I'm sure this is a recurring question, but I'll ask it anyway. If an NPC from my faction is using a ship, does that mean I can too? Eg, I've seen Gallic Junker NPCs use the Aurochs, but it's not on the Known Gallic Junker Ships list. Does that matter? Or do I need to come up with an RP story as to why I have that ship?
You can use any ship, your ID allows you to. And if there's no restriction in ship infocard(Whale)
From a rules perspective, you are welcome to use any class of ship that your ID permits.

If your ID plus the tech in question isn't a red cell, then there's probably a good reason why you can explain that you have that technology.
Gallic Junkers use the Aurochs freighter because it is of Gallic Civilian manufacture; it is freely available on the market, and the GJ are recognised citizens of Gallia, so it poses no difficulty for them to acquire it.
