History

Kiyoshi Sato was born to a family of farmers on Planet Kyushu in 735 AS. Unlike most of his extended family, he was never particularly interested in the farming life, always wanting to explore the distant horizons. His dream was finally met when, at the age of 20, he joined Samura as a transport pilot. This required a significant amount of training, but Kiyoshi showed himself to be a quick study. His greatest learning experience came when he began to work on the Kunashir soon after a promotion.

Aboard the Kunashir, Kiyoshi met a man who would serve as a mentor and friend for many years, Ichiro Takahashi. Ichiro taught Kiyoshi all he needed to know about transports and the way of life associated with it. They soon became good friends, even to the point of Ichiro Takahashi naming his son after Kiyoshi. Later, this same son would marry Kiyoshi's only daughter, Izumi.

As time went by, both good and bad things occurred. Kiyoshi's and son-in-law and daughter were both killed, following complications caused by the Sprague Plague in 813 while on a business trip to the Omegas. On a positive note, he succeeded his friend as captain of the Kunashirand was later chosen as head of Planet Kurile Economic Development, as well as serving as interim Director of Public Relations for a short time.

Currently, Kiyoshi lives with his wife at their home on Planet Kyushu when not captaining a mission to the edges of known space. He has recently begun to make peace with his granddaughter, but such is a work in progress.
