highly unlikely - opportunity that their good doing might be rewarded should also be taken into consideration. If it works out we might have them fully converting to serve the Volkhan out of their own will rather than out of fear. Well, at least the ones who'd be lucky enough to survive, eh?
And if it backfires, we can still zap them as usual.
