Uncertain Destiny - Einbeck - 10-11-2021

11th of October, 744 A.S.
Omicron Iota

The aging hull of the Donau-class cruiser moved slowly through the dark confines of the Assoros Nebula, after many months spent in a nearby system ensuring the Nomads' superiority. Various Nomad warforms "flew" towards the inside and outside of the cloud, assisted often by vessels of human origin; the abyss of Omicron Iota proving the perfect area for lesser Nomads to develop their ability to "blend in" with the space around them.

In front of the Donau, a structure of gargantuan size appeared. The cruiser had reached its destination, Altair Research Complex. By now, it was a familiar place - many years and months were spent in drydock while the Einbeck was refitted to fit the needs of their "masters".

Yet unlike preceding arrivals, this one was done in a hurry; most of the other ships that would regularly accompany the Einbeck were not to be seen - perhaps remaining at the previous location. Nevertheless, in spite of these events, the human ships and warforms alike worked together like a perfectly-synchronized machine. Within mere minutes, the cruiser was sent to one of the myriad of docking bays and drydock facilities that Altair had.

Its commander, Fynn Meyer, along with several other important staff of the Einbeck, boarded a shuttle and moored with the research complex. The rest of the crew carried out maintenance and resupplied the cruiser with much-needed goods. One of the main reasons the vessel had to be recalled was the malfuctioning battery on the top section of the cruiser, as well as the receival of new directives regarding the recent conflicts between The Order and The Core.

The cycles spent fighting, both directly and indirectly, these two enemies gave significant knowledge upon the new tactics used and allowed them to adapt and turn the majority of situations in favor of the Nomads and their thralls. This would all come at a high price, however, as many vessels from the cruiser's years-old cohort began to fall victims to their archenemies as the battles raged on.

Despite these circumstances, for the time being, the Einbeck and its battle-hardened crew were safe aboard the complex as plans were being made for the short-term future. The duration of this period, while unknown, meant that once over, a difficult task would lay before them. One which would arrive sooner than expected.

12th of October, 744 A.S.
Altair Research Complex, Omicron Iota

The Research Complex was buzzing with activity and unlike the previous day, an even larger group of human craft was positioned near Altair, escorted by lesser Nomad warforms. Fortunately, due to the nebula's ability to render all scanners ineffective, this operation was kept a secret.

Much work has been done for the past day and the short maintenance completed at a rapid pace. Once more, the vessel was capable of enacting the Nomads' reign of terror against their main enemies: The Order and The Core. However, in spite of this, a more urgent matter would soon appear.

The shuttle of the captain departed the complex later that day, carrying all of the staff that had left just one day prior to discuss the new plans. In a hurry, the captain returned to the bridge and elaborated the new objectives with the rest of the crew.

After the briefing was concluded, the personnel returned to their respective stations on-board the cruiser and started the last preparations for departure. Their new task was to head to the Omegas and, while acting as a Rheinwehr asset, cause chaos between both the significant Core presence and frequent Corsair patrols. Most of the crew, were, by that time, experienced in combat situations and knew how to deal with smaller and larger vessels alike. Once there, Kaarst Drydock would serve as the main base for resupply and send reinforcements if the need arose.

Later that day
Omicron Zeta

With the flight checks completed, the cruiser left the safety of Omicron Iota and ventured for yet another time into the vast emptiness that was Omicron Zeta. Alongside it, the fighter escorts followed closely. The difficult part of the journey had begun just now, as evading the myriad of long range scanners put in place by The Order and The Core alike made it difficult to fly undetected. Nevertheless, the group marched on.
