In my opinion on all of this, A pirate has the right to destroy you if you don't have the money yes, It would be nice of him to lower or except a lower fee, but the problem with this is many traders try to fool the pirates my telling them "I don't have enough money" or something like "I just bought this ship 5 mins ago and this is my first run" so it's hard for a pirate to tell the truth from the lies basically. As for the pirate sitting at a dock waiting on you, As far as I know he is allowed to do that, but if you undock he has to wait untill he sees you have control of your ship before he can fire on you. The best solution to this is to find a Mercenary around and pay him to take the pirate out which in my opinion it would most of the time be cheaper to pay the pirate. As another guy said you could hire an escort pay them a fair amount or run in convoys.
As far as I am concerned, if the pirate makes a demand each time and you refuse to pay (and are such a dunce as to travel the same route repeatedly where the pirate is hanging out), then he can keep killing you until you either pay or you change your route.
Kuraine, you joined the Fallout avatar revolution:PWelcome aboard:)
Hell yes, I can't wait for Fallout 3 to come out. I was always a major fan of the original two games.
' Wrote:I was trading with my Ship, as trader with a trader ID. I pirat came and wanted 1mill. I didnt have 1mill and that was what I told him. I told him I could give him 250.000, but he didnt want them and distroy my ship. He did it also the 5 next times... The last time I escape and docked... He was waiting outside for about 20min.. and distroyed me again when I came out... He also told me he will destroy me at once each time he see me...
The only thing I see the pirate doing wrong is the last supposed statement by the pirate. It's one thing to pirate the trader each time, but threatening to destroy him at once each time is borderline terrorist or harassment in my book.

Of course, my opinion on this matter is based on incomplete evidence, which would not be enough for any possible administrative actions. Without knowing the whole story, there's not much else to say.
If a trader is stupid enough to return to system of crime then poor them! however if the trader respawns in the system then they should be able to leave the system 'without' cargo asap.
i have experienced soemthing weird today as being a pirate i was with another pirate w tried to tax 2 traders both on diffretn times both refused but 1 of them. gave up and undocked and payed a fine only 300k not much but its fair enough:P then another one came.. ina whale we tried to fine him he refused docked ...instantly while being atacked he had lost shield once already he docked so he had to leave system he didint we stayed at the planet not for camping but also more traders (system with only 3 stop places with tradelanes) he threatend in an verry oorp way like threatening like that 6 vipers mkII would get us i have 2 ss of it but i dont know how to post them (no i wont make accounts on photosites have enuf spam in mail already)
I keep in mind that this is a game we all come here to have fun with. I'll be a good sport and let them leave after I kill them. I try no to charge them too much. depending. If they're 20k away from their dewstination I might abuse them a bit. and charge say....4 mil. Esspecially the Diamound niobium route they know that even if they lose half the profits it's beter than being blown back to the last base and having to do the rout all over again.
Attacking the same trader who is repeadtly taking the risks on the same route is fair for the pirate, how else are they supposed to make their living ?

However waiting for 20 mins at the planet someone has docked/logged of on so you can start hosing them with fire before they even have control of their ship from launching is pretty low and i see plenty of pirates doings this.

Ive been on the receiving end of ' ill kill you everytime i see you and never let you launch/land from anywhere everywhere ' sorta pirate messages myself:(

Ill happily make a deal with a pirate or hand over my goods if the situation is warranted, but i refused to hand out money to people who sit at jumpholes and never type a single line of chat except something like '1mil' over and over, im suprised by the amount of people that refuse to answer in RP or OORP messages when their asking for cash in a 1 word statement over and over - mayhaps i run into lots of pirates that dont speak english....
Keek in mind that a lot of us can't type very fast. If I had it my way I'd start up a conversation while pirating, but alas my typing skills have only advanced so far...
