"So, are we having a bad day, lieutenant Toyoda Tetsuzan? Looks like you missed a chance to end your career in glory." The first words were heard by the man laying on a medical bed.

He tried to look around, to see where he's, but just turning his head caused a sharp pain to him.
"What happened to me? Where am I" He asked those words to the person above him.

"Don't worry officer, you are in the safest place in Kusari on the Battleship Nyono." The one who looked like in the lab coat answered. "You weren't that lucky in the fight Sigma-21. Your ship got caught by fire from the Rheinland battleship grade pulse gun. While it is not really weaponry doing any damage usually. Your fighter vessel is not really suited to withstand such high energies in shield or hull design. You were declared dead, as chances for your survival were impossible"

The gaze of the doctor? caused shivering through his spine. It was unsettling, to say the least.

"Dead? but I'm not dead. I hope you already fixed it? I would not be even able to pay for anything otherwise." Officer protested, predicting big problems for himself in the future.

"Oh, you don't need to concern with it yourself yet. As it opens more doors opened and you could continue serving Kusari even in the state of your medical status. The damage caused to your body was quite high, loss of limb. If you would be to say 'alive'... it would end your career and life as officer forever" The mad man grinned at him, but it didn't make him better.

"Do I have another choice? What are you talking about?" The bewildered disabled officer asked.

"You see... We have different projects, sometimes requiring the hardest things to acquire to make them work. Looking at how durable and powerful in close combat Rheinland vessels, we wished to come up with our answer which would not damage our vessels in each battle with them to the point where even victory would not matter."

"Project RONGUSHOTTO was made, where we used our battlecruisers as a platform for installation of the best prototype weaponry for long-range combat. Codenamed as Breakers, they are being able to fire up to 2750 distance, those weapons allow our vessels to keep enemy battleships at distance, tearing them slowly apart.

To operate the guns much more calculational power was needed. Working at the highest speed possible in response to always changing situations in battle. To not only operate the vessel and fire at the enemy, but predicting at the best where the enemy would appear when blasts of energy reached him across the distance. Our best quantum computers certainly fit criteria, but their tremendous cost, delicate requirements to functional ability aren't allowing us to use them in battle on a warship."

The scientist took a pause, thinking, and remembering how the project evolved from its starting stage to where it became now.

Intrigued by revealings, the officer asked: "Were you able to come with a solution?"

"We were.... we decided to try using the best computers already available on our planets a long time ago. We made a neural interface allowing us to utilize human brains to our task."

The officer remained silent, awaiting more to be revealed by the scientist.

"You have one more chance to serve your country. We need you... or more to say your brain to be used at the final stage of the project RONGUSHOTTO. You would become the pilot, the gunner, the ship itself. Your damaged body would not matter, as you will be the metal capital vessel guarding Kusari against threats. Are you ready?"

"Do I have a choice?" Officer silently asked.

"No, You don't" The scientist madly laughed. At his command assistant injected something to the officer, making him asleep and never waking up again.

A month later new battlecruiser started to flow at the Kusari border. Enemies were surprised by its long-ranged fire, often becoming debris to be salvaged for all who wants. The ship became successful... but at which cost?

Daniel Spencer, a zoner trader and transporter of ships. His legal side is clean for now, he offers his services within the law.... but his ship is equipped with a hyper engine, for which he's in debts to repay. It allows him to move across Sirius with unmatched time and speed.... but it can't be easy like that, can it?

The fuel for the engine is highly expensive, filling the ship for two trips costs him as much as regular people to buy a small aircraft.

He's forced to carry contraband while no one sees, getting any stuff for anybody. Just to keep with costs he needs to pay for his ship maintaining.

Special deliveries of highly expensive materials, slaves to rich people, artifacts to collectors of alien tech. Daniel can't really choose anything below his threshold.

He has an idea to change his way of profits from smuggling to only suggesting transportation of ships, but it requires him to find needed people, which would need his services. He was able to find a few passengers from Liberty to Omicrons during his travels, but that's just not enough in keeping with demands for the ship.

So far he was lucky to avoid being targeted by torpedos and antimatter cannons, but luck can't last forever? Better be prepared in advance for the trouble with law keepers or pirates.

During his one of shady deals, his client offered as payment a blueprint for a gun, which would increase the protection of the ship considerably. As it's reworked version of transport EMP flak turret for bustard's more massive power core.

The new turret would not only help to deflect enemy missiles and torpedos but also depletes enemy shields and weak power cores through strong discharges of electromagnetic explosions, giving an additional layer of protection against energy-based weaponry

Scientists at Zoners Research Station in Omicron Kappa agreed to build one using the blueprint, after having the transporter hired for secure deliveries of their materials between stations.

Easy Delivery

Ethan Hudson, a male in his thirties, an ordinary clerk working in company "Tanzular". That just another day in his life on the planet Manhattan, when nothing special was expected. He was slightly concerned about the news he heard around. Massive battle actions coming to Texas, Liberty Navy massive ship relocations? Could it be another war? Thank you very much, we would gladly prefer the ordinary day of work and life, than dying with thousands of people in flames and bullets.

After parking his motorbike at the company office, he entered the lift together with another colleague. One of the main business planners in the company. An attractive, but too strict to Ethan taste. Turning from her sensor tablet, she noticed her companion for the ride.

- "Hello! How was your name is, Ethan?"
- "Yes, mam."
- "We have an urgent delivery, just came up recently. Nothing serious, we need you just to deliver small box, that could fit in your pocket to Planet Texas. Take the star tracker in hangar 3, it should be enough for your work. Hurry up, the client should not be waiting for you."

What was definitely Ethan liking in his work, that's flights in space. He often wished to disable auto control for his ship and to start making dashing maneuvers, imagining other ships around him flying in crazy trajectories. Alas, that was just dreams. Company trackers in the ship would immediately detect if the ship would leave his designated course. The flight was smooth as well as his landing to planet Texas. Surprisingly this old ship model was still performing well, even if it's already time for utilization. But that would be not an efficient waste of resources, probably the ship would be removed only when some unfortunate pilot would die with it.

After the landing, he started to look around the spaceport. He was told that he would be met by someone here. All he was able to find some gypsy, which was even coming to his way. Intuition screaming loudly for the courtier forced him quickly to hop on the closest ride. He definitely was not willing to wake up after being made asleep by clonidine or not waking up at all.

Having lost a quick chance of getting information where he should make his delivery. He brainstormed for a minute. An idea sparkled in his head. Swiftly looking around he made his way across streets until suited his needs building was found. Info agency "Accurafind". The robot inside provided him the information for a fee, where his client works, professor Maxwell Lawe.

Taking Taxi Ethan arrived at the professor's office. Finally, his job would be finished. It already takes much longer than he expected, just to give the small box and getting a signature about the delivery being done. Coming on the right floor he wished to knock the door but noticed it is slightly opened. He did not know why, but he opened it silently as he can while looking around for any signs anything around. The sight opened was horrific, everything was in disarray, with blood, left body parts and bones being the only left from someone who was here before. Was it the professor?

Fearing he looked around for anything that could be used for his defense. He was able to find only a fire extinguisher. Taking that, as something is better than nothing, he tried as silently as he came to get out of here as soon as possible. The sounds of 'clacks' coming from the other side of the room chilled his blood and made adrenaline all over his body ejected at once. He was able to turn the fire extinguisher to whatever it was, seeing a monster coming right at him. A white spray designated to block any air access for the fire was launched at a monster blocking his eyes, giving him a small-time while it tried to restore its sight back.

Running with the maximum speed of the office, he was caught by a group of military people, all in high-grade armor and weaponry surrounding the building. With just looking at my face and eyes, he understood me already seeing what they were searching as well. Being finally safe, I should have run away and never returning back, but something was holding me back. The guys were keeping targeting the building.

When the glasses on one of the floors became shattered as something jumped out of the building and started to get away by the roofs of the building. The commander of the group called by radio support, which made verti-bird to arrive. They got on board when unexpectedly their commander offered me a hand to get with them as well. I went probably mad or something changed inside me, as I took the hand and joined then onboard.

They placed me on one of vertibird controls to fire auto-turret manually. Apparently electronics were working not so ideal at always changing altitude and wind speeds disrupted autotargeting system. The chase was intense, missiles were used with multiple miniguns tracing monster movements. The joint effort of all team crippled the monster enough for it being hit by a direct missile. Exploding the remains in all directions.

Slightly impressed by me taking it all through the offered to come through training joining their ranks permanently to work with their team in cleaning anomalies through Sirius. They have battlecruiser equipped up to date with high-grade weaponry to deal with most problems. Is this madness? Yes. And this how my life starts.

Road to hell

The road to hell is paved with good intentions

Part 1: The Past

The commonwealth, the hellfire legion, the harmony. Borders were erased, as three groups became one, but how did it start? Could the origins of their appearance tell us how is it evolved into what it is now?

Once upon a time, the commonwealth was a group of friends, who followed zoner traditions. Diplomacy over conflicts, peace above war. Hard to believe it, isn't it? They were once Gauls, which after the Gallic liberation the Taus moved themselves in the search of riches to collaborate with IMG and exploit Niobium Fields. They tied themselves with zoners at this moment and embraced being non violate group.

Trading, specializing in economy, diplomacy, and research. They were a promising looking group, who made their contribution to fight nomad infection, as many zoners before and after them.

Gaul mercantilism did not leave them though and made them being developed with their own ideology and traditions. Greed and power slowly consumed their minds, turning them from what could be peace bringers fighting the nomads, into the heartless syndicate not afraid to use any means to increase their influence and fill their pockets with wealth. Thus, the commonwealth was born.

Time changed them, as their ways turned from diplomatic talks to acts of terrors, bribery, suffocating their competitors on the path to wealth. Military power became to be needed.

Their eyes fall on Liberty, with its government and corruption running from bottom to top, they were able to found weak chain Drake Thastus, who was at that moment a loyal officer to the republic. Manipulating him, they orchestrated his fall, turning his friends to enemies, and his country against him. This was not a hard thing to make, as they just made him digging into directions his superior officers didn't like.

Fallen officers, dock workers, transport captains. A force was born, Hell Fire legion, which became a military arm of the commonwealth, to move their goals in whatever it would take on the path to greed and power.

Years passed. The battlegroup of Harmony survived from being destroyed by its former colleagues and appeared nomads, who made their roots once again planted through Liberty,. The new resistance vowed to fight against the infiltration of aliens and one day being able to change the course of the cold war.

An enemy of my enemy is my friend? Apparently able to find common ground with other former Liberty Navy officers. The ones which became known separatists were able to break chains between commonwealth and hellfire legions, turning later against its masters.

Part 2: The present

A sound of alarm started to beep in sleeping quarters, waking up its captain Oscar Mills, commanding of Hell-Fire battlecruiser "Judicator" series. Even the captain room can't be comfortable here, as it's a military ship and not a cruising yacht.

"You've got mail" synthesized female voice reaches the ear, as he was struggling with remains of sleep while drinking his coffee to wake up completely. Opening the mail, he started to read, surprise-filled his facial expression, and the forgotten cup of coffee was dangerously leaning to spill precious liquid all over the place.

Once he finished and processed the orders about subduing commonwealth, he was double surprised with finding the cup in his hand which he finished quickly. A yellow alert was activated by him and his commanding voice boomed through corridors and terminals

- "All ship crew, yellow alert, proceed to your battle station in half of hour. A battle operation begins, I expect all of you being ready and ship systems in proper conditions."

A time later, the ship and its crew participated in seizing control over AMERICA FREEPORT in Kansas. Maraderuing through the station, they swept which supplies they were able to find, as well as raiding the research department with weapon storages. Their luck was high today, as they came across Prototype Heavy Mass Driver "Breakers" which were prepared for commonwealth ship being equipped. Finders are keepers, their ship would be more prepared to survive future struggles.

IB business

The interstellar beacon, the base which became a workshop for all talented engineers who know from which end to dismantle or gather together a hyper engine for a ship. Their ranks aren't really that restrictive, they are opened for everyone who would show being a person with good hands or education above average skill in everything related to survey or faster than light flight.

They prefer having to deal with surveys and matrixes for now, and after some thinking, they decided to concentrate their efforts in their production only, but they are thinking to make a work for jump drives and docking modules if it's necessary. Once their working place would be ready with the required tools, they could offer their services in manufacturing, installing, and maintaining equipment for the ships.

Who would be providing necessary cargo deliveries for their work is another question though, perhaps clients themselves? The workshop would have prices to reflect it, having all extra cheap, as deliveries to make it would be placed on the shoulders of the ones who wish to obtain or people who would be hired by the client for the deliveries being accomplished.

For now, they were able to build working prototype hyper survey scanners and decided to offer their services for those who need it, as a time for rent payment is close and they should gather before there are kicked out of the place.

Price list for hyper coordinates:

200k accuracy: 5 mils credits
50k accuracy: 30 mils credits
25k accuracy: 60 mils credits + client provides fuel

They would invest some of their free cash in building a small stock of devices to see if there's a demand for them and they have enough supplying to meet the need in it.

Renting price 50 mil credits per one building device (Docking modules are an exception, 50 mils per two building devices)
Renting time is granted for 3 days per one building device or less if you spent less time to build the device you rented it for.
Another person would have to wait for its queue until the previous one finished its all rents.
The current renting person can ask for additional rents at any time up to 20 devices built simultaneously, while its current any rent is not finished yet. Every rent has a separate time frame starting from when it was acknowledged or asked to be started, but the start for new rents would be not later than all previous ones finish their time.
The client is obligated to be not caught breaking any Liberty Laws, with consequences which would inflict problems for the workshop, in that case, the contract would be terminated, without any refunds.

The Threat Within

The day for captain Andrew Wilson was beginning like every other day. Smugglers, foreign capital vessels. You name the threat, Liberty takes care of it.

But this day was a different one. It all started from Norfolk Shipyard, where a heavy ship on police duty was going through regular maintenance. Calibrating weaponry, aligning sensory sensitivity, and every other little thing a big ship like "Interdictor" needs every once in a while to look perfectly in comparison to 'garbage' ships operated by Liberty Rogues.

A small gallic fighter belonging to the enclave was spotted flying past the shipyard to Texas direction. Perhaps there was time to catch it off guard by firing all weapons to it, while it was docking trade lanes? This did not happen and it leads to the best or to the worst.

Greetings, trading companies, independent traders, and men of opportunities. We are a workshop Interstellar Beacon formed from zoner engineers, standing in Liberty space and undergoing a process of station reconstructions.

We would like one day to offer people services, where they would be able to use our hands for construction of hyper related devices for ships, making them more available! We can't do a lot of deliveries, as we aren't having a lot of transports or pilots to perform it. That would be reflecting our approach to future device constructions.

The services provided by us would be extra cheap in prices because they would not include any delivery of materials on our side. That would be up to clients to choose what they wish and deliver the required materials.

We are making an experimental step if this would be even having demand, but we are willing to try.
