I understand RP and things like the recent jumpdrive tests, but, effectively, those already exist in the game even if the specific faction is only just coming on board with them.
I am not trying to stir things up here, but I am not comprehending where this ID is supposed to go.
I guess it focusses on the exploration part of research.

What about limiting the Renzu liner to this ID?
Give it a 20k power core upgrade to support hyperspace scanners. Remove the Counter Measure mount so that the ship cannot cloak.
Lots of storage including the fact that it is outside the jump limit, its a big ship, the sort of thing researchers like, and it repurposes the ship effectively.

As Winter-kun said, if it is supposed to be a true roleplay ID I don't see why there shouldn't be at least some restrictions to the trading aspect of it.
Barges are a whole different animal. You didn't even need an SRP to own one. As long as you were willing to cough up the billions, you could buy one off the market.
The Researcher ID is a hardcore RP ID. Anyone interested in this ID will not mind having to put forth the RP needed in order to qualify for it. Why put out a nerfed Researcher ID, that hardly anybody was clamoring for btw, when we could make one with fewer restrictions, that a hardcore RP'er would love to have and have no problem qualifying for?
We are not going to say what kind of research would qualify for the ID. We have no desire to limit your imagination in this regard. If you are interested in it, you can surprise us. If you are not, but still want to be a 'Researcher', use the Freelancer ID. I believe somebody here may have already suggested that.

Huh, I was pretty sure there were SRP'd Barges, but I might have mixed that up with people mentioning to -want to- SRP one in the past. My bad.
However, I remain skeptical until I see it used, I guess.

Why not adding that to the normal Pirate ID?
Admins must decide what "affiliation" means in Pirate ID. I'd replace that with "Can ally with unlawfuls and Junkers", since Hogosha, Unione Corse (?) and such are rephacked to be hostile - and Zoners would never ally with pirates. Even Xenos do not like Pirate ID, I believe.
Also, pirates wields Freelancer IFF and Pirate IFF will be also a thing. However, both by default do not have allies - see: Miner ID, regarded as thieves even by IMG.
