Well, you don't HAVE to switch to the LN ID or anything, I'm just trying to help you guys understand where Marines (as they've been written/played up to this point) fit into Libertonian military lore.
If you want to portray a cloak & dagger style spaceborne marine commando team, doing things that aren't typically done by the Navy, that's totally cool and might fit with the LSF ID, though a more refined name might be a good idea for that.
If it's your goal is to represent say...the space equivalent of a "Marine Air Wing", or the entirety of the Libertonian Marine Corps though, you should probably use the LN ID.
S'all I'm saying, and like before, I'm totally happy to help you figure out Libertonian military stuff so you can help refine things and get this group going. ^^
Rewritten a bit as a proposition, but things and ID in game hasn't been changed yet. The current shape would be as in stated in goals.
I would need more clarification onto the name change for LSF ID-ed faction, since I have no idea what would be the (catchy) name, if operations such as sabotage or cooperation with VWA, would be possible.
Liberty Navy, well, can't cooperate in Frankfurt for example. But on the other hand, planetary/base/enemy ship capture duties are mainly maintained by the LN.
You could try something like "112th Force Recon Wing", 112th| or some such could be the in game tag...With the overall faction name being something like "112th Force Recon Wing, MARSOC". MARSOC being "Marine Special Operations Command", which would signify that you're not a 'regular' unit.
Heck, you could even just use MARSOC|- as your tag, so that people would know absolutely that you're Marine Special Forces, and not something else.
I'm not trying to give you a direct name or anything, just a few basic ideas to go with, since I know names can be hard to get to, especially military style ones.
I've came across a few articles about the various SpecOps organizations and divisions I came across this. Actually, I'm kind of thinking to use LSOC tag; Liberty Special Operation Command or just LSO - Liberty Special Operation.
LSOC sounds pretty nice, I believe. Liberty Special Ops Commando. I've been even thinking on the LCU - Liberty Commando Unit.
