A few notes about the server status - Cannon - 05-12-2010

Big battles are fine but at the moment it's better to do them when there are less than 120 people. We will get the server fixed soon, I promise.

So will this new location have the old server in it? And how will the internet connection compare?

Yes.
Will the internet connection be good?
Hard to say since we haven't got it yet.

<strike>I see that player slots have been lowered on 128 instead of 200.
Is it just temporary untill the lag gets fixed ?</strike>

Nevermind I've missed this announcement.

something I noticed and thought it was just me till another player mentioned it.

Sometimes gun effects just turn off.. like your shield starts to drop and you cant see the other person firing.

Just thought to mention it.

Cannon, did you thought about running flserver on a virtual machine with a 32bit XP on that 64-bit server?

I can imagine this would be easier to realize that to port all the stuff to 64bit and since fl is designed for 32bit this may be the best way.

For W7 that XP VM is free, dunno if it also works with the server line:

Yes this happens when the server load gets very very high (4-5 seconds lag).

Yes, it won't help make the server work faster though.

How does turning off client-side effects help the server run faster?

Any way we can get near a backbone or doesn't that really matter?
