G'day.

I am wanting to launch my own forum using .co.uk. I have no idea how to begin and will go out to talk to professionals soon. In the mean time, I hope some of you fine people can help.

^ I want this style of forum. Its from AudentioDesign.com and I can buy it from them.

^ I think I need to get this first so that the style of forum I will buy, will be functional such as this forum?

^ These guys will be good to start for hosting to make sure its running and active on the internet I think.. Is the one I've boxed in red and blue, decent enough?

Once I have got them, I have a domain I want that I've checked is free. Once I buy that, is it a done deal and all ready to go? My gut tells me it isn't, in which case, what am I missing?
Just a curiosity before to go forward: why you choose XenForo ? Whay not a free forum script like MyBB ? I mean... if you really want something professional (with payment), probably the best choise is vBulletin. Anyway, Audentio offer a plenty of styles for many platforms.
Do your research before you buy anything. Usually you can get something identical for free and maybe just pay ~£30-40 for a theme if you want.
I am going for XenForo because the skin UI.X is perfect and very smart.

I see... but a theme is not really a sufficient reason to chose a forum script. I'm sure that Audentio can make any of their themes compatible with any other script for less money that you are willing to pay for a XenForo license. Also, later, you will need custom plugins... and these will cost more. So, probably, the advice posted by Birdtalon is a very good one. Don't rush. There are many specialized forums where you can find very useful information in this regard. Just... use something like this.

Wink
Right yeah I'm hearing what you're saying. What's the difference in all of the different forum types? What does Mybb do that something else doesn't and etc etc.. I'm not understanding why there isn't just one.
Maybe this will help you to understand what is a forum script: http://www.forum-software.org/

L.E.: even there are some outdated infos.
if you dont mind, having an extra name in the forum title

http://www.forumotion.com/

these are free and good customisation

here 2 if created using them

I do mind on the extra name in the forum. I just have a fear that its free, for a reason. This forum has massive potential and I want something secure, fast and suitable for something a lot more than a mere 20-50 member gaming forum or whatever. It'll be huge and with hopefully nearing half a million members. I just feel for my ambitious project I need something that'll get the job done no matter what the job. I don't mind paying.
well like i said the ones i made these are free, if you just wanted something.co.uk you can upgrade your free site to a .co.uk,forumotion are very easy to create on there and there's also a huge backup help with tips/tricks for good professional looking sites

instead of paying outright 1st of all for a .co.uk and then finding out a few weeks/months that its not working out, you would of wasted your money on the hosters

if you choose a free site that gives the option to upgrade later then at least you can try out them 1st, and see if it all works out, if it dont then youve lost nothing
