1.2) Biography

Born on the 9th March 759 A. S. on Planet Los Angeles as son of a sales manager of the local Synth Foods company. Upon graduating from the Marshall School of Business he started his own small transport business with the financial support of his father.
After expanding from domestic market of Liberty to the import-export business one of his employees got in touch with Omicron Supply Industries.

Realizing that as independent contractor of OSI he could reach into markets he had never imagined to see, he signed a contract with OSI that allowed him to fly under Zoner colors without actually giving up his own company.
The success of this cooperation soon caught the eyes of others and as his personal wealth grew so did his reputation within OSI. His ruthlessness in conquering new markets and exploitation of market opportunities made him both feared as competitor and respected as colleague among his peers.

He relocated the headquarter of his contract-business to an office within the OSI-headquarter on Planet Gran Canaria, where he felt more as an integral part of OSI than a mere subcontractor.
However, his rise within the ranks of OSI only began as Kelly on numerous occasions overstepped his competence and made deal on behalf of OSI, while fulfilling them with his contractual company.

In the end he was found out and had to explain himself in front of the directors. Due to the fact that all of his customers were full of praise – which he skillfully emphasized – and the support of the then-directors Caudill and Church he was promoted to Adviser of the board and continued to sign contracts on behalf of OSI legally.
With the retirement of both Caudill and Church new director position became available and with the new CEO VonCloud he began to take OSI into new directions, that included his aggressive approach to new markets.

After VonCloud stepped down, Kelly was nominated CEO and continued the success story that was Omicron Supply Industries. However, as time progressed, the position of CEO became more and more the position of the head of a political entity. Kelly was well out of his comfort zone as business negotiation became political statements. Not being or wanting to be a political figure he retired from the position as OSI’s CEO and went back to liberty.

However, his retirement was cut short as he was approached to restructure the slowly fading Interspace Commerce. Seeing an opportunity to be a pure businessman again, he took on the challenge. After bringing Interspace Commerce back on the road to success, Kelly settled for the position of Chairman

The position of a non-executive Chairman of the board of directors gave Kelly both ample influence on the company as well as representing his favorite kind of people on the board of directors: The shareholders.

Not being an active part in the day-to-day business of Interspace Commerce shielded Kelly from much of the stress of management positions and provides him with some spare time. So it was not uncommon to see him mentoring on the liberty chamber of commerce, writing the odd article about best practices in the world of business or following his hobbies.

But as time went on the Board of Interspace Commerce grew complacent and listened less and less to the advice of their most senior Member, he left IC, to focus on growing his own business.

However, another Libertonian company did not agree with Kellys plans and recruited him back into the corporate world: Cryer Pharmaceuticals and the all around carefree healthcare offered by Cryer to convince him to stay, was too good an offer to reject for Kelly, who has started to feel the effect of age.

1.3 Privately Owned companies

13.1 Kelly Import & Export LLC

Arguably the first Business of Kelly, was funded mainly by his father and a loan from IC. Due to personal connection it initially focused on exporting Synth Gel and importing Luxury Food. As business expanded to did the routes.

Later KI&E LLC became a defacto subsidiary of Omicron Supply Industries, due to the fact that OSI did not employ but contracted their people. A loophole allowed to get contracted as a legal person, that being his business. With access to the trading database of OSI, he made sure to score the most profitable jobs and invested the money in more and better ships and hiring more personal. Eventually he stopped flying and started to manage his company full time. In it’s prime the company employed over 50 people and 12 ships.

This arrangement lasted till Kelly retired from OSI. Today, KI&E LLC consists of a mere 2 ships, both of them under the colors of Interspace Commerce and Kelly is rumored to get into the pilot seat from time to time, though enough personal is employed to keep both ships flying profitably.

1.3.2 Kelly Stock Exchange LLC

Trading Stocks and Bonds is a major hobby of Jason Kelly, so much so he funded his own facility and network allow him to trade on his own terms, as Planet Gran Canaria had not legislated the stock-market, unlike the houses.

This attracted investors and gamblers, who were willing to rent access to Kellys network. Thus Kelly Stock Exchange was born. An office complex named "Las Palmas Interstellar Stock Market" was built and offices in it were rented to all people willing to trade stocks there.

The newest addition to KSE is a Nephilim-Class Carrier, which serves as mobile stock market, even though some might see it as a cruise-liner that gives you the possibility to earn back the price of the cruise on board.

Today Kelly Stock Exchange is the biggest contributor to Kellys income, though exact numbers are not available for public record.

1.4.2: Ships

14.2.1: The Whale

The ship, affectionatly known as “the wale” went under some different names, most notably the HeavenlyBurden under the flag of Omicron Supply Industries and Gruetli-Laager for IC. The simple fact is, that this was the first ZBT-1002 that Kelly has ever flown and gotten very fond of the nice handling and the sleek curves of the ship.

Everything about the ship is customized to the conditions of the borderworlds. Such as the additional armor, as it was used in dangerous parts of space, spacious living quarters because of the long journeys, an improved navigational array as well as a docking bay for a small craft.

She was twice subject to a complete overhaul and modernization of it's systems and propulsion while flying for OSI. The latest overhaul was in early 822 A.S. and the ship was equipped with the newest technologies as part of the new fleet of Interspace Commerce and rechristened Gruetli-Laager.

Even the upgrades from Renzu shipyard didn’t change anything about the borderworld customization but only upgraded to the transponder and the communication-array.

1.4.2.2: The gunboat

Kelly is quite fond of repurposing gunboats as personal yachts, whereas everyone else of his tax class uses liners for that purpose.

And it has been his personal policy to conduct business-trips in a gunboat since his early days as a director of OSI. They are big enough to command some respect and be comfortable, small enough to not draw too much attention and, lastly, powerful enough to get out of trouble, should the situation demand it.

The successor of his conference gunboat from his times in Omicron Supply Industries is a CTE-12400 "Condor" Civilian Gunboat. The Tell-City hat been a gift from Interspace Commerce, a sweetener to get out of retirement. The fully customized gunboat exemplifies the use as personal yacht, sporting a conference room, spacious living quarters and an actual kitchen, should one ever bother to cook.

While the interior has been heavily modified the outside just looks like a regular gunboat, to not draw any unwanted attention.

1.4.1.3: The Nephilim

The InterstellarAmbitions is the Nephilim employed by Kelly Stock Exchange. It might be the only privately owned Nephilim in existence, as the Nephilim is hard to come by and expensive to sustain. However, as with gunboats Kelly does not use it as a combat-vessel and uses it as a mobile stock-market.

Internally it resembles much more a flying supercomputer than a ship built for combat. There are plenty of offices crammed between the computer core and the hull. And the cabins resemble those of a coach-version of a liner. However, there are some basic recreational facilities to satisfy the customer's need for entertainment and recreation.

Since much of the powercore is dedicated to run a plethora of computers and state-of-the-art data-links to the colonies the defensive capabilities of the ship is somewhat limited in terms of response time, as the computers have to be shut down first, before the guns can be powered.

1.4.3: Real Estate

The runner up to the biggest office complex on Gran Canaria is the “Las Palmas Interstellar Stock Market”. It is therefore one of the significant marks on the skyline of Las Palmas. It is part and heart of “Kelly Stock Exchange LLC” and a major contributor to the economy of the city.

Rumor has it that this building or rather it’s power consumption is responsible for the outage of 822. However, as the growth of the City has slowed down to manageable rates, LPISM is providing reliable services to anyone renting an office in the complex and thus access to it’s proprietary stock-exchange network.

It’s proximity to the Headquarters of Omicron Supply Industries and the Trade’n’Drunk are reminders that, at the time of groundbreaking, Kelly was a young Director of Omicron Supply Industries with ambitions as high as the complex’ main building.
