Following the attack of Freeport 11, The Core has been disavowed by many of their former allies. While the future of these relations are unknown, for the time being The Core is being stretched thin by the lack of supplies. Money doesn't buy everything.
But what a wonderful opportunity: There's thousands of good-willed pilots bringing essential supplies through the system, except that they're for everyone but The Core. A not too regarding Captain may think about stealing these supplies from the traders participating in the relief effort in order to repurpose them for Core usage, but there would be harsh consequences.
Will you do it and risk damaging the Core's reputation further more, or despite these hard time, will you stay an honorable captain?
Time will tell.
Stolen DROP commodities can be sold on the Core Event Base next to Yaren in Omicron Delta.
This is great, for all the flak that the Core are getting, they've really brought serious activity back to the area and made logging on worth it again!
Sorry to be cynical, but nobody will do this for fear of Zoner-related consequences, unless stuff like being FR5ed with evidence etc is totally off the table, of course. Freeports/Zoner bases in general are the lifeblood of unlawfuls - and let's face it, it'll only be unlawfuls who can make use of this anyway, other than Core themselves - who can't even log transports to move the stuff because they're going to get ganked on sight.
I think the bonus per unit should be much higher then to reflect the increased risk. Right now it doesn't seem worth the trouble for the Core. However, if the bonus was 15000 bonus per unit for example, that would be compelling enough to risk it.

The price is determined by the evolution of the roleplay.
Speaking of, to reflect what happened already tonight, the price is now bumped to 9000/u.
Price is fair.... but You cannot pass, because Junker's working for Core, and waiting with them... Once You Jump, You need to give Your Cargo... Clever...
Not a critizism to the event because it is only fair to have something for the Core side, too. I am definitely for it.
Thought has to be spent - however - on the consequences of this.
The event sets Core up to hunt down transports. Gameplay mechanism makes "blow them up" the only solution because if Core went to the length to escort a transport to their selling point, people would not sell there. Most would dock. Log off. Wait for a quiet time. Sell at Freeport.
Therefore, the only option is: blow them up, and either ignore the loot or get a transport to sell the loot. Realistically, it will be the first option in most cases - which is fine by the way.
What I am a little worried about is that this creates a situation in which Core can only perceived as a monstrosity. I know that Lyth always wanted Core to not be a white knight defending humanity, and that he loves the shady, dark, evil side of Core.... but: blowing up relief transport en masse does not paint you as "shady, dark, subtly evil", but as a monster.
I am currently debating with myself and my HQ how to react to the consequences of having transports on a humanitarian mission attacked.
Irply, things are pretty clear. Imagine a conflict party mass-executing UN relief convoys with military precision, stealing or destroying the goods. Leads to the point "monstrosity", which I think goes too far for even Core.
Oorply, gameplay mechanisms make the softer form of "impounding, selling at Core base" hard to put into reality. Very likely few players (except organised groups + heavy rp indies) would agree to roleplay that leads the to the Core selling point under duress (which would actually be a much better way than blowing things up, for every involved parts). However, as mentioned, it will only work with just a few people - so it is kind of understandable that the "blow them up" solution is prevailing.
I can't offer a solution, as I am still thinking about it myself, however I think this is a point worth thinking about. It would be bad to - at some point when it winds down - see that one is in a position that is very undesirable.
