RE: Admin Notice: Changes to server rule 4.1 and 4.3 - Karst - 06-20-2017

The removal of the "opposing player logs off" exception is a great and very welcome change that makes things much simpler.

The transport change however is bewildering. Essentially what this means is that any piracy encounter automatically ends in the pvp death of the transport. All a pirate has to do is hover around the trader, and eventually they'll be forced to dock. There is absolutely no way to win a piracy encounter now.
It's ironic that you point out the increasing combat capabilities of transports, since they've been made completely obsolete by this change. Why bother upgrading your transport if you'll just be pvp dead after "winning" an encounter anyway?

A more sensible solution would have been to remove the exemption for freighters only.

Keep in mind some people use the serenity or the bison for cargo piracy, Karst. I think you can thank Nyx for this. ;3

RE: Admin Notice: Changes to server rule 4.1 and 4.3 - Karst - 06-20-2017

Irrelevant since A, a pirating transport will almost never be in a position to reach an unlawful base from typical piracy spots and B, precedent has been set that pirates and transports engaging in offensive combat were not considered "trade ships" anyway.

Moreover this is an incredibly minor niche compared to 95% of the cases of combatdocking transports which would be transports successfully escaping a pirate encounter.

The troll potential for this is outstanding, you can "pirate" a trader at West Point with no intention of really accomplishing anything in a Hellfire bomber, forcing them to dock long before you'd be in any trouble, and instantly locking them out of the system.

Also, shut up. I never 'abused' such or did anything of the like. It's entirely irrelevant and you can keep your boner under the desk.

What about the 10 min immunity to leave?

(unless im blind and didnt see it)

The rule may bring a lot of bad feedbacks in the future...the original rule was better than this one...

RE: Admin Notice: Changes to server rule 4.1 and 4.3 - Emperor Tekagi - 06-20-2017

"the biggest change to this rule is the removal of being able to return to the system if the opposing party log off. This change has been voted on due to an increasing amount of reports and drama between players who physically cannot tell whether or not everyone who participated in a fight logged off or not. "

Welcome to even more empty space soon then.
This restricts people from going back into a system to continue an RP or start a new one even when everyone left the system. Literally everyone. This sucks, the reason this was made a thing is fine and not a surprise in the way the community loves to jump at each others throats.
Actually it is sad that this needs to be established to reduce Q_Q about a returning player who wasn't able to tell if everyone logged off or not instead of said not logged off fight participants pming the people and informing them like it should be.

EDIT: Much appreciated change for the traders though. Atleast all those silent traders get punished for 2 hours now when they manage to still dock.

I'd say the opposite is true. 90% of the silent norp traders have no armor, no bb, no weapons, or any combination thereof and will never make it to the next base anyway, unless you're pirating in a totally unsuitable location or ship.

Who this actually punishes is traders that outfit their ships well and fight hard to reach the next base, which happen to be the same ones that usually do roleplay with pirates.

I think you people are failing to realize the implications of this.
Previously, to actually kill a trader a pirate was required to choose a location and ship that's suitable, and most importantly, actually fight the trader. Now you could just make a LF pirate, pirate a trader, drop their shields below half so that they're in pvp, and then simply follow them around at a safe distance until eventually they dock, and boom, pvp dead.
Doesn't matter if it's a CauVIII battletransport with flaks and all, that equipment is useless if the pirate doesn't even have to damage you to kill you. Or like I mentioned before, take a high damage ship like a Hellfire bomber or a cruiser that'll force transports to dock pretty quickly and just trollpirate traders directly outside lawful stations.

This is a green light for griefing, non-serious troll piracy.
