COMM ID:Jane Hartman TARGET ID: Reginald Lewis SUBJECT:L.A Shipment ENCRYPTION:Moderate PRIORITY:Moderate
Evein' Lewis,
Seem to have run into a bit of trouble with the local law enforcement down on LA. Nothing worse tearing hair over, but they're kicking up a fuss over us taking custody of a cardamine shipment. Thing looks to have turned into a shooting match between some local dealers, but left the shipment they were hauling intact. I got the tip-off before the LPI did, and the damn thing's turning into quite the headache.
They're hauling me off to the station to wade through the resultant paperwork for 'acting in excess of my jurisdiction', but it'd be right handy to have someone I can trust down on-scene to keep an eye on things while I'm dealing with the corporates. If you're available, it'd take a bit of weight off my shoulders. Right now, I'm not inclined to trust the LPI as far as I can throw them.
You'd be looking for Warehouse B-61, down by Stanford Docks. A freighter from Glenbrook, Arden, should already by on-site loading the shipment by the time you get there. A couple of bodies on the ground, but the police should have them bagged when you're touching down. Nothing you haven't seen before, anyway. Glenbrook's flying under one Commander Robert Hume. Give him a call if you run into any issues and can't get hold of me. I wouldn't put it past the LPI to confiscate my datapad the way things are going.

Things didn't go as planned.
[He looks tired, with his left arm in a sling and bandaged tightly.]
I arrived on scene to find the LPI detail had packed up house and left. I'll be requiring an explanation for that, but that can wait.
The Arden's crew had been cornered by at least twelve heavily armed men, with only two of the crew remaining alive. Considering they had jammers in place and I couldn't call for reinforcements, I had to make a judgement call and leave the Cardamine. The lives of the soldiers come first.
By engaging them in a firefight, I managed to secure a window for Lieutenant Jerome Irving and Corporal Harton to make a run for it. However, it was not a clean getaway. I was wounded and Corporal Harton was killed in action.
[He looks away for a moment, before continuing.]
Whatever this is, we're in over our heads. We'll need to get our heads together and figure out what the hell we have stumbled into. And then make a plan of action to stop it, because this is unacceptable.
