He he he, why should everything be soooo dark?
You should know better, some times you win some times you lose....
Soo imagine that, you could (can) get lucky too. Big Grin
Well when I think little more about bombers, we could solve all bomber problems
if we remove SNAC from them and if we make bomber torpedos more expencive .

Also I think that this is not hard to do.

Wouldn't that solve all bomber problems?

I've got 5 of each type of ship specifically for this purpose.

I can already hear the manic delight of a thousand Solaris boat pilots rubbing their hands together with glee.

If the SNAC ever disappeared, a new method for combatting gunboats - Solarizers in particular - would be sorely needed.

I agree with you that GB weapons aren't well balanced...
I liked old GB weapons more...but becouse of transport weapons GB weap. got buff too..
In my oppinion old GB weapons + 20% range buff would work just fine.
And remember GB should kill bombers, Cruisers should kill GB.

But currently we are talking about bombers.
Ideas like this just makes me stop playing this game, again..
Well, like someone said before in this post, bombers are supposed to kill caps...

Actually, bombers are only good at killing big ships, skilled bombers can kill other stuff too, but only becouse they are skilled compared to theyr oponents, not becouse bombers are "broken".

Caps should not be invincible, this game, a space flight game, is similar to what we had a few years ago in naval battles during WW1 and WW2, big ships are vulnerable to maneuverable small craft with powerfull weapons, or even small craft that fire from far out, so they should have some escort for protection, you dont see an USA carrier in the Persian Gulf without a bunch of escorts and full time surveilance, even if he could level the entire continent with his weapons.

Just remember in WW2 what hapenned to the German Battleship Bismarck when his steering gear was hit by some old little RAF biplanes torpedos, the biggest and most powerfull battleship (i think it was at least), got crippled by some elder crappy biplanes that had only one role at that mission, torp him down, and then he was an easy target.

Actually, when you make caps being vulnerable to bombers, you are actually having a system in which you brake players from only wanting to have caps, its like that game "rock paper scissors", you can have the most powerfull ship, but hey, you have to be carefull too, for there is something out there that can and will beat you.

As i said in another thread, want to fight a gunboat and actually destroy it in a decent amount of time, logging another gunboat should be the answer.

why does the idea of fighting gunboats with gunboats seem so foreign to people.

bombersbombersbombers.
@OP:

I think Spazzy has a point in critizising the bomber as a very powerful ship class. Especially the smaller ones that can also stay alive when under snub fire are close to "jack of all trades".

argument:

Sorry, no skill involved in bombing BS. Nova, Nova, Nova... means: press a key, win. There is NOTHING like skill involved.

I don't know whether price would fix it, but bombers imo ...

> ...should pack a punch
> ...should die to fighters reliably and faster than now
> ...should also be able to hit GBs (which has become almost impossible with the GB Solaris)

At the moment, you can do whatever you want as a CAP: bombers will slay you (with nothing you can do), even if you have fighter cover. Why? Because I can't care less about fighters on my tail when all I have to do is "point into the general direction and press "Torpedo" key".

Because GB-GB fights at the moment are damn stupid. It's "Solarize!!!! Solarize!!!"
And: The GB that teakes heavy damage in the fight always dies afterwards, which means "Fight over" for you. That's why people hesitate to bring GBs. It always means "your fun ends", after you did your job for the team.
