A New beginning

Platinum Incorporated began with long range probes of the Peace River Asteroid Field that suggested that the field may contain mineral deposits. Further initial surveys suggested that the core of the field might contain vast quantities of valuable Platinum Ore. So far DSE operations were small due to the only recent exploration of the system and the significant pirate presence there.

Two high ranking employees stationed at Camrose then saw this as an opportunity of their own. Koshi Inaba and Floyd G Murphy started what they dubbed as “Platinum Incorporated” a side project of their own. They gathered additional intel on the mineral presence and so the potential commercial use of the Peace River Asteroid Field. It seemed unlikely that DSE would start any large scale mining and survey operations within the field as of yet due to the large security risks posed by the pirate population, even with the additional information that the two officials had collected and analysed. The destruction of Red Deer station two years previously still weighed on the minds of the Camrose management after all.

Inaba and Murphy agreed that the best course of action to profit from their discoveries would be to become fully independent. They’d use the foundations of their previous work as a platform to make Platinum Incorporated no longer a side project of interest but a reality. After the negotiation for the end to their contracts, the two partners decided to utilise the resources and contacts at their disposal to setup a small installation of their own in the system. They drafted in what men they could and in mid 819 A.S. they finished primary construction of a small installation, christened “Platinum Incorporated”.

With its location hidden, partly below the Cold Lake Nebula the company could begin its work of expansion. The two founders, along with Oystein Baadsvik, a long time contact of the pair and fellow ex-employee of DSE who had been invited to help head construction operations, began to systematically add to their bases infrastructure. While initial funds and loans gathered by the group had run out, the base was large enough to store a limited quantity of mined ore beyond the commodities needed for maintenance and construction. With that the company could begin small scale mining operations within the field. With this the mining of the fields Platinum ore on an organised scale had begun. With their small fleet of transports that they had been able to acquire, they were able to ship whatever they had managed to mine. With them finally starting to profit off their project they were able to further finance the expansion of their operations. With the additional ships, crew and modules on their base, eventually they were able to fully reveal themselves to the corporate community of Sirius as officially open for business.

Hungry Expansion

Platinum Incorporated was growing quickly. With their headquarters fully operational a steady stream of customers, working for a variety of corporations across Sirius, kept returning for more valuable ore. The company’s monthly profit margin was on the rise and with each additional recruit filling the bunks and each additional mining ship joining the cramped hangars, the future prospects of the company faired even better.

Quick to see the burden that all the traffic and employees were putting on the station the board was forced to discuss a new option for expansion. They knew the original structure for their station was struggling to cope with the multiple additions made to it, more modules wasn’t the solution. The board came to the conclusion that a new installation altogether, specifically designed to withstand the projected increase in business being brought in by the company would be ideal. With this, plans were put underway for Platinum Incorporated’s second station in the Alberta system.

Months later the team of Architects and Engineers tasked with the design of the new base presented their designs to the corporation. Despite the relatively short period of time given, the board was satisfied and with all the excess capital lying in their vaults they began construction of what would be christened “Rutherford Spaceport”. Construction of Rutherford commenced shortly afterwards, in orbit of Planet Edmonton, where staff on board can monitor the Peace River Asteroid Field more securely, due to their proximity to the field and continue to expand operations in the system.

Rutherford’s progress proceeded well, yet was raising the eyes of many of the miners and other employees on board. The most notable difference between its design and that of Platinum Inc’s headquarters was that of several secure research decks with restricted access. The board recruited a large number of scientists from various fields, mostly Geologists and Xenobiologists, and these men spent most of their time within the labs, with little contact among the regular employees. While it was well known that Platinum Incorporated had hired scientists for some time to study the Peace River Asteroid field and help develop better resource extraction and processing technologies, Rutherford seemed to be developing further into other fields, so early in its construction.

Rumours still fly on board today as to the exact intentions and motivations behind the boards decision to conduct whatever research it is they’re doing. But many are in agreement that Rutherfords construction so close to Edmonton is not just a coincidence. With Rutherford’s completion date set for late 820 A.S. more will become apparent nearer to the time.

Modern day

Platinum Incorporated is a privately owned company that operates out of the Alberta system from the two installations they run. The company deals almost exclusively with the mining and selling of Platinum Ore. Platinum Inc runs a tight knit professional operation which has brought much satisfaction to its long list of customers.

Unlike most of the other large corporations that operate on throughout Sirius Platinum Inc has few external shareholders to answer to and the original Board in remains control of the company to this day. The freedom of not having to squeeze every last credit out of its customers and employees in order to satisfy its stake holders has been a critical part to the company’s success. The company boasts great satisfaction from its customers and employees. The company has invested in a large detachment of security ships bringing unparalleled protection to its base of operations and it’s personnel, whether they being on station or mining or somewhere else across Sirius fetching supplies or striking deals. With their freedom to do as they please, the Board members have authorised much experimental research on ways to further improve the mining efficiency of its ships and convoys. These efforts in turn bringing further business and jobs to the sector.

The company maintains its strong links with DSE and is always looking for cementing further ties with the corporations and officials of Liberty and Bretonia in particular.

Information

Platinum Inc largely operates its sales through its headquarters and Rutherford Spaceport. Teams of miners travel to the field and mine it extensively, while transport teams take the mined ore back to base. Both station purchase Platinum ore for 2500 S.C. and anyone with good standing with DSE is allowed to dock. We openly encourage other independent miners to assist in supplying the bases with ore. The great advantage of our using our installations is that when few traders and merchants are about any miners willing can still make sales through taking their ore to us. Many independent miners choose to do just that but also we welcome larger corporations or factions to do the same. Of course while your free to stay independent we also welcome anyone willing to join our great company with open arms. Advantages of joining us fully includes information on our mining ops and naturally you’ll hear first when we begin selling ore.

We operate by collecting ore until our storage containers are full. Once we’ve reached that stage we’ll then sell it to the public at a price of 4500 S.C. The small profit off sales goes towards the bases maintenance which is costly and also investing in greater security forces to defend miners and transports who use our services alike. Similarly to the situation with miners, traders find the base of great use as can still purchase ore when there are no miners about in the fields. Also they won’t have to wait for some time while miners fill their hold up.

Naturally the demand for ore is high and the base sells it quicker much quicker than it can be mined. This means that we are in “Buy” mode for longer than “Sell” mode. So we advise all who use our services to regularly check our Base Status Neural Net Page for up to date information on whether we are selling or buying ore as well as the quantities on the base itself at the present time.

These are newcomers to the company who successfully passed recruitment phase. They will be given a fully equipped Surveyor Civilian Light Miner with Platinum Inc. identification and enter a trial phase. During this short period, Interns will be expected to participate in mining operations and be present in our S.K.Y.P.E communication channel as much as possible. After The Board is pleased with the results they will be given full Employee status.

These are hard working men and women that proven themselves as Interns. They are fully accepted to the company and are given the option to persue careers in mining, transport and security divisions. Expected to regularly participate in mining operations, base supply or security tasks, they are the backbone of Platinum Incorporated. Some of them, who show good potential and dedication are promoted to Senior Employees.

The Board of Founders

It consists of three original founders of Platinum Incorporated. These men have forged the company from nothing and made it one of the premier mining company's in the region. They have the final word on anything company related. No one knows for certain whats being planned behind the closed doors of their meeting room. To this day, there have been no additions to the board, but who knows what the future holds.
