A Doctor and a Diplomat (//Me and Doc Holiday) - AlphaWolf215 - 12-03-2014

The pilgrim liner belonging to Joseph Wolf, councilman of the Solar Runners, jumped clean into Cortez. As it left the clutches of the jump hole, the ship entered a re-energising cycle. Consequently, this meant the shields dropped, the guns reverted back to their offline positions, and the on board lighting dimmed briefly.

Clean jump Councilman! Power cycle has already begun.

The sound came from a young woman sitting at the navigation console. She was dressed in a uniform black body armour, her helmet sitting upon the desk. She turned to look at Joseph, sitting in the captains chair located on the raised central area, surrounded by holo screens

Excellent. Comms, begin final preparations. Our guest should be arriving soon. Please, send a team to organise conference room C, and have another on standby in the hangar bay, honour guard duty. Our guest must be brought straight to room C.

A quick "Aye sir" as he began sending out commands. The vessel began moving, making its way towards the Coronado Jump Hole. Sliding slowly into a position equidistant between the hole and the planet, the crew began broadcasting a locator beacon to Holidays comms frequency[/color]

In the personal quarters of his yacht, Doc dressed himself in his western style black gambler's attire but wrapped it all with a nice cloak. He wasn't an ambassador anymore which is what got his curiosity. What was this about? Still, he wasn't rude and would always give a listen.

"We're in Cortez, John," said a female's voice from the command center.
"Very well, Nicole," he answered, "we should be able to get a signal on our host."

In the past he would bring a gift to his host. A pineal amulet in gold of some set up or a bottle of fine wine but he wasn't sure what to bring this time. He hadn't had a formal meeting for some time. Today, he figured a hand shake would have to do, at least for now.

Doc sat behind his piano and began playing some Chopin to relax a bit until they arrived. It wasn't too long before they finally did.
"We're here, John. I'll announce our arrival," declared Nicole.

The pilgrim began to receive mooring requests from the yacht, redirecting them to Joes data pad. He quickly hit the accept button, pouring himself some tea in the conference room. He then opened a channel with the guardian team in the hangar bay, a brisk walk from the air lock Holiday would attach to

William, prepare your team. Our honoured guest will be with you momentarily. Be ready, and again, escort him to conference room C. I'm already set up and ready.

Aye Aye Councilman

The man on the screen wore the pure black uniform of the Guardians, but with a golden trim, indicating him as a team commander. The insignia on his shoulder, the Greek letter Alpha, indicated him as one of their best. He closed the link, moving with the other two "soldiers", standing ready at the air lock, awaiting the familiar hiss of pressurisation. Their weapons holstered, they easily snapped into a salute as the doors opened...

Nicole made a fix on Doc's attire as she often did. It was her way of flirting with her boss. With a smile, she just said, "Now you're set." Her face then went straight, "I hate it when you go unescorted. Too much can happen."
"Fear not," he replied, "I will be fine. Trust me!"

She escorted him to the airlock where they stood in wait for the door to open. Sure enough, it did. Doc stood side by side with Nicole as they were met by the guards. Nicole gave a nod to Doc, a smile to the guards and took her leave of them, Doc watching as she did.

"A fine female and an even better officer," he commented to the entourage as he extended his hand, "Dr. John Henry Holliday. It's a pleasure to meet you all."

Will stepped forward, shaking Johns hand, with a firm grip

Doctor Holiday. The feeling is mutual sir. I'm Will, CO of Guardian Team Alpha. My boys here are Vas, and Brian. We will escort you to Councilman Wolf. He's ready for you in conference room C. Please, tell me if you would like a drink, tea, coffee, perhaps something stronger? I'll radio ahead and ensure the Councilman has something ready for you.

The four began making their way through the ship. Whilst from the outside, it looked just like a pilgrim liner of old, the ones associated with slavers and smugglers, the inside was a different story. Through the floor, you could still feel a quiet hum of the engines, much less than the crude system used in the original ship though. The walls where clean, shiny, new by all accounts, and much "younger" than the ship itself. Walking past rooms, you could see in the mess hall, the comradery of the guardians who had taken their break. The small laboratories showing groups huddled about tables and instruments. However, the three escorts fell silent as they passed the medical bay. Inside, the medical droids could be heard working alongside the medics. Some men crying out in pain, due to failed experiments, bad training exercises, or some injures that looked to come from planets beyond the ships hull. They quickly moved past, entering conference room C shortly after. There stood Joseph Wolf, his armour much like the escorts, but more of a tan colour than black. He also had a type of Cape upon him as well, fixing upon his shoulders, just above the collar bone. It fell, down his back, to the floor. He turned, smiling warmly at Doc

Doctor Holiday. A pleasure. Please, do take a seat. We haven't spoken properly before, and I wished to converse with you. It never hurts to have many friends in this galaxy, I'm sure you'll agree?

Doc was pre-occupied and greatly concerned about the screaming patients he had just passed. Still, he tried to not be rude.
"Yes, good friends are hard to find," he answered, taking a glance back to where the patients were before turning his attention back to Mr. Wolf, "When you consider it seems that everyone is at war with someone over something usually stupid, friends are indeed hard to find."

He looked around the ship he was sitting in and nodded, "A fine ship, Sir. It's rather nice seeing these old liners being used for something besides the smuggling of humans." Doc caught himself, his hatred of slavery momentarily clouding his judgement and smiled, "My apologies, it's just a practice I disapprove of most strongly."

He took another glance toward the patients and turned back, "If you don't mind, I'd like to examine some of your patients before too long. I'd like to help them, at least ease their pain anyway." He sighed a bit, "I just get bothered when patients suffer as I just heard. I'm guessing that's what you wish to discuss?"

Of course Doctor. I served myself, so I know only too well the effects war can have on a man.

He watched Doc looking around, smiling at the comments

It would appear we share the same views then Doctor Holiday. Your comments have not offended me. In fact, it assures me that my repurposing of this vessel has worked to some extent. I wished to make a point, that no matter the background, everyone and everything deserves a second chance to redeem itself. I think I have proved that in this repurposing.

He moves towards the doorway, indicating Doc follow as they begin down the corridor. He has a somber look upon his face

I'm afraid it is a topic I wished to go over with you. You see, my primary role in the Solar Runners is to act as our representative in diplomatic matters, however I still hold our core values at heart. To explore, and to learn. We quite often like to explore planets that are not deemed capable of sustaining life. The mission is to explore a new land, regardless of bringing something back or not. That's just a bonus. The problem is that we sometimes come across... Problems, that are unknown to common practicioners. Your work as a Doctor is famed through these parts, and I know you mentioned in our brief meeting before, that you would not like to be branded by myth. It is my hope, that you may help the Guardians here on my ship.

They enter the sick bay, men laying on beds around the room, their armour, pure black like the escorts, hanging nearby the bed. One struggles to sit up as he notices Joe

Councilman.. I'm alright really sir

He coughs, falling back on the bed. Doc notices the small flecks of yellow liquid still glistening upon his skin. A small vial full of it sat on a bedside table

Hey, sit back. Get some rest. You'll be fighting fit before long. Take your time. We're safe here...

Joe stands, stepping away. He crosses an arm across his chest, placing the other on top it, his hand rubbing his beard thoughtfully. He turned to Doc

Can you help us Doctor?

The man before him was in pain even if he was trying to be brave about it. Like only a doctor could, he came along side the man.
"I know it hurts," he told him kindly as he took his chart from a stand beside him. He read through it and then took a glance at the attending resident and then a look of disgust at the medical droids.
"Droids don't feel pain," he commented to the man, "We humans do which is why I don't use droids in surgical procedures. They don't know when to stop."
He then took the vial of fluid. It was something he hadn't seen. He then turned to the resident physician, "Would you mind telling me what this is and what it's supposed to do?"

RE: A Doctor and a Diplomat (//Me and Doc Holiday) - AlphaWolf215 - 12-17-2014

The physician stepped forward. A young woman, early twentys. She handed him a datapad.

It's actually what we have extracted Doctor. The guardians and Councilman Wolf made an expedition. They encountered a species of plant life unknown to us, and I do hope it stays that way. This substance came from them, and is extremely acidic in nature. Sargeant Dean here had taken a large quantity into his system, we assume through wounds caused by the plant life. That is what we have managed to extract, but it still seems to be seeping out. I'm not sure if it has cancerous properties, in that it is self replicating without an end thus far, but the more we remove, more takes its place.

The datapad shows him the pH of the substance, 1, and displays the self replicating properties as it divides in two, then the image resets and begins again

RE: A Doctor and a Diplomat (//Me and Doc Holiday) - Doc Holliday - 12-17-2014

Doc nodded his understanding as he studied the vial. His attention turned to Sgt. Dean. "So what planet was this plant found on?" he asked of him. "Until I know more about it, I dare not give you anything for fear of drugs mixing with unknown substances."

Doc also thought to himself. Nanites! He still had them and as far as he knew, he had the market on them. He even kept a small stash on his shuttle but that was more than enough if he went that route.

He also asked the medical officer for a sample of Sgt. Dean's tissue affected by the toxin. "Anti-toxins," he explained, "are often made up of the deceased tissues and remains of the toxin itself.
He then called into his com badge, "Miss Schmidt, get ahold of Commander Coyle on Med Force Two and have them meet us. I may need the lab." Yes, he had an idea.

"Sgt. Dean, bear with me. Let me see what I can come up with."
