For the Humanity and Profits - Daumann Heavy Construction - 02-15-2014

Additionally armored Pelican escorted by a wing of Wraiths flew into a green nebula. Sensors reported limited scanner efficiency and crew members altogether with passangers felt a bit unsafe. What if it was a trap? They checked the system before and properly prepared for unforeseen encounters, yet they wouldn't stand a chance against massive attack. Sigma-17 was rather far from potential reinforcements, and hostile nebula environment would effectively act as another obstacle in case evacuation was needed.
After hours of waiting inside the cloud some unknown fighters uncloaked few dozen meters before the waiting group. The waiting party's members for several seconds prepared to quick defense, but for their luck IFF transponders, callsigns and identification cards were just what they expected to meet. Crews contacted each others.

" - Humanity's survival."
" - Now and always. Greetings Daumanns, we've been expecting you. Are you sure you weren't followed, or that your ships aren't tracked?"
" - We are."
" - Good, follow us. The admiral is waiting for you."

Mixed wings activated cruise engines and headed deeper into the cloud.

As they cruised towards their destination, lead by heavy fighters of The Order, they encountered more and more patrols seemingly protecting huge signature within the cloud. It quickly became apparent that the metal monstrosity ahead of them is undetectable in nebula conditions until it is practically too late for any hostiles daring to go against it. Approaching hull of Osiris class battleship, coincidentally passing by name plate of the vessel Daumann ‘visitors’ could make out name of ship in question. The Osiris, very first of the kind opened the flight deck doors for delegation to land. Closely guarded by stealth fighters that picked them up from rendezvous point, Wraith escorts directed by deck’s co-ordinator passed through environment seals that kept them away from void of space. Beforehand arranged patch of unoccupied space for visitors to land, while less welcoming that vast hangars of Rheinland battleships, proved to be efficient in design.

Detachment of marines with full gear awaited near designated vector for landing of Pelican transport. Nothing was spared on security, ensuring none of these unusual guests walk into undesired by the owners places. Pilots upon disembarking were directed to join with rest of the delegation, wanting to get rid of distraction as soon as possible. Busy interior with sets of elevators, hangar doors, associated equipment and control tower set right under the ceiling spawned four Bastet’s patrol being prepared for launch. Some components are bare, not hidden but merely covered with some of the armor plating if vulnerable. Entire ship gave impression of being prototype - enormously advanced even by modern standards, yet still prototype.

The gathering was in front of the armored airlock doors likely leading deeper into the starship. Distinguished officer due to his armor modifications divided his people into smaller fire teams, meant to direct people where they were supposed to go. Recognizing the VIP among the small crowd, he approached to welcome Von-Geld. “Admiral is awaiting your arrival. I am ordered to ensure none of you gets lost here…” officer says, emphasizing on the fact of keeping them away from randomly walking through corridors of the Osiris. “Your escort will be allocated to starboard lounge for duration of your stay." He added, giving quick orders to proceed with pre-assigned plan.

Under escort, party split as assigned. First passing through the thick metal doors, they were subject for search for weapons, other contraband and even brief scan with device of unknown purpose. Only after successfully passing it, catching ride on elevators got them into actual corridors deep under battleship’s hull. Along the spine, hundreds meters long rail system provided quick access wherever it was necessary. As they reached their destination, marines took their position by the doors. “Through there, Admiral is inside.” Officer said, going through first to medium sized room furbished into strategic command center equipped with all necessary multimedia devices. Behind desk containing holographic projectors, consoles and secondary screens Admiral positioned in seat meant for the commanding officer.

Inside, officer of the marines moved to the side taking role of Admiral’s bodyguard. Also present were two agents in dark uniforms, matching same style as Admiral’s but denoting lesser rank. Their gear was less impressive than powered armors of officer’s and his soldiers, still looking to possess some considerable degree of protection in case of combat, for the most part covered or integrated with the cloth of the uniforms.

“I have been expecting you, Von-Geld...”

Von-Geld sat in the metal cockpit-like chair on the other side of a table, in front of Admiral and his bodyguards. Wide window made from triple shielded synthetic bulleproof glass gave good sight on small battlegroup accompanying Osiris. Except snubs, few gunboats were present alongside several freighters with supplies and repair ship.

Rheinlander looked at Admiral's face. It was like made from stone, not showing any kind of emotion. Only little inner fire in the eyes was a sign Order's leader is curious what unexpected guest may have to say.

The guest nodded as a greeting. First he wanted to shake Golański's hand, but neither Order's leader stood up with intent of doing that same, nor it was possible to shake the hands over the table, around one and half meters too long for that.

If someone with dagger sneaked in here, he wouldn't reach him because of that table. Well thought out. - Von-Geld thought.

" - The name's Von-Geld. Edward Von-Geld. I heard about you, Admiral. I see security measures are very high, Admiral. It isn't surprising given what you and your organisation are responsible for, and as someone responsible for security too I must commend Order's safety levels."

“Admiral Michal Golanski… the one among responsible to ensure we will not succumb to oblivion and become merely footnote in history of others that would stumble upon ruined derelicts of the past - our civilization.“ Taking a short pause before continuing. “Years of vigilance against things not dreamed by philosophers, threats to our very existence that come from both external and internal sources make for hell of a wake up call.”

Admiral with few clicks on the keyboard switched projection from immediate vicinity of the battle group to map of Sirius. Before Von Geld would catch some discrepancies between Daumann’s and The Order’s knowledge of distant star systems, map zoomed in to more familiar things. Swelling, dying sun surrounded by ring of molten rock and minerals is the Omega 11. Jump holes, planets and stations were highlighted on otherwise vast void. Golanski pinpointed one particular location of all, labelled as Omega 55 jump hole.

“I assume your security wings are at least moderately aware of this entry point. If not let me introduce… this is corridor our patrols encounter most of those Wilde. Every single one of them upon trying to chew more than it can handle runs straight for this jump hole.”

Every other person present in this room remained still, their faces hidden in generous shadow inside dimmed room, lighted up merely by consoles and their screens. The warrior’s spark in The Order officer’s eyes turned towards the Daumann’s envoy.

"Those infested pilots were originally part of northern Rheinland naval fleet that invaded Kusari and defeated both Honshu and New Tokyo armadas in 800 A.S. during this shameful war. As chancellor Niemann and good share of command structures ceased to be a pressing matter due to certain orchestrated events, said fleet had to come back home. Only that we and our friends were already waiting in Sigmas and Frankfurt systems. As always, there were some survivors…” After brief introduction, attention turned to now of the Sirius sector. Wanting to hear what Von Geld has to say about all of this, he invited him to take a voice in terms of common enemies. “I expect we will be running down Daumann situation from first hand perspective and lay down foundation to what can be done to increase security level of Rheinland as a whole.”
