Lincoln appeared on screen with his usual semi smug smile and impeccable suit.
“Greetings to all our devoted employees.”
“I’m here to clear up any rumours floated down from loose lipped senior staff and make an announcement direct from the board.”
He clicked a few things on his data pad and a few images appeared on message.
“Yes the Board of Directors are running a company wide competition and will be rewarding the most impressive employees for their dedication and servitude.”
“However we will not be providing a full equipped ship for personal use but we can organize the upgrading of the armour upon a ship or upgrading any Percherons to Shetlands.”
“Furthermore whomever started spreading the rumour that the mountain ranges in Sector E14 upon Planet Harris were going to be renamed and gifted to the winner."
He shook his head a bit side to side.
"Well you will need to come forward to the board by the end of the current business week. We are not providing this as a winners prize but…”
He thought for a few seconds before typing something upon his datapad.
“….So the victor of this competition will now have a choice. They can either take the financial reward offered or take the honour of having the latest R&D lab upon Planet Harris renamed after them.”
“So this competition will run from now to April 27th 1:00 UTC. All employees are encouraged to work profitably yet safely and log all details of their deliveries via the appropriate channels.”
Lincoln clicks a few things on his datapad and a countdown timer appeared on screen. He nodded to the camera and the screen faded to black leaving just the countdown timer running.

“Greetings to all our devoted employees.”
“The first grand trading competition has now come to an end and we have a number of results to present.”
He clicked a few things on his data pad bringing up all he needed to read out.
“On behalf of the Board of Directors I would like to firstly thank all employees for their dedication and servitude and the levels they elevated this to during this time.”
“But for there to be a competition there must be winners and losers, those that succeeded and those that failed. And those that stepped above and beyond and made the most of their opportunities versus those that didn’t take the equivalent steps.”
“So while we thank everyone that participated let us move onwards and congratulate those that stepped up the most.”
He began typing something upon his datapad seemingly exaggerating his movements.
“….So third place goes to the captain and crew of the Shire ‘Don’. Congratulations.”
He clicked a few more things and an image of the captain appeared on screen.
“You prize will be wired to your ship account shortly..….Now second place goes to the captain and crew of the Shetland ‘Ty…Tyrrhenian’…Congratulations to you too.”
He began typing something and this time the image of the captain of the Tyrrhenian appeared alongside the other captain.
“And lastly to the winner. Through great dedication, determination and skill the winner put in efforts that left everyone in their dust. So it is with pride that I get to announce the winner of the first Planetform Trading Competition is the captain and crew of the Shetland ‘Barrow’.”
He half breaks into a celebratory clap before he contains himself and returns to his steely demeanour. Clicking a few things the image of the captain appeared on screen in between the other two.
”Now I have other great news on the winner. He has shown selflessness beyond all before him. The captain on behalf of his crew has chosen to accept an alternative reward on offer from the board. He has chosen to return the winnings he was due back to the company to continue our good works. Instead he has taken the great accolades on offer of the naming rights to our latest research labs upon Planet Harris.”
Lincoln clicks a few things and the three images of the captains were replaced by an image of a flash laboratory building sporting the words “Allen Odum Centre” glistening in the sunshine.
”So everyone pass your congratulations onto Captain Odum and his crew and make sure to attend the open weekend of the Allen Odum Centre this coming weekend.”
Lincoln nodded to the camera and the screen faded to.
