The Riese, which means giant is the second barge acquired by Daumann Heavy Construction. It was bougt after the first barge, the Wohlstand was sold to a private research group for 1 billion credits during the company's stock crash towards the end of 819 A.S.
On the second quarter of 819 A.S, Daumann finally saw the light, after four painful months of recovery from the stock crash, and purchased the barge for 3 billion credits from an unknown party, a bargain price compared to the 6 billions some other parties paid for the now rare barge, which due to alleged illegal use of the vessel, its production was ceased by the A.D.M.I.N.
Operations
The main purpose of the Riese differs from its predecessor. It was located in Munich, and serves as an aluminum store and exchange point. The Riese does not process aluminum into ingots, the ores is classified and stored for further sale as is.
Research And Development
Daumann R&D department, and the company's subsidiary, Daumann Arms Division, have set up a laboratory for the purpose of studying aluminum as a multi-purpose material. R&D employees numbers varies but it ocassionally holds around 30 specialists on different fields
Base Security
Base security has set up a classified operations room in the ship. Due to its highly restricted access and its secure design, the ship makes a great prison ship where it is believed base security performs interrogations of captured criminals, or used for meetings with underground subjects, this information is not admitted officially. Base security holds around 300 security agents.
Storage Control
Storage control makes up the main workforce on the station, with nearly 3000 employees working in the department. The Department is controlled jointly by Trade and Commerce management and Operations management.
Interesting facts
- The Daumann family built a secret hall in the ship, for security measures in case they were forced to evacuate their assets.
- Base security employees on board the barge are selected among the most loyal.
- Despite the security measures, Riese's security workforce is 80% smaller than its predecessor the Wohlstand.
- Both the Wohlstand, and the Riese deals were done with parties from Omicron space.
- Daumann designed an assault vehicles line specifically designed to fit in the barge, and is now aiming to commercialize it.
