Initially designed as part of a last-ditch effort to compete against the [[Kishiro]] and [[Renzu]] corporations by a faltering [[Samura]], the prototype Irezumi was so well received by [[Kusari]]'s traditionalist groups - Samura's biggest customers - that they offered to serve as test pilots to recieve early access to the ship.
