Class 8 Turrets

Class 8 Turrets are used with Battleships and Battlecruisers. The weapons in this class include the short-range Battleship Secondary Turrets and the Battleship Flak Turrets. These weapons are light-duty compared to the other battleship turret classes. Specifically, the Battleship Primary Turrets are Class 9 Turrets, while the Battleship Heavy Turrets and Battleship Missile Turrets are Class 10 Turrets.
All capital ship weapons do Direct damage, and the shield technology in use by the target does not affect the amount of energy damage that is taken.
Battleship Flak Turrets are energy-based, dumb-fire explosive munitions, similar to missiles, but without any on-board guidance systems. Flaks explode when they hit an object, or when they reach the end of their life. Explosion damage does Direct damage to everything within the explosion radius. This includes any unshielded equipment, such as the target's guns and support equipment, but also includes the attacker if he gets too close. Flak munitions also have a "push" effect that causes anything in the immediate vicinity to be pushed away, which makes these weapons useful for knocking other projectiles off-course. Battleship Flak Turrets do not require ammunition to be purchased.
