The Westliche Rheinland Flotte is a provincial military force. As the name suggests, WRF's areas of operation is the western part of the Rheinland Republic. The main task of the West Rheinland Fleet does not differ from the Central Military forces; we protect civilians, guard our borders, hunt down pirates and other enemies of Rheinland, and uphold the law.

History It keeps saying, military needed in the world since menkind rule the planet. The primary reason for the existence of the military is to engage in combat, should it be required to do so by the national defense policy, and to win. This represents an organizational goal of any military, and the primary focus for military thought through military history. These are true to Western Rheinland Flotte too. The WRF is a Heeresgruppe what is the highest level organizational grouping of military units. Borned after the Popular Revolt, formed from the remained imperial military units in the beginning of 8th. century. There was more Heeresgruppe, the task of the West Rheinland Fleet originally was keeping up the peace and law in the western part of Rheinland, protect the borders from pirates and against a possible Bretonia campaign. The Headquarter of WRF was on Planet Stuttgart, this is the centre of the WRF operation area. Because the central system is rich, the governor of Stuttgart system, whose responsibility the supply of the local army, kept up on high level, all the time. Sadly, in the so called Nomad War, its flagsip, Battleship Votan destroyed in Cambridge system and the whole West Rheinland Fleet crumbled in Bretona and the Tau systems. Thanks for the Synt Food and so to the Liberty Stuttgart had enough money and influence, how the fleet rebuilt very quickly short after the war finished. The governor made a good business deal with Daumann Heavy Construction, the WRF will protect the corporation interests in the Omega systems, for it they get the finest ships and weapons for cheapest prize. In the name of contract the WRF send more and more patrol to the Rheinland-occupied Border Worlds, and into Omega-3 too.

West Rheinland Fleet's function WRF's purpose - with accomplishing the below written tasks -, help to Rheinland Republic with his armed force, for reaching his goals, so help keeping the state's sovereignty and protecting constitutional order.

West Rheinland Fleet's tasks: a) Keep up the law in the WRF operation area. b) Protecting Rheinland civilians and other visitors from pirates and other unlawful elements hostile actions. c) Keep up the free traffic between Bretonia and Rheinland, so help growing the economy. d) Guarding Rheinland Border and defend it against any hostile forces. e) detect the aggressive intents against Rheinland Republic f) detect the foreigner military intelligences activity what against Rheinland Republic's sovereignty, and harm to national defence of Rheinland. g) detect smugglers and weapon dealers what against the law and hurt to national defence of Rheinland, and terrorrist organisations what threatening the rheinland armed forces safety. h) participate the detection of internationally controlled products illegal traffic and trade. i) grant to the Central Rheinwehr the back-up if they need our forces, and help them anywhere where needed.

Service Regulations

The West Rheinland Fleet is a provincial army that is a part of Rheinland Military. As part of the central forces all pilots must follow their laws and regulations, and will execute any order from a highest ranking officer, unless it conflicts with ours or our about same level officers dont give another order.

As a provincial army, the WRF will have the main job of protecting Stuttgart and the Omegas, the western part of Rheinland; however we will assist a pilot or battle group of the main fleet if they request it. Our major goal is protecting Rheinland and the lives of its citizens. Any order that conflicts with our major goal will be ignored. A WRF pilot will follow orders from the central forces as long as the order has a good reason for it. Doubtful orders will be ignored.

Structure

Military organization is hierarchical. The best analogy to explain the structure of the Fleet is a collection of building blocks called sub-units that are combined in different ways to form larger groups that are known as units. Different combinations of these units can in turn be put together to form larger groups, known as formations. The basic structure of the Fleet is outlined below. Like at other Military, the executive control, management and administration of military organizations is typically undertaken by the Stuttgart Government and the Ministry of Defence.

Military Pay

Because the Heeresgruppe build mostly 2 different type combat group - largel naval ships and crews and small supporter fighter/bombers and single pilots - the payment is different too. The cost of larger ships and crews payment is the Ministry of Defense's responsibility, the single pilots payment come from Stuttgart Government and WRF HQ. Service pay for pilots come after ranks and assignments.

Promotion

A promotion is the advancement of a soldier's rank or position in an organizational hierarchy system. Experience bring new position with higher power, responsibility and payment. Of course a higher ranked can command a lower ranked member, limit hanging the 2 rank's difference. Some of our rank only the pilot's combat skills ability to function, but same hanging from assignment or post.

After a time for the next promotion need to be a group's leader or co-leader. For it WRF Flottenkommando reassign the pilot into that wing where the necessary assignment empty. Promotion will be holding back if no free place for the new leader or co-leader. Upon promotion of a member the next one in line takes the empty position.

Formations at supporter fighters/bombers

Rotte (squad) - contain 2 pilot. The Basic fighting unit. Comprising a leader (Rottenfuhrer) and wing-man (Katchmarek). During cruising flight the two aircraft flew almost in line abreast about 200yd apart, each pilot concentrating his search inwards so that he covered his partner's blind areas. In combat it is the wing-man's duty to guard his leader's tail, while the latter did the fighting. This is the lowest unit, not the single fighter, so noone start fighting alone in not necessary, always with his wingman, whatever the number of the enemy. Minimal rank for Rottenfurer is Jager. Payment for Rottenfurer's post: +500.000 $/month

Schwarm (section or platoon) - contain 4 pilot. Two Rotte made up a Schwarm, with the leading Rotte flying to one side and slighty ahead of the other (finger Four). The Rotte and Schwarm are both TACTICAL formations. The better/more experienced pilot leads, skill is the decisive factor NOT rank and/or seniority, but usually the higher rank mean more experience too. Minimal rank for leading a Schwarm is Oberjager or above, until Leutnant. Payment for Schwarm leader post: +1.000.000 $/month, co-leader get +500.000 $/month

Staffel (Squadron) - contain 8 pilot. Nominal strength of 8 aircraft. A Staffel formation comprised of two Schwarme stepped up in line astern. The staffel was the lowest grade of formation within the organisation. Commanded by a Staffelkapitan, usually an Oberleutnant or Hauptmann, members of it's flying personnel would supervise the technical and signals branches as secondary duties. Payment for Staffelkapitan's post: +1.500.000 $/month, co-leader get +1.000.000 $/month

Geschwader (Wing) - contain 16 pilot. In the Geschwader comprised two Staffeln and a Stab (Headquarters flight). The Geschwader is the basic flying unit for operational and administrative purposes. When orders were given for moves of flying units, the recipients were usually Geschwaders. Normally one complete Geschwader occupied a single Battleship, occationally individual Staffeln might be detached from their parent Gruppe for operational reasons or to re-equip. The Geschwader commander carried the title of Kommandeur (Kdr.) and is usually a major or higher, under his command he had an adjudant, specialist technical officers and a medical officer. Payment for Kommandeur's post: +2.000.000 $/month, co-leader get +1.500.000 $/month.

Formations at naval ships

Capital vessels are not assigned to specific wings. Capital ships NEVER fly alone, they must bring fighter/bomber escort at all times. It mean, clearly naval group not exist, only combined forces with support fighter/bomber crafts. A gunboat needs at least 1 escort. A cruiser at least 2 and a battleship at least 4, a battleship may have a gunboat as escort instead of 1 fighter. If there are not enough escorts available, the capital ship cannot take off. If the deployment of the capital ships is too important, escorting may be given by other fighters of the military. Formations are the followings: Kompanie (Company) - Contain minimum 1 gunboat and 2 fighter/bomber Division (Division) - Contain minimum 1 cruiser, 2 gunboat and 4 fighter/bomber Flotille (Flotilla) - contain minimum 1 battleship 2 cruiser 4 gunboat 8 fighter/bomber

The Services - Non-combat units

The service, or combat support, corps enable the arms corps to operate effectively in the field.

Transport, supply and maintenance Originally the Navy had two main service corps: the Ordnance Corps and the Service Corps. Ordnance was generally responsible for machinery and ammunition. It organised the supply and storage of ammunition and the repair and maintenance of machinery, vehicles and weapons. The Service Corps was responsible for the transport and provision of supplies and rations other than machinery or ammunition; this included the delivery of mail to the troops. This corps also provided additional transport resources for moving troops. In the latter years of the Nomad War and in the years after, these two large corps were split into several smaller corps with the following responsibilities: Ordnance: The provision of all supplies to Fleet units and the management of personnel. Transport: The transport of supplies from depos to the combat units, mail and personnel. Larger transportations by Republican Shipping. Electrical and Mechanical Engineers: The maintenance, recovery and repair of machinery, vehicles, electronic equipment and weapons - these are lesser maintainces the major poblems fix at Oder Drydock, by Daumann enginers. Catering: The provision of meals and the management of mess facilities. Managed by local Synth Foods. In more recent times, the trend in the Fleet has been to call the foregoing "logistics" units and to integrate them into support groups, a concept in many ways similar to the original Service Corps.

Military Police One other corps, essential to the smooth functioning of the supply system but not part of the transport, supply and maintenance group is the Military Police. The Military Police are responsible for traffic control along supply routes to ensure the most effective use is made of these Trade Lanes. They are also charged with the enforcement of discipline, including the investigation of crimes against military regulations, the operation of military prisons, and the processing and detention of prisoners of war.

Medical services The other major grouping within the service corps is the medical services consisting of four corps: Medical, Nursing, Dental, Psychology. The Medical Corps is the major medical service, responsible for the training of medical staff attached to all other army units as well as the provision of medical, psychiatric, physiotherapy and sanitary services to the army. The other three corps are small and specialist in nature.

Specialist Corps There are also a number of smaller corps, the roles of which are self explanatory: Band, Chaplains, Education, Legal, Pay.

Forced to abandon their initially colonised worlds due to a natural disaster, they made their way to Sirius and ultimately settled in the remote Tau systems. Possessing a sizeable military and economy, they have since became one of the most serious threats to Outcast smuggling operations in the area as well as one of Bretonia's competitors for influence in the resource rich Tau border worlds.

- Freelancers - Freelancers don't belong to any of the Sirius factions. They work for themselves, seeking new worlds and systems, glory and fame, money, or just trying to survive in a universe full of dangers. Over time the Zoners have evolved into an influential and rich faction that invests a lot into deep space exploration, much like The Order. When The Order allied with Corsairs, Zoner relations with the Outcasts became no less tense than with the Corsairs. However, the Zoners of Omicron Theta felt they were powerful enough to defend themselves from both factions and, to this day, skilfully use the antagonism between Outcasts and Corsairs for their own benefit.

Unfriendlies: - Blood Dragons - The Blood Dragons are a terrorist organization supposedly descended from the royal guard of Shogun Hideyoshi -- deposed during a coup several centuries before -- and are dedicated to the overthrow of the current Kusari government. Now, the Dragons oppose Hogosha and Corsair influence in Kusari with the help of their allies, the Outcasts and Golden Chrysanthemums.

- Corsairs - The Corsairs originate from a larger group of Hispania sleeper ship survivors that landed on planet Crete. They are believed to be the largest criminal organization operating in Sirius -- frequently attacking civilian, commercial, and even military targets. Now, the Corsairs and their allies are fighting a Sirius-wide war for power and influence with an old enemy, the Outcasts, and their supporters.

- Deep Space Engineering - Deep Space Engineering has an exclusive contract with fellow Liberty company Ageira Technologies to build Jump Gates and Trade Lanes throughout the Sirius Sector.

However, the evolution could not eliminate predatory instincts and aggressiveness of this race. Nomads treat all other species, except for their former masters, as hostile.

- Phantoms - The Phantoms are a small terrorist organization, utilizing advanced technology and vicious tactics to achieve their objective. Stated goals are the elimination of the corrupt House governments, although rumors persist of darker motives. The Phantoms are feared even by pirate groups with whom they contact to get supplies, resources, and information.

- Red Hessians - The Red Hessians are a numerous and well-organized criminal group composed largely of unemployed miners operating out of Rheinland space who attack civilian and commercial targets of opportunity. - The Coalition - A group of descendants of the Coalition nations who escaped Sol on board of the overloaded Hispania Sleeper Ship, the modern-day Coalition occupies one remote Omega system, faithful to its traditions, but unable to influence the events that change the political map of the Sirius Sector in any significant way.

- The Wild - During the Nomad War (799-802 A.S.), a large fleet of Rheinland invaded Kusari. When ultimate victory was near, news about coup d'etat in Rheinland forced the Nomad-infested officers and soldiers to flee home. Scattered by GMG and Red Hessians on their way back, they had no chance of overthrowing the new government. Now known as The Wild, they settled in a remote Omega system, building more ships and gathering forces. The Wild are merciless predators who attack any lawful and unlawful ships that get into their way.

- Unioners - The Unioners are an outlaw group composed of dispossessed Rheinland shipyard workers who engage in brutal reprisals chiefly against Republican Shipping. Expansion into the Independent Worlds changed agenda of most Unioners from terrorism to piracy. Disappointed with results of their former alliance with the Corsairs and trying to maintain friendly relations with other unlawful groups of Rheinland, the Unioners are one of the pirate factions that did not choose any side in the war between the Outcasts and the Corsairs.

The law of Rheinland and orders in Omega systems

Piracy We don't tolerate noone who block the free movement, the free trade and unduly demand anything from anyone. Zero-Tolerance against pirates and known pirate groups. We don't care your tales and stories. All of them are cancer in the body of the State so pirates will be shot on sight.

Ship Class Restrictions in Rheinland - All Battleship and Cruiser class vessels other than Rheinland Military tagged ships are BANNED from Rheinland, unless with permission from an Admiral, other then that there are no exceptions. - All Cruiser and Battleship class vessels allowed under special circumstances, are to keep a 10k distance from any Rheinland based Planet. - Gunboats, Bombers, and Figthers have permission to stay within Rheinland based planet orbits, but are to move if asked. - The Rheinland government has completely forbidden the operation of BHG capital ships inside of Rheinland territories bar notified and authorized logistic activities (pass through Rheinland to reach other systems). Any ships disregarding this regulation will be deemed criminals and dealt with accordingly. IF YOU DO NOT COMPLY AT ANY STAGE, YOU WILL BE SHOT ON SIGHT.

Contrabands The following items counting as illegal goods. If you see any of these in a ship's cargo, you must demand and destroy or take over if it's "living cargo", and fine the transporter. - Artifact - Blood Diamonds - Black Market Munitions - Cardamine - Counterfeit Software - Human Organs - Liquid Cardamine - Nomad and wilde stuffs (like example guns) - Slaves - Synthetic Marijuana

Embargo We are at war with Liberty and normally we don't let noone enter to Rheinland who work for any Liberty corporation or who has good realtion with Liberty (his ship has Liberty corp IFF or he use libertonian ship, equip etc). But our economy need some commodity very much, and our government already made some contract with libertonian firms so we close our eyes sometimes. Here are the list when: Synth Foods transports if these carry Synth Paste or any kind of food. Ageira and Universal Shipping vessels if these carry Gate/Lane parts. Interspace Commerce transporters if these carry to us: - Niobium - Platinum - Polymers - Consumer Goods - Food Rations - H-Fuel - Holo-tainment Bands - Iridium - Luxury Consumer Goods - Oxygen - Pharmaceuticals - Silver - Tobacco - Water - Wine Orbital Spa and Cruise hauling legal Human Cargo (no slaves). AP Manufacturing vesssels (APM tag and IC ID), with any cargo, except contrabands. They have business contract with the government.

Omega Pact

We protect not only Rheinland Government's interest but our civilians and supporter firms too. We keeping our eyes on the mining fields and force everyone to keep up the agreement between the mining corporations which are represents within our operation area. If we catch a miner or a mining team in wrong place, we warn them one time, if they don't leave the area, leaving behind the unduly mined raw materials, we shoot the illegal miners out. If they ran away, we place the ship names into the criminal list.

Operation Areas

The West Rheinland Fleet is a provincial army, so it don't have permission to making military operations in every Rheinland system. Here is the list where can we go without permission. The other Rheinland systems are not forbidden but not our patrol area. We go there if the central forces hire us. Stuttgart system Omega-7 Omega-11 Omega-3 New Berlin - limited Braunschweig - limited

Weapons Selecting the right weapon - its very important to our fighting units, these are the last defence line between death and live for pilots in deep space. Luckily the weapons, produced by Daumann corporation are the best over Sirius. This and some lesser weapon company give us various guns. - Rheinland Weapons - Civilian Weapons - Codenames - BHG weapons - later if we make a contract with Bounty Hunters Guild

Ships

The West Rheinland Fleet - like the Central Fleet - buy his ships and weapons from Daumann corporation, because this firm have the ship building contract with the Rheinland Government. In fighter class we use civilian technologies next Rheinland warships. In heavy class we use only Rheinland vessels.

Light Fighters Though they do not have the firepower or armor of their heavier brothers; the light fighters are still used for a wide array of tasks. Their agility makes them excellent for scouting, interception or anti-bomber vessels.

72-ARKM-G27 "Phantom" Rheinland Light Fighter Rheinland ships are generally known for their power and reliability, more so than their agility. However, of late the newer versions of the Banshee and Valkyrie have been adding more of that power and reliability to their engines. Both ships are using better, lighter metals that are stronger then others, so the naval ship builders can get away with putting less thickness onto the frames. The Phantom in particular is an exception to the Rheinland rule about agility. The ship is relatively lightly armed and armored, but its agility matches that of any light fighter on the market. Anyone expecting the "slow but steady" typical Rheinlanders is going to get a rather nasty shock. Primarily used for police work and interception, the Phantom is a staple of the Military Police units in Rheinland, and deservedly so.

CTE-4000 "Griffin" Civilian Light Fighter Based on the popular Hawk, the Griffin's similar external appearance hides a completely rebuilt interior, with a lighter frame supporting expanded nanobot storage banks and an expanded cargo bay. The wings have been completely restructured, with reinforced armor struts and extra power cell storage to support its superior maneuvering thrusters and enhanced weaponry over its predecessor.

X4TS "Tiger Shark" Rheinland Civilian Light Fighter The Tiger Shark is a unique vessel with its foundations in the bygone days of Rheinland's commercial might, designed as it was to serve the desires of the young, the rich and the reckless as a sporty racing vehicle. Those Sharks seeing modern production are engaged in more militaristic ventures, from escorting Republic convoys to serving as enforcement vehicles for off duty members of the Rheinland Military or Police looking to bring in bounty money by hunting down pirates and dissidents. While considered expensive to some, the Tiger Shark is a solid workhorse vessel capable of delivering plenty of punch to folks wishing to ruin a good day.

Very Heavy Fighters Increased armor and firepower make these vessels the main force of the military; they are used as standard line vessels, fighting the bigger battles or going into deep incursions; this line is here to stay.

90-ARKM-N45 "Wraith" Rheinland Very Heavy Fighter Determined to keep ahead in the arms race between lawfuls and unlawfuls, Rheinland was forced to upgrade its already potent ships. As with the Phantom, the Wraith utilizes several new technologies into the base frame. Improved engines and power-plant, along with lighter and stronger armor make the Wraith surprisingly agile. It's no light fighter, but a skilled pilot can keep it out of enemy fire enough to ensure victory. This vessel is highly restricted, much like its lighter brother. Only elite Military Police units are allowed this expensive craft, along with authorized military personnel.

CTE -6000 "Eagle" Civilian Very Heavy Fighter Few vessels have seen as much popular and widespread use in Sirius as the CTE-6000. With her ease of maintenance, rugged reliability and near universal supply of readily available parts, the nimble Eagle often finds itself in service as the space superiority fighter of choice for pilots ranging from convoy escorts to house terrorists.

Bombers Boasting the best power plant available, this specialized vessel is used against the bigger targets. Capable of carrying heavy weaponry unique to its class they can really do serious damage to slower vessels, but will not last long against faster fighters.

140-ARKM-N58 "Bergelmir" Rheinland Bomber The original N01 Rheinland Bomber was crafted as an almost reflexive move on the part of the Rheinland military to the disasterous losses of their assumingly immortal capital ship fleet at the hands of the GMG during the 80 year war. Pressed with the task of constructing a vessel capable of slipping past blockades to strike at vital supply depots and stations seemingly beyond the reach of the Chancellor's flag fleet. These early bombers were little more than cumbersome energy plants wrapped in armor, built in haste from the scavenged remains of gunboats taken from assembly lines. The modern "Snubnose" Rheinland bomber bears little resemblance to its predecessor. Ultra compact, sleek and possessing the height of Rheinland's renowned reactor technologies, the N58 is a testament to lessons learned and the murderous efficiency of the Chancellor's Military.

13-ARKM-N37 "Fafnir" Bomber The blow struck against Rheinland following the events of the war of 800 A.S. placed a heavy burden on Rheinland's already struggling economy and military might. With her dearly bought fleets reduced to the broken testament to a curious period in humanity's history it seemed as though little could be gained save a lesson. One which Rheinland took to heart. The Fafnir bomber, brought into the field on the immediate brink of a long forseen war is the result of nearly twenty years of studious labor on how to best break the back of a foe's capital fleet... and restore Rheinland's military glory on the field of battle.

CTE-19000 "Roc" Civilian Bomber Ironically labelled a 'civilian' bomber by its Libertonian designers, who also developed such classics as the 'Eagle' fighter, there is little civil about this piece of kit. This ship is now being used by various civilian corporations that find themselves being pirated by gunboats and similar, who purchase this ship from construction yards or build it themselves after acquiring the rights to its patent. Also of note is the rather large amount of these ships found in the possession of criminal organisations such as the Xenos in Liberty and the Golden Chrysanthemums in Kusari space. This may indicate that these groups are able to cannibalise the hulls of their Eagles and modify them to make them into bombers, or that they have more financial support for their military machines than lawmen would have previously imagined. Seen all over Sirius, in the hands of corporations, criminals, Zoners and Freelancers, this bomber is a versatile piece of equipment, handy for those that all-too-often find themselves on the wrong end of big guns.

Gunboats The smallest "capital" class vessel. They are designed for a wide array of tasks. Their weaponry can vary and reconfigured to perform as anti fighter or anti capital ship. Their main use in the WRF is pirate interdiction and anti fighter operations

Rheinland Gunboat This ship is used largely as a tactical support unit, however due to its speed it can also be used as a deep incursion craft for contact teams or recon.

Cruisers Cruisers are used by high ranking officers to command strike squads, or defend important points in combat. Just as the gunboats, cruiser can be used as anti fighter or anti capital ship, or balanced between them. Despite their size and armor, cruisers will not last long without adequate escort to fight bombers.

Rheinland Cruiser This ship class has been produced in large numbers by the Rheinland military and serves as the veritable backbone of the Chancellor's fleet.

Battleships The pride of Rheinland. Battleships carry an incredible array of weaponry, and a super dense armor; Even Bombers have a hard time trying to take their shields and hull. Restricted only to the highest ranking personnel; admiral and vice admirals; these vessels never fly alone, due to them being primary targets for any strike squad. They protect strategic post in space or work as the main command vessels in strikes into enemy territory.

Rheinland Battleship Chief among vessels in the Chancellor's fleet, this class of ship is the tactical "checkmate move" in the operations of the Rheinland military.

Other ships Combat ships are not the only vessels in the military. Armored transports have their part in it too carrying personnel from one place to another, when stealth and heavy armor is required. They are also used to transport special military equipment or repair crews in deep incursions.

204-ARKM-B10 "Ragnar" Rheinland Armored Transport "Ragnar" follows same basic design of Rheinland's transport ships. However, increased power core capabilities, advanced hull plating and powerful weapons array make this vessel unique among transports. Although its main purpose is transporting classified or precious cargo, lately police utilizes several of these ships in effort to cut of smuggler routes.

"Pelican" Civilian Armored Transport The Pelican and its predecessors have served the police forces and travel services of Sirius for centuries, safely ferrying prisoners and tourists to their destination and capable of turning would-be raiders into an impressive fireworks display. Modern Pelicans are built in a wide variety of configurations ranging from prisoner transports and raw material haulers to exploration vessels and luxury yachts. They have recently seen a surge in popularity among freelancers thanks to the specialized Cormorant variant, which allows for a smaller crew and heavier armor than the typical commercial versions
