Bounty Hunters Guild Feedback - Athenian - 03-29-2009

' Wrote:yes - joining the faction was too open.... so open that one didn t even know one had walked through a portal.

thanks for clearing it up - and i do wonder how many BHG| actually know they are now in an official playerfaction. - that might be the first thing to make clear to everyone - cause with a faction comes responsibilities - and every member should be aware of it.

another thing is - how does it exclude those that are not in the faction? - surely, we don t apply the faction RP over canon RP like some other factions do.

on the other hand, i very much appreciate the "open doors" for everyone in the very uncomplicated manner - thats a fresh approach unseen with all the exclusive and ever more exclusive factions around ( and ... it is the only approach that works with the BHG at that point anyway )

lets keep the doors open as they are - but make people aware that there are doors.

Well, to be honest, the open door policy serves one important purpose above all else - to help the many new players to the server who might otherwise have had the misfortune to RP without realising that they were not supposed to do x, y or z and would end up losing everything they had worked so hard for. Everyone makes mistakes. Playing a large, seemingly unrestricted faction like the Corsairs or Guild is many people's first port of call on the server - it can seem to be a relatively consequence-free environment. When people do make mistakes, the ID's rep gets tarnished, as you well know.

I have tried my utmost to make this faction RP and the canon RP the same. Any help would be much appreciated.

Currently I'm working on a proper code for hunters that promotes rp and fairplay.

ok - now that i know its a "serious" attempt. i ll get into kusari - BHG public relations and will initiate kusari deals on a low level - that might - in the future develope to a more trustful and beneficial / permanent deal.

depending on how the KNF / KSP will react - but only after the beta phase is over and the server runs stable - until then, i ll observe mostly without getting too active .. yet.

Well, I would really have loved to replied in http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=40768 seeing as stuff was directly addressed to me, but that thread got a lock before I could. What Agmen said goes pretty much for me as well. However there are some things I would like to point out.

Grimly Wrote:I'll introduce this topic saying that I was killed by hunters and that's not a problem for me (except when 10 hunter/LN ran on me and got my 47 xenos pilots today and I wanted to use for making my hacker a specialist ...), some of them gave me good fights. I lost, I won, well it's the game ! So please understand that I'm not crying about the players killing me while this mod was done for that.

Nevertheless, there is a real problem with current hunters but one lady : Esther Carson.

You will note here that our huntress is the only one claiming her bounty.
Athenian, have your guild an other kind of incomes ?
How the hunter get funds for their operations when they aren't claiming the bounties ?

PLEASE CLAIM YOUR BOUNTIES OR DO NOT ENGAGE MORE FIGHTS !

Well, in more sophisticated, I'd say to hunters to do their jobs and do it well, not half ! It could come out of RP (even more than the "dai hacker" that i had right today)

Personnally, I'll take next kills from an hunter, which is NOT claiming his bounty in the following week, as abusive and out of role play.
You play an hunter so hunt me, don't kill me for simple pleasure of the blue text and fireworks.

EDIT : If it's not taken in consideration, then look at all the bounties there is in the forum, it could allow any mercenary to turn into a terrorist !

Are you high? You threatening to sanction people because they don't post on the forums?

I have a real life. An actual real life with family and a job and a child on the way and things like mortgages. If I posted on every single kill I made, every single interaction between me and other players, I would have none of the above. Especially the unborn child. I have better things to do than convert images into jpegs, upload them, and then write a post. I'd rather write one when I actually feel like it. And make it funny or entertaining

Maybe we could re-write
Quote:6.21 Attacking without an engagement notice is not allowed. All attacks must be preceded with some form of RP, regardless of NPC faction diplomacy.
as

If you think someone has broken the rules, go ahead and report them. You have my skype - go that avenue in future if you have a problem with any of the faction. You should know better by now.

Gloucester Wrote:Nowadays the Bounty Hunters are working like the Police. They see me chasing a Trader. So they go after me.
(Even when i dont have any Credit on my head) Its bad and people start fearing them more than the Police or Navy. Feck, there are even more BHG|'s in Liberty than cops. Move around. I never see a BHG in Bretonia. And there are Bounties to claim aswell.

In fact i get Bounty Hunters camping bases, Bounty Hunters shooting at me while docking and undocking. Attacking me without having a bit of Roleplay. Sometimes even without an rp'd engagement notice.

I really see a lot of Bounty Hunters Shooting at people which dont have a Bounty.

Remember:

You are not the Police!
You can't live in a consequence free environment. It's taken us well over a year to establish current bounty systems. We increased our presence in Liberty deliberately to counter the Cap 8 Gunboat Pirate gangs phenomenon. That was fun.

If someone is camping a base get a ss and post it to me or post a rules violation report.

Seeing as we are now talking about sanctioning people for not writing on the forums, maybe you should be sanctioned for not reading them properly. Better consult Grimly on this one.

ryeguy146 Wrote:Hmm... perhaps it's time for me to show my face before this turns into an all out flame thread.

I do not like Bounty Hunters. Straight out, let my bias be known. That said, I understand their purpose.

As a pirate, it is not that I cannot pirate every trader that comes along, I rarely do that anyway even if I'm not harassed by your kind. But it has become a bit ridiculous of late. I step out of base and I have about five minutes before one comes down the line and with minimal RP, attacks. I won't complain that I get killed, that's part of being the scum of Liberty, right? But when I get to fly for five minutes at peak time before one runs down the line is downright annoying. At least give some good RP if you're going to rain on my parade.

Now, that's the end of that part of the rant. Some of you DO provide fun RP. Sometimes, I get to fly around on a multi-system chase that ends up usually with my death. Barghests just can't turn fast enough to track ya, but that's part of the fun right? I love those encounters. I end up shaking with adrenaline and have a huge smile on my face. Kudos to those bounty hunters that provide such an experience.

Unfortunately, those experiences that I'd list as fun are few and far between. I mostly just run as soon as I see a tag or IFF now because it's not worth it to stay. Perhaps if you did something about that, I don't know what, you might have more fun too.

But perhaps not.

I'm to blame somewhat as well. I realize that sitting in some of the lanes that I do makes me an easy target. I have begun moving around and not hitting the same place for too long and I'm better for it. I'll tell you what though, if I see less bounty hunters, I'll not shed a single tear. Not a one.

Post here in future. I went to the trouble of opening a faction feedback thread. Do us the courtesy of posting your remarks in it.

Three pirates have surrendered in my time chasing people. Three. The RP thing goes both ways.

This "squeaky wheel" approach to Bounty Hunter role-play is a pain in the back-side, frankly. Any one of you could have contacted any of us in private but you chose to do it in the forums and even then not in the thread we had set up for it. And much of it sounds like sour grapes. As a result...

Heh, I remember doing that.

I think I was in my 4.84 Molly Barghest, and you were on Wes. After I surrendered, we just sat there for around 5 minutes, and I was like, "What now?"

And you were like, "Dunno, no one's ever surrendered before."

I think we ended up RPing out an arrest, and I docked and logged.

I guess if the pirat surrender, he got to pay the Bounty Hunter something like the bounty he have on his head, then he can go freely. Like "pirating the pirats".

Bounty Hunters Guild Feedback - FooFighter - 06-24-2009

It seems like Bounty Hunters aren't really interested in hostages.

I've been on my LR char along with two others, and we were pirating at the trade lane for a while. While we've been doing so, we got jumped by somebody named "BHG|Henry.Jonson.". My reaction? I took the trader we were currently pirating hostage, and told him that either he lets us go or I'll blow up the trader along with his cargo hold full of refugees. Well, he did not even react. He did a minimum of RP before he engaged us, and I've tried to get him to talk multiple times, in vain.

Now, I can see why a Hunter couldn't care less about hostages - all they want is money after all (or so I've been told). That's OK...when there's no chance that the Hunter could be accused of being guilty of the hostage's death. If such an event would become public knowledge, it would mean serious damage to the BHG's image, something they'd probably want to avoid, and thus, I think that this incident was an example of really poor RP from the BHG's side.

Here some screenshots of the incident.

Nathrael

Thank you for bringing this to our attention in the appropriate manner.

I talked to the player in question about this.

I'm satisfied that the measures taken will resolve this http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=41085

Again, thanks.

Greetings,

yesterday the BHG attack Planet Toledo. It's okay.

but..

please work on the RP..

The Player BHG|Rick.Mickey write just '' Engaging ''

u know that's not really enough...

http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/8849/engaging.jpg

Bounty Hunters Guild Feedback - Jinx - 06-30-2009

"engaging" is insufficient - when it is used as the initial notice to announce an attack on an unsuspected target. - it IS sufficient however.... when the fight is already happening and a pilot that just arrived to join in announces himself.

so in order to consider that situation - it needs more informations

- was there already a fight going on and the pilot was arriving late/later?
- was there RP given BEFORE it all - so that the "engaging" was just the notice that the actual attack happened ( like - has there been a conversation before in RP, taunts etc. )
- was the pilot provoked before - so that one cannot speak of an attack on a target that wouldn t expect the attack?

just a little more information about the "whole" situation. - very often, we only get a short scene of a whole incident - and scenes are very different when you see them in a whole.
