If somebody put lots of work into creating new fight + danger + background + Nebula + Asteroid field music for lots of different systems of the mod, following Freelancer vanilla music style lines, would it, could it, get into the mod if viewed up to quality standards?
Listening to that default soundtrack gets old - and I like to play my Discovery stock install.

its up to devs if they wanted to make it a default modification for the mod, however you can offer it for others to download it since it doesn't trigger any anticheat if you only replace the audio files and not change the path to it
People want to believe that God has a plan for them.
They don't wanna believe that anyone else does..
As far as I know that should be legal as swagpack includes some music modifications. I also know that a lot of people change the noise that cloaking ships make and that seems to be legal.
I mean if we're talking original music, that's a bit more difficult, considering a composer would need to step forward and offer to help. The best most can manage atm is transplanting tracks from elsewhere to replace FL music files.
If there were a composer willing to help (for free, even), that'd change the game a bit.
Each system has three pre-defined soundtracks for it. Space, Danger and Battle. Those are mostly the same per region, however they COULD be individualized by altering the .ini file of the particular systems. Theoretically, if we had for example one basic track and make different versions of it for each system, you could give each libertonian system something that sounds pretty Liberty-ish but is different per system of Liberty.
However, we would need to find someone who is good at that and doesn't just remix stuff or like it is with Discovery's soundtracks, sneak them from Kevin McLeod (Gallia).
But let's be fair, there is no need for that, apart from Gallia. The vanilla soundtrack is awesome, and if you don't want to hear it, make a back-up of the folders
and then switch out the soundtracks you like. Not only do you get something that suits you personally more, but you also spare someone else the work on composing new soundtracks that in the end rather not sound fitting for Freelancer. I think there are only so many people having issues with the vanilla soundtrack, others just turn the music off and use a playlist or alter the music files.

Can we update the mod's music with new original scores?
It's going to be a process , first you will have to make the new audios and then release it to see if peoples likes it, then devs may hold a vote to see if they want to make it a default for the mod or not
You can start by replacing current files from "AppData\Local\Discovery Freelancer 4.88.1\DATA\AUDIO" with anything you want as long as you don't modify the file names, modifying the file names it won't be played unless you modify other files which would create a log on the server thous being noticed by the admin team and being asked to revert it to original files
If you need more help figuring things out what sounds are played by what action just do a quick search in notepad++ or ask someone
Honestly I think it would be silly to change the existing music through the mod unless there was an easy option to opt out of the change. Even then it seems a bit unnecessary since it is so easy to just change it yourself or get someone else's music mod. Now if there was a way to randomize the music for combat and a few similiar tracks could be added to add diversity to the existing tracks without replacing or removing them I could see something like that making more sense to be included in the mod or I would be interested in what was posted earlier about making some of the generic music more individualized to the house/area.
