Let's say I'm engaging enemy forces with my fighter, but they have gunboats and other capital ships. The server crashes, and I have the chance to switch to a larger ship to even the playing field. When the server comes back up, would I be allowed to do so, or would I have to come back in a fighter?

A devastating ion storm front swept across my fighter's cockpit, knocking me unconcious from the magnetic force. Blinking my eyes into focus as I awoke, I found myself lying on the hangar floor of Fort Bush!
"You're awake." A scruffy looking Junker grumbled as I propped myself up on shaky arms. "Found your ship floatin' out around the debris field and towed you in on my CSV."
Quickly thanking the man, I jogged down the hangar to my moored gunboat I left here on Bush.
