My character is lvl 38. I take a mission lvl 27, need to kill a group of liberty rogues. Outnumbered and totally destroyed under a wall of shots. I can see now why nobody takes missions, they are not worth it even for new players.
Missions need to give more credits and the number of enemies rebalanced with their mission level. Its absurd that you get sent alone on a mission where you have a higher level and your enemies still can rip you off.
It feels welcoming to have wasted 2 millions for a combat ship that gives you nothing at all.
Your "rank" has nothing to say about your loadout. The rank is just the sum of the prices of your equipment and your money.
Missions are usually challenges, especially in smaller ships. For example, the missions in Omicron Delta spawn small ships in 2-4 waves up to level 30. 30+ include gunboats, 35+ include cruisers and 40+ include battleships. (I don't know if that applies also to all the other factions.)
Ask some other people to do missions with you. Especially when it comes to capital missions, you will desperetely need at least one snub that will draw the fire, while the others do long/mid range bombardements.

I tried, no response.
What is your in-game name, friend? I'll come and do some missions with you when I can.
If you want to use missions to get some quick cash, then you need to stick to the Base Destroy missions.
Be sure to mount a Sunslayer torpedo on your ship and then take the highest paying mission of that kind, which also states that you do not need to kill any additional ships. This way you will only need to destroy the station itself and it is easy to do by lobbing a few torpedoes at it, regardless of the enemy ship level.
Regular kill-ships missions are much harder to do in snubs in general. Watch the video
