Church of the Archangels - Vagrant - 01-30-2016

"The origin of the Church of the Archangels is unclear. It is suspected that this religious movement started in an almost completely isolated community on Planet Crete. Because the Corsairs are hardly a religious people, the Church's influence remains limited. The Archangels' religion has spread throughout the Corsair controlled space, finding its followers throughout southern Omicrons and there are some known believers within the Houses as well. That might be because of the limited rituals and dogmas that are involved in its practices. Indeed, many of the Corsairs following the Church treat the deities as little more than foundation for spiritual courage, and their mythology to be symbolic and ethereal. Still - there are some that strongly believe in the Archangels' prophecies. (...)"

Asha, the Archangel of Hope

"The very fabric of the universe will be torn
The very space you exist in will shake
The very mind you have will shatter
And the armies of demons will be upon you

Through unity, we will mend
Through hope, we will calm
Through power, we will repair
And the armies of angels will rise again"
- Asha's Prophecy, Anonymous

"Asha is believed to be the most powerful of the trinity of Archangels. Her Prophecy is considered to be one of the holiest of texts and has been interpreted in many different ways. She patrons the common Corsairs - those working planetside as well as those smuggling all the commodities for the Empire. She is also a patron of the Omicron systems. The main temple of Asha stands in the city of Cayambe on Planet Crete. Her symbol is an eleven-pointed star and she guards the top and bottom aspects of the Hedron - Unity and Hope."

Varda, the Battle Seraph

"Those who endure in the face of suffering
Those whose faith shines long in evil days
Those who bring demise to our enemies
They shall see salvation. "
- Chant of Varda, Anonymous

"Varda is the patron of pirates and the Corsair military. Many of the prayers to the Battle Seraph are addressed from the Corsair battleships and fighters. The most common depiction of Varda is derived from a collection of sacred texts named simply the Prayerbook wherein she is presented as a red-haired angel with burning eyes, carrying her attribute - a whip-like flexible sword called Maya. Church of the Archangels believers that serve in the Corsair military also dedicate the ship destructions and enemy kills to Varda. The main temple of Varda, also called Coliseum is located in the city of Salinas on Planet Crete. She is the patron of the Omega systems, her symbol is a trident and she guards the north and south aspects of the Hedron - Battle and Duty."

Caïssa, the Spirit of Luck

"Life's balance is as a Hedron. On one point is Duty, and Duty must be obeyed. If the knots of Duty are loosened, chaos will spill through.
Next to Duty is Reason, and Reason must be retained. If the web of Reason comes unwoven, madness will escape.
Opposite Duty is Battle, and Battle must be continued. If the spirit of Battle is lost, the design will be lost and the people with it.
Next to Battle is Alliance, and Alliance must be preserved. If the frame of Alliance is broken, none shall weave life's fabric.
Above them all is Unity, and Unity must be upheld. If the knots of Unity are loosened, chaos will spill through.
Below them all is Hope, and Hope must be sustained. If the wings of Hope are clipped, the voices will fall silent."
- Reverend Juan Pablo Garcia, Song of All

"The cult of Caïssa is very decentralised and hard to gather any information about as she is mostly revered within the upper echelons of the Corsair society. Caïssa is the patron of tacticians and leaders, the voice of reason and the spirit of luck. The sacred texts of the Prayerbook are often conflicting in her appearance, however Caïssa is often depicted carrying a book or a chessboard. There aren't any known temples of Caïssa. She is considered the patron of the Sigmas, her symbol is a chess queen and she guards the east and west aspects of the Hedron - Reason and Alliance.
