First of all, BIG thank you for spending your weekend just before Christmas to ensure we all can play.
Having a backup, but be unable to restore it really sucks, it happened to me as well at one point. Glad you finally overcome it. Im curious what was causing the trouble, but better to keep these things in secrecy. We do not want to give THEM even more information, than they already have.
The worst thing about this accident was not knowing what is going on. Game down, Forum down, Wiki down, no info anywhere. Please, do not take this wrong, im just trying to be constructive. Next time, it would be great if you could put some info on Facebook and maybe promote some other ways of getting info in case the web is down (i heard there is some skype, but without forum no way to get contact, IRC is always great, ...). Maybe redirect web to some simple page saying you know about the problem and actions are being taken. I honestly thought it was DDOS.
Oh wauw, this is awsome news and verry welcomed.
Thanks ally for you,re expertise.
I indeed heard rumors about one of the admins/devz , tryt to ask for confirmation but never got any from one of the admins and thus had to remind my self they where just that. Rumors.
Great job Alley and the entire staff. Thanks we have you here.
And I have to admit all the effort and willingness of one person, Sombra, who was trying really his best to help everyone as much as possible. Really man, your doughtiness wondered me. Kudos to you mate.
You did an outstanding job Alley, I agree it's disgusting how some people reacted to this situation, while yes it would have sucked if the forums had to be restarted as a community we should have been coming together to help resolve the problem not bicker and whine or in some peoples case they were just going to abandon the community entirely.
I'm massively thankful that you were able to fully restore the forums =)
It sucks that it happened, but awesome that it has been fixed.
Big thanks to Alley for making the effort to get things sorted and having the foresight to put stuff in place beforehand to make things a little easier to bring back.
Something similar happened to the Emperor's Hammer Star Wars club recently.
Someone decided it would be good to hack the clubs database and change things around.
Fortunately various people in the club rallied around and got the problem sorted.
It's good to know we have people who give a damn about what we do for relaxation.
