Heres me in a nutshell,
1. I'm new to posting
2. New to the online freelancer world in general
3. have no clue as to what to do next after reading page after page of rules :sleep: other than to make an
account and see what happens :yahoo:but I will wait just a bit first.

Oh yeah, can anybody give me some pointers as to how to start out and if joining a clan right now would be a good or bad idea. I'd appreciate it very much :D

Welcome to discovery matey!!!
Good thing for you would be to simply create a trader and fly around Sirius. During your trading period you'll encounter multiple faction, and thus have the chance to know them more (if you alternate runs, Otherwise you can simply create a civilian, merc, freelancer, etc, etc and explore).
Or you could simply join a clan right away (there is a section for factions on the forums here), and dive straight into the RP.
Your call.
Go in the tutorials section on the forums, there is a lot of tips for new people here.
Ohh for monkeys there is a planet in Kappa full of them. Watch out we also have a bunch of communist penguins here (Wait for Xing to post, like he always do,,,Spammer!).

If you're interested in checking out how trading factions operate, Gateway has an open convoy policy that lets indie traders fly along with us (and we pay for any escorts) with no obligation toward the faction. It's just a way to get to know people and the way trade can work in Disco.

Join the Hellfire Legion, if you wanna be a Lane Hacker, and if you're Order, check out Black Squadron. Both are awesome.
To start out, make a trader char and trade a bit, gathering money. After you get a good trading ship and 20-30 millions, you can start out a very good outfitted fighter char. Well, you know - 9-10 class weapons, Armor Upgrade MkVIII etc. Join some faction that seems the closest to you in terms of RP and have fun!
