We’ve got a proposal for you, ‘Lancers.

There’s good foreigners and then there’s bad foreigners. Good kind are the ones who bring their respect, trade and investment all wrapped up in a bindle, ready to do what they will, settle or go home. Rheinland tends not to be the receptacle of ‘em. You, however, are the great exception.

You’ve been dignified to us. We’ve treated your transports as everythin’ from mock hostages to over-glorified chess pieces as our relations with the Hessians fell into hell. You’ve been candid with us over your interest in our shared benefactor, the Corsairs. You’ve been decent even when we’ve been abrasive. It takes a lot to win us over - you’ve nearly pushed it over the bar.

I’m proposin’ that we take transports and other forces wearin’ your ident’ off the prospective targets list. Now, Unioners don’t do this lightly. It’s usually more advantageous to shoot a man and take the bullet-wriddled clothes of his smoking back than it is to give him a hand-job. But you’re another element of the same artery we are. You’re part of the wider game plan.

Here’s what we’re proposing. The Labour Directorate has some kinda’ grand slam going on that I know nothing about - don’t ask me, I wouldn’t give you answers if I did. ‘Sept it can’t be that morally bankrupt or intriguin’, ‘cus as far as I can tell, it’s mostly a fracktonne of extraction lasers.

Here’s what we propose. You ship, this cargo:

Transport Manifest: 25000 Sirian Standard Units of Mining Machinery

Destination: Freeport 2, Bering.

And we’ll give you something of a freebie alongside the whole life-preservation list. Several months prior, the Unioners began manufacture of an GM461 Hel cruiser, for export to the Landwirtrechtbewegung. Guess the farmers ran low on currency, because the hull never made the handover. This means we’ve got a fairly non-standard cruiser sitting around, that’s going to take more than a few months of retrofitting to restore into the commie culling machine of our wettest of dreams. We’d much rather see the arse end of her, pretend she don’t exist.

Scrapping the whole thing is a waste of recycling assets which are all tied up with pursuits more critical. We’re shipwrights, despite our crusty exterior - we’d rather lay the tiller with - relative- friends than encumber ourselves.

You give us that mining machinery? We’ll give you the LWB’s uncollected cruiser. Assuming you can get it to work, of course.

Take it. It's the best deal you're going to get.

Good Afternoon Miss Riehl.

This is something i wasn't expecting to hear. I'm glad i'm hearing it, but surprised non the less. I'm truly happy to hear that the Unioners see our pilots as a welcomed party and beneficial investors in Rheinand. We thank you for your trust.

I have to say, i'm quite astounded that you would offer us an incomplete 'Hel' cruiser in exchange for this job, its quite an honor and a reward.

I believe those mining machinery you need can be easly arranged. I would like to ask meanwhile, if you could tell me what the cruiser is missing , of course?

yours truly,
Wallace Emmerich, Chief Engineer

Sure.

Her fuel cells are MOX-pellet based, like most Rheinland manufacturing. That gives her significant range, but you can't just scoop the fuel out of space, you've got to purchase it. Her reactors are only sufficiently fueled for a service run; you're going to have to load her bunkers with additional reactor mass if you're going to make best use of her armament, which you're going to have to select yourself. Better the fuel quality, hotter you can run the drives - I advise thorium MOX from our beloved friends the 'Sairs. We run it in our fighter drives and its legions ahead of what the Feds' are packing. Another feature is the lack of RX-K35 Preserver Muon Plasma turrets, which is our current generation anti-capital turret within the Unioners, and the best damn cruiser ordinance in the southern colonies. They're in pre-production presently and arn't currently marked for export, so you'll be using off-the-shelf universal munitions when arming her, which is going to to put her tactically behind any of our own assets on a one-on-one fight. Mind, she'll still be a hardass fast convoy escort, which was what she was designed for, and she's very low maintenance. You can bang cometary rocks into her hull for hours and she won't shiver. Obviously, as far as crew is concerned, you'll be providing your own. We can hand you users guides for anything you may wish, but beyond the handover, maintenance, logistics and servicing are all on you.

Apart from the above, she's a finished product. All you need to do is provide her with guns, an ident, fuel. It's a raw cruiser with no frills - only slight problem is the entire interface is German language only and covered with Landwirtrechtbewegung murals. Apologies for that.

Well that was a set of interesting deliveries, should total to around 28,000 units of machinery, giving you plenty of spares if anything goes wrong. It's all sourced from Essen Station so it's all good quality Rheinland workmanship. Also, during one of the trips some of your guys got on the wrong side of the Feds, so I tractored in who ever I could and ran them out to the freeport, which should be a good sight better than rotting in Veirlande. Anyway, here's your receipts, be sure to call again if you need anything else.

Been a pleasure working with you,
Stay safe out there

Damn - talk about a job done right.

So HaichCee wasn't beartrapping my neck by cradling you in our trust - hm. I'll hand you this: You're a case study on how to win yourselves some respect, Freelancers. Bonus tallies on rescuing Caesar wing - I was on the brink of penning their butcher's letters before they came in with the haul.

You've gone so above and beyond, you've managed to max out our warehousing for the foreseeable, what, year? My fighters are jostling deckspace with tungsten drill heads - the padrats are yelling curses more colourful than the ejecta of a sniffer's brain. They'll fizzle out now, though, because command's gone and dazzled itself over you. Upon this transmission's sending, you'll be taking a few decimal hike up the reputation sheet. That means docking access to Pacifica and probable risk of a rehire now you're on the list of dependables.

You've done my spine, time to scratch yours. With an eighty seven thousand ton, two hundred meter long backscratcher, no less.

Pickup of the cruiser can be done under delegation at a time of your choosing. She's at Pacifica. All you need to do is lift her out of the docking cradles. We'll be there to escort you out of the system as and when you choose to collect.

Be safe.
