This is a private server, and as such we could just outright ban you if we didn't like you, and you know what? There's nothing you could about it. You're a guest here. If we don't want you, then good bye there's the door. But we'd rather be fair so to speak with regards people and give people a shot. But this harsher punishment system is to weed out the trouble makers. Kick and scream all you want, but when you ruin the fun for others, it's time for you to go.
Hey look, the Team finally grew a pair. Nicely done, will be interesting to see how this turns out from here.
Hello Team, after years and years of fake smiles and loads of BS, you finally grew a pair and actually came out and said it. Proud of you, I see progress. But a negative one.
I love the fact that you finally show your face, a face that not just me, but many others wanted to see. We grew tired of the bias, BS, stupid sanctions, and the list goes on but I truly hope you get the point. So, it's this 'Godlike' behavior of yours that make me (i will not speak in others' names in this case) dislike the staff beyond words, yet I still play my game just as if none of you even existed. Why? I simply love the game. Now what I don't love, is a certain admin making up stories for stupid sanctions, adding new rules and reducing x guy to silence because he can green text and x guy can't. Sure you will say 'oh but we're humans, we make mistakes' but when we players make mistakes, does anyone forgive us? No, we get rewarded with harsh rules. So instead of repeating the same excuse over and over again, why not just hand over the green name and piss off from the team moving on with whatever you were doing? It's easier for all and will save the drama and the trashing over Skype/TS/Discord/etc.
The rules are whatever, could be a step back or a positive progress, this remains to be seen. But remember the fact that this is a dying server, and you Admins would be playing with the NPCs if it wasn't for the players. Count to three a couple of times and the server/forum will be like Sahara desert, hot but empty. If that is the staff's goal, just tell us so, so we stop giving a f*** and actually move on to something relevant. The facts remain there, the rules weren't an issue. The staff was/is, or majority of it should I say anyway.
I can live with this new BS rules, but i can't live with certain admin(s) who make mistakes over and over and over again and get away with it easily as if nothing happened, and still hold their spots with green names. That is disturbing and should be fixed.
That would be all.
Great attitude to have Swifty. Oh, you wanted to hide behind your alt? Nah, let's actually use your main forum account, which in times prior alts could only be used for RP purposes, of which this is not. You say we should show our face, you should show yours then. What do you have to hide?
I love this game too, we share that interest at least. As far as playing God's? I'd love to, but even the staff hold ourselves accountable. As I said in the Torp chat, I wasn't involved in that sanction, NOR will we be discussing it here. If you want to carry on, go right ahead. You'll be out of this server in no time with that attitude. That's not bias, that's fact. The actions of an admin, if deemed negative, will be dealt with. Time will tell if admins don't shape up. Hell, I might be one of them and will be removed. I'll deal with it when it comes.
It is high time we showed our faces, as well as how we are tired of people with bad attitudes remaining. People may use the "Well I brought activity". No, not going to fly anymore. If it's activity based on a rule break or people trolling others, or any other negative action that people think they can get away with, we're going to crack down. We're tired of it, we're tired of people thinking they can get away with anything they want here. Not going to happen. If that means the server goes down due to lack of players, then so be it. But I'd rather it go down in a positive light, rather than people with bad attitudes skirting the rules making others quit because of the toxicity here, of which has happened plenty of times.
These new rules are to allow common sense to dictate whether people remain or not. As mentioned again, we'll adjust and provide clarification on certain rules over time given how things proceed. They're supposed to be easier and less cumbersome than the old rules, and allow more freedom. We're going to be less strict on variations of rules, and little nuances, but when you do break a rule that is outright blatant, you will be smacked hard. All of us admins agreed to that.
So have fun, play the game, but don't be a dick, maybe have a better attitude, otherwise there is the door. Thank you.
I wasn't intending to hide, as I am well aware of you being able to find out who I am by my wording and by tracking my IP. Either way, I'm rather amused at the fact that you think I'd miss the chance of speaking up my mind, as always, pretending to be someone else. No thanks.
You talk about being tired about players with a bad behavior, but what when we, the players grow tired of a staff with worse behavior, hiding behind their green texts? Oh I forgot, we aren't allowed, we just play our game right? The same way you are tired of that people's behavior, maybe including myself, that same way the people grew tired for yours, the team's, who got away with ease after every mistake they made and a day later acted as if nothing happened. That's not fair, that's hypocrite.
Regarding the sanction, you know exactly who I was talking about. And I'd like that person to come out and admit publicly his mistake. That would be a positive improvement coming from a staff team member that hides behind the "We're humans, we make mistakes" pretext. No more no less.
As I stated before, rules are whatever in my case. I simply play my game, make it fun for both my party and the opposite party or at least try to and that's it.
I used to have fun, back when disco was relevant. Nowadays I'm a dick because others were dicks to me. ('Treat others the same way you want them to treat you' in case you didn't hear of that saying.) I don't have an attitude problem right now, I'm merely speaking up my mind straight to the point without surrounding anything, I'm sorry if I offend anyone, but just as you'd say, 'enough is enough'.
Quote:4.2 Only one reasonable demand during each piracy interaction, after requesting they stop
- Telling someone to stop is not a demand for purposes of piracy, but they can be destroyed if they refuse
- Demanding 25mil for cargo that would only fetch maybe 10mil is not reasonable
- Demanding they drop their shields is not a reasonable demand that you can destroy them for if they refuse (Though if they do, good for you pirates) - Demanding they drop cargo AND credits is multiple demands, and not allowed
- Demanding they give you their pants is reasonable inRP, but you can't further demand credits
Bye bye piracy
I hope this is a joke, but sadly April already passed... This will kill pirate encounters and opens up a huge risk of sanction with no reward. Piracy is already hard enough with the rules we had, so why did you neuter it?
Demand they go somewhere before you take their stuff? Sanction.
Ask for anything in character for flavor and also demand money? Sanction.
Interrogate them and ask more than one question? Sanction.
Ask for cash and cargo (e.g. fines for mining in your territory)? Sanction, unless you're a House Police ID then feel free to pirate at will.
How did someone look at this and go "Yeah, the community will be way better off now."?
I think that separate piracy rules are completely unneeded and can be easily removed and covered by 1.2 on a case by case basis.
Alternatively, keep the rule as
4.2 Piracy demands must be kept within reason and abide fairplay between players.

* The victors of the PVP encounter may allow the defeated player to stay within the system if want to.
4.3 Docking during combat with hostiles in docking message range (15k) counts as PvP Death, except for Traders
This should be brought up again. We have a fairly sizable amount of players who use transports and freighters for PVP. How does this rule differ between players who use transports for PVP?
Perhaps adding that "Traders who have docked during a combat engagement may not partake in an active engagement unless in self-defense." or similar. But then we are slowly returning to our original asterisk-filled rulesset.

That probably encapuslates what we were after.
Then please remove the specific about there being ONE demand. If there are two consequetive demands that are used in order to coax a trader to decline the demand and be killed, it falls under said rule above and 1.2 . Remove the ''one demand'' part and there should be no more problems the rule catching demands that are a RP consequence rather than a piracy demand.
