I don't really like either circumstance. On one hand you have the inability to report what just happened, giving full benefit to the attacker, and on the other, full benefit to the scouter; with the ability to report EVERYTHING. I would definitely like to see more players choosing to take a middle-ground, as you wouldn't have absolutely everything due to the variables listed above. However, you would definitely have witness account, among a few other concrete things.
Freelancer, as a game, was never really designed to be taken in this direction, and a lot of limitations in technology at the time left most of this up to us. The developers were trying to make the game coherent, accessible, and fun; they didn't force a roleplay reason that you can't know what system people are in, where they're at, etc etc, that's up to us to decide.

In the Omicrons? Yup, land on Crete with your Core ship and get the keycode access to the transmitters. Omegas? Same deal. Pirated in Leeds? Warzone, I doubt there's any civilian networks available. Stuff is damaged. Smog clouds too.

That is the reason people have mobile internet access. Basically allows you to connect anywhere.
Yes, but that means you need the actual transmitters within the system, or being near one, or actually having access to it for it to actually function. Space is big. There's interference in space. Systems are very large.
Yes, but in the case of the linked, you (or any other Auxesian) took down the vessel in an occupied system. (Probably.) Doing so in Minor or any other stationless system would make sense.

The Azurite Reactor is definitely not occupied. The Omicrons are known for their interference, as are the Omegas, or even Sigmas. Like I said.

It was directed at everything and everyone, not just that.

That's true, it leaves no inbetweens - and only logically will the Nomads be able to use information after death. I'd also like to incline adding allies or escorts to the exceptions of showing evidence. Flying alone isn't the wisest thing to do. Although, there could be some form of inbetween of only allowing certain amount of lines/words, or a select number of screenshots to be used - granted, if the ship was actually in House Space, but that still defeats the purposes of doing Corporate Piracy, for example.
