“Oh? I’ll let the AI handle the journey home then, it’s not like I am not familiar with the ship’s system..” Markus mumbled at Cristina’s words and moved towards the helm’s console, setting the course on the ship’s navigation to the Vespucci system “If you do not mind Cristina, I’ll go find some quarters for me and my guards, we can’t have them at the hangar on standby during the journey.”
“You’re the Captain, do as you please. There are plenty of cabins to choose from.” She simply replied. “I’m sure that you still remember the hallways of this ship. If not, you could always ask your new subordinates to show you and your men around.”
“I remember the Incursus like the back of my hand, thanks for the offer but I’d like to walk without anyone bothering me. The journey to Vespucci will take some time. See you later Admiral”Markus took the lift and descended to the main hallway and he walked it down, took a left turn and found himself in the Officers’ Quarters. After a few minutes of searching, he found the old bunk he used some time ago, before his promotion to the Lord Commander seat. The bed was untouched, so he took off his boots and lied on the bed. He was observing the blue nebulae and the ice fields of Magellan just outside the window. They seemed majestic at the time. His eyes were closing and finally he was asleep.
Several hours later, the Incursus was in Vespucci, under Ravager's watchful eye as it was waiting for clearance. The silence broke when the commanding officer aboard Ravager gave the green light to Incursus and assigned an escort wing to take it to Fort Leniex. The Lord Commander woke up and moved to the ship's bridge where Admiral Hunter and her guard sat and navigating the ship to a mooring place at long last.
The Incursus slowed down as it was approaching Leniex's perimeter and proceeded to the designated dry dock to finally receive the care it deserves from the Legion's skilled engineers and technicians that has not received for a long time.
