I had just woken up and was spammed on skype to log despite being absolutely starving
Wesker, on the Manticore, had to leave.
Phantom, [HF]-Chase, had to sleep.
Everyone else chose to leave on their own volition and I can hardly blame them, considering it was a cap fest and all but one of them were in fighters. I definitely would've stuck around and kept everyone else around to do some talking and perhaps krieging afterwards, but I just really didn't have it in me at the moment. After all, this is a game and we're only human.
Still, I apologize to anyone who was hoping for some more interaction with the [HF] tonight beyond "Hey, look at the red shooty lasers hitting the squids."

People will always prefer to flee rather than risk losing their scientific data. And they'll always try and find an excuse to do so. Would you spend 40 minutes shooting overpowered NPCs just to lose your reward in the end because the enemies picked you as first target? I know I wouldn't.
If Scientific Data wasn't as rare and dangerous to gather then people would've been more willing to risk it.
This problem wouldn't occur when we actually would've a points-based system. But this, despite being pointed out, doesn't reached to the higher-ups as a valid functional system. Despite -this- system being in place in every other damn MMO that's not WoW.
To add to the above hubbub, all I can say is that Discovery - more than ever, although it's never really deserved the title - is a low-RP server trying to masquerade as a high-RP server. I have seen /tg/'s SS13 servers offer a higher standard of overall roleplay than you could find if you spent the same amount of time flying around on Disco. You have more ships with names here than you do actual characters - for most people, it seems like the character development process begins and ends at typing Firstname.Lastname and thinking about how exactly they plan on typing their engagement notice today.
This isn't entirely a bad thing, since the main causes of it like ooRP cliques and the game itself being about 100,000x more suited for PvP than being a roleplay platform ended up letting me get friendly with people who I still keep in contact with years after they quit here entirely, but I am still personally miffed that it took me so long to realise that finding anything of actual substance on Disco from a roleplay perspective is entirely dependent on good luck and/or knowing the right people. Dressing a PvP encounter up with a veneer of roleplay and calling it substantial is like garnishing a cake with lettuce to try and make it healthy.
With all this in mind, are you really surprised people prioritise the ooRP motivation of getting their hands on something shiny than getting some illusion of satisfying RP out of cookie-cutter banter?
1.) [LN] had ceasefires with both Order and A/)
2.) My character, a reserve admiral, wasn't in the mood to screw up ceasefires all willy-nilly just cause ships seemed ripe for the picking
3.) Then my character witnesses that A/) starts shooting at Order cause wtf why not, amiright?
4.) Then fellow [LN] and 5th| think about joining in attacking Order, admiral goes to say, "don't you dare shoot"; thankfully, they don't
5.) Seeing as how the A/) and Order are still shooting at themselves, the problem seems to be solving itself. Two birds with one stone, eh?
6.) Besides... Admiral's mainly there to nab herself some Nomad stuffz for her own research
7.) ::: 1 hour of intense Nomad Remains, Data, and Relic transfer and escort of Dunkirk carrying buttloads of scientific data later :::
8.) RP was success!
So yeah... I'd say my character got what she came for in that event. An RP event isn't just exclusive to the party location, but it's also ongoing when the party goers have dispersed, and have made their plans for the rest of the night.
Same as here. My RP didn't intend to stick around that long. I had other plans for tonight after the main party.
From the Bretonian side I dont see any fault to be honest.
Yes we could have shot the Order cap that was already outnumbered 10 to 1 the least but we decided against it because of obvious reasons.
Apart from that we RPd the situation out from BPA escorting caps to the scene, during the fight and after it escorting a cap back with the BAF.
Neither A/) nor [HF] are enemies of ours so there is no reason to open fire on them not to talk about the alliance with the Navy.
Play2win is rolling Disco2017, Spazz. You offered people to go yalalala into the mess of big ships and elite factions. That's not safe. Someone could get killed and provide his lil' blue to the wrong person.
You know all that, but you are still using your good intentions, instead of using your huge experience. You hope. Then we come here and tell you where to put your admin rights. What did you expect?
We want evil admins! I mean... Did you siege something recently? Did you gank, or have any fun since... when?
You could spawn badass enemy NPC fleet A into house B. Defenders of B could PvE, but faction A players might come too, to help their NPCs (as they would never raid B otherwise). NPCs could drop admirals in case you need to motivate players to play. But you must be there for fine tuning NPCs.
Hey... Sorry for sharing my point of view so directly.
