Overview

NPC Affiliation: Gallic Metal Service

ID: Gallic Metal Service ID

Faction Tag: [GMS]

Gallic Metal Service S.A. (GMS) is one of the largest corporations in Gallia, and one of the few left that operate independently of the Crown. GMS currently operates within Gallic systems held by Royalist forces, and the Taus, Kusari, and Bretonia within Sirius proper under the relatively new External Operations Division.

History

Gallic Metal Service was formed in 314 AGS (398 A.S.) by merging several mining companies operating across Gallic space. Over the centuries, the corporation expanded her influence across Gallic space, laying claim to any and all exploitable space resources by virtue of daring exploration and careful corporate absorption, most notably, Arcadia Materiaux Distribution. While smaller mining companies do operate in Gallic space their share is no more than five percent of the market.

With ten percent of its stake controlled by the government and no executive representation from the same, GMS is one of the few Gallic corporations that isn’t heavily influenced by the Crown. While work on mining operations planetside and in space can be very dangerous, high salaries and extensive social services - such as housing, medical, and educational provisions - are attractive enough for many colonists who seek a better life and have no intentions of joining unlawful groups.

The GMS's relatively low level of government control has afforded them a nearly unprecedented level of autonomy. Autonomy carefully maintained by gracious affability to the crown and careful internal management to avoid any cause or need for "offered" supervision by military of political bodies; resulting in a company well versed in taking care of its own, personnel and problems alike.

Corporate Information

The recent breach of the Gallic-Sirian barrier has afforded a unique opportunity for a select few members of the company to scout, claim and exploit those resources which might be discovered within a relatively unknown Sirius. Out of necessity, the External Operations Division was created to more effectively manage operations outside of Gallic space and some more esoteric tacts have been taken to ensure the safety of those working for the company.

Technology

Gallic Metal Service, does not employ a security wing as such or heavy capital-class craft. The mining craft, instead, have been specially fitted for both mining and defense. The small fleet of dedicated fighter snubcraft is only utilized as escorts for high-profile passengers. The following is a list of the ships in common use by GMS.

Employee Security

Jean Pierre LeBlanc

Since the beginning of the Second Gallic War, the Gallic Metal Service had generally kept out of the Council-controlled systems, at present Languedoc and Champagne. However, when the barrier between Gallic space and the rest of the Sirius Sector was removed by Council forces, the Gallic Corporations saw opportunity in the space beyond her borders.

In order to ensure the safety of employees and their families, be it from the Maquis, Brigands, Corse, Council, or even Royalist pressure due to perceived disloyalty, GMS instituted the Anonyme Programme, effectively hiding the individual identities of their employees. When dealing with anyone outside the company, men use the moniker Jean Pierre LeBlanc, women Jeanette LeBlanc. This extends into neural net video transmissions between GMS and outside organizations as well, with which the video transmission is recorded by an actor.

Due to Gallic Law, however, and requirements from the Office of His Majesty, the Board of Directors is required to leave their identities public. In substitute of the Programme, a security team is provided for each Director and their families at the expense of the company.

Archism

While not a requirement to be a part of the company, most members of GMS are also practicing Archists. Dating to the early 7th centuy A.G.S., Archism is primarily a belief in an entity known as Ze Arch, a formless entity to which tribute is paid. Ze Arch, in most senses, is a typical deity of monotheistic religions, being all-powerful and all-knowing. Recently, however, some members of the religion report to have encountered an entity with the title Nash that is said to be a carrier of the spirit of Ze Arch.

As an alternative to standard monetary offerings in most religions, the majority of GMS miners believe that the ore they mine and transport is for the benefit of Ze Arch. This can be traced back to the following passage in The Book of Curves.

"And thus Jean Pierre was commanded to go forth in His name and extract from the cosmos that which was necessary for the creation of a great fleet, which would carry the body and spirit of His children throughout the same in the name of peace."

Members of the Church of Ze Arch are most often tolerant in their beliefs when conversing with others, however, any insult to Ze Arch is considered extremely offensive and can result in aggressive actions.

While GMS is home to the largest segment of Archist populations, the religion has spread throughout the decades since its formation, being practiced by notable members of the Gallic Royal Police and a growing segment of Gallia's civilian population.
