HI

As we all know some weapons do more damage on graviton/positron or molecular shields than on other types of shields.

Does anyone know which types are likely to be most encountered as one moves out of the starting Liberty system? I am supposing rogues tend to use positron specialist weaponry (justice style weapons) but i am not sure.

Choosing the right shield to use before going into battel could be crucial -- though I am not sure how much of a difference in damage absorbed it makes.
Rogues use lasers. Gravitron provides better protection. Outcast and Xeno weapons are covered better by a positron shield however.

It doesn't matter all too much that early on, though.
Best thing to do is to fly around and see what the NPCs are using. If a player is in RP then they should be using the some of the same weps the NPCs use. Bear in mind though that many people use codename weapons and those guns don't care what shield you have.

The effectiveness of gun vs. shield goes by a multiplier. So when the infocard says a shield is weakest against a certain type that means that type of gun gets a 1.2 dmg multiplier vs. that shield. If the shield is strong against a certain gun then the multiplier is .8.

EXAMPLE: Laser weapons are weak against graviton. So take the Adv. Flashpoint which does 47.7 shield dmg. Against a graviton it would be 38.16 (47.7 x .8). However against a positron shield it is strong doing 57.24 shield dmg (47.7 x 1.2).
Excellent reply, Monk.

And much more informative than mine, I'll be leavin' now.

:D
I always use a Graviton-based shield on my characters due to the absurd prevalence of Pulse-type weapons.
