October Discovery Graphics Competition Submissions - jammi - 09-28-2012

This Community has always been (among other things) an artistic one, churning out an impressive amount of high quality graphics each day. To celebrate the rise of the new forum, site staff will be hosting a competition allowing our artists to submit graphics for the forum header. Feel free to discuss the competition in the announcement thread, as non-entry related posts in this thread will be deleted.

So, the rules are as follows:
  1. Each user may submit one image to this thread as their entry.
  2. The image must comply with forum image size rules.
    Two versions of the image must be created - one for the light and dark forum skins.
  3. The deadline is the 6th of October, exactly one week from now.
  4. The admin and moderation teams will shortlist three pieces, then a final community vote will be held on those three.
  5. The winning graphic will remain as the site's header until the conclusion of the next month's competition.

just a kickstarter... clean metal/glass CAD of discovery with some sketching lines. adjusted the one for the dark UI so the shadows are not brighter than the background.

Went with simple design similar to default one.
M submissions:

For white forum background:

There isn't much difference except intensity of glow on lines.

EDIT: Just noticed they need to be smaller, if my work gets chosen I will adjust them to suit the new size regulations.

It's not very good, I know. I'm still busy with classes, started college a bit over a month ago. I made this in a few minutes just to give a basic idea.

Somebody else can feel free to use the idea of this to make something better, I'm just trying to help to make a better logo.
