My original comment was targeted specifically at VirtualBox which is aboslute trash when it comes to any games with 3D it's just trash.

Vmware software is actually pretty okay for it. I would use VFIO like a normal human being but unfortunately my cpu doesn't support vt-d so I gotta stick with Vmware. And I think actually that Vmware supports vt-d virtualization but I haven't checked or really cared about it.

I have to say I still do not understand why someone (except for multiboxing) runs a game on a workstation in a VM.

Regarding virtualbox and FL:
I do know FL has caused timing cheat errors in the past and I would like to know if this still persists and if FLserver is effected, too.

Because it's a microsoft game and doesn't have native Linux support. Some people managed to get it running through Wine, others through VM. I personally prefer to VM instead of dualboot because rebooting to windows is slow af.

Successfully play freel on linux via virtualbox. no performance issues (i5 3750 + 8gb + nvidia 660ti).
