|description = The Edinburgh system, also known for being one of the few remaining systems not affected by the bretonian industries, is a small piece of paradise within [[Bretonia]]. The system is relatively young, with several terrestrial planets and two medium sized red-colored nebulas situated on the northern and southern part of the system, an interesting factor of this system is that Edinburgh is the only binary system within [[Bretonia]], due to the system's two twin white dwarfs.

Edinburgh System

Edinburgh is a system lying on the periphery of Bretonian space and once was the frontier of Bretonian exploration and scientific research this side of the Barrier. Expansion into this system by Bretonian backed ventures was not without opposition however. Upon the discovery of Planet Gaia, now widely recognised as a bountiful eden, the Bretonian government were fiercely opposed by environmental activists across their three worlds when plans were unveiled to settle and industrialise the green planet.

When protests were ignored and plans went ahead, many of the more extreme activists opposing them convened to form the eco-terrorist group known as the Gaians. Operating from their base within the Islay Ice Cloud, this group has been largely successful in discouraging Bretonian corporate interest in the system and disrupting many of the ongoing projects there. The Gaians fierce protection of Gaia had put it out of reach of the government for some time, so the Bretonians turned their eyes to what could be salvaged from their investments in Edinburgh; and so began the terraforming of Planet Ayr.

Perth Station was soon constructed and Planetform, Inc. was brought in to vitalise the icy world. This automatically became a new target for the Gaians and efforts to disrupt the project there are still ongoing to this day.

At the beginning of the war with Gallia, the Edinburgh system posed a problem for the Kingdom of Bretonia. It offered a back door into the Bretonian's core systems through Faroe, a system that was predominantly controlled Gaians. With much of the Bretonian fleet engaged in the defense of Planet Harris, the aggressors jumped at the opportunity to seize this flanking position which would be critical in quickening their campaign. The attack groups of Battleship Castres and the Battleship Villeneuve desolated the thinly deployed Bretonian opposition upon their arrival and were stationed at vantage points in the system while the conflict in the Taus waged on.

With the defeat of the Bretonian fleet in Tau 31 the Gallic forces pressed on into the core worlds starting with Leeds. The invaders were quick to use their advantage in Edinburgh to launch a simultaneous attack through the Edinburgh jump gate. The Luxury Liner Shetland was the first corporate operation to relocate prior to the engagement and hastily fled to the Newcastle system. The last remaining bastion of Bretonian control on Aberdeen Border Station was obliterated in the assault. Soon after, technicians on Perth Station surrendered to the Gallic forces who have since taken over control of operations on Planet Ayr.

Now Edinburgh lies under total control of the Gallic Royal Navy whom are partially engaged in fending off occasional raids from the local Gaians. The forces stationed there are expected to use the system and it's connections to other Bretonian worlds in the near future to help bypass the severance of the Leeds - New London Jump gate.

Areas of interest

Nebulaes

Arran Ice Cloud

A small cloud of ice crystals, less stunning than the Islay Ice Cloud, but also less dangerous to tourists given the lack of Gaian attacks.

Islay Ice Cloud

A beautiful cloud of ice crystals surrounding a field of ice asteroids, the Islay Ice Cloud is considered one of the wonders of Sirius. It is also home to a large contingent of Gaian eco-terrorists who frequently attack unprotected Orbital and Planetform transports.

Asteroid Fields

Tain Asteroid Field

A small ice asteroid field, frequently used by the Gaians to stage attacks against nearby Perth Station, where Planetform, Inc. has located operations to terraform the planet Ayr.
