Intelligence ID rework - jammi - 05-17-2020

A number of changes have been made to intelligence IDs in order to standardise them, improve wording, remove redundant clauses and add some new gameplay opportunities.

A x3 mining bonus for Azurite gas has been added to each ID, enabled for mining snubs and their relevant House mining freighter. Changes are as described below:

Server staff are aware that neither Imperial or Federal Rheinland currently have a dedicated intelligence faction owing to the ongoing civil war. Due to its previous status, the BDM has been incorporated into this rework. Whether an Imperial intelligence ID will (or should) be created is currently being discussed, and we will provide updates shortly with further information.

In terms of the purpose of this rework, it is intended to allow intelligence factions to take more direct and robust action against one another, particularly in the regions far outside of House control such as the Omicrons.

As an aspect of this, all Intelligence factions have received mining bonuses for Azurite, and the ability to confiscate it anywhere. It is hoped that this will lead to additional conflict in the Omicrons, particularly as the local factions may not appreciate spooks cutting into their markets.

These changes will take effect during tomorrow's routine restart. Please use this thread to provide comments and feedback.

Meh

The new IDs don't explicitly mention their bearers can attack hostiles outside of the ZOI.

If ZOI isn't specified, it defaults to everywhere.

What's the rationale behind the mining bonuses?

Quote:- Can attack ships which belong to non-allied Intelligence groups.

So a KPT ship can zip down to Liberty and pop off on LSF now? Adding "outside of house space" would stop people from openly abusing this

Roleplay wise - none. No roleplay or events have turned towards these factions gaining mining capabilities of Azurite.
Mind you - roleplay like this was required for factions like Core and the others that have bonuses currently in order to obtain this capability, as otherwise not even them would be mining it efficiently:

It's a blatant disregard to the effort that people had to put in and it robs the originality that core/order/aux had in exploiting this commodity. All of a sudden multiple factions received an x3 bonus as if they would even remotely have means of entertaining mining operations all the way in Delta.

Gameplay wise - they want to create more activity and artificial interaction (that imo most people wont enjoy). It will start disputes and agreements that are needed in gameplay but will pour in forcibly into roleplay to motivate them. In short: OORP deals > INRP events

edit: or certain people in charge of such changes are using the excuse of buffing intelligence IDs to give the faction they like certain bonuses (adapteds, zoi, id lines, mining etc). maybe its a conspiracy but who knows?

war, getting shot by the LSF would also stop them from abusing it

Kusari ships are supreme, avengers have no hope of keeping up
