hi,

as a shameless hype for Disco wiki which some people are working on very hard and a genuine plea for help Wiki could use your exquisite knowledge of the Disco world.

You can do A or B.

The vastly better option IMO:
A) Register at wiki and do it yourself!

And the second best option:
B) Give the details here and let someone who is already involved in it to do the dirty work of a secretary for you.

What info is needed?
Commodity name and system where it can be mined. Don't give up the exact location so it lets people to discover themselves. Check out the info ALREADY in place first before submitting your answers. Thank you.

Those who decide to lend a hand getting the wiki done before the next century. Please, please, PLEASE read the http://discoveryfl.com/wiki/index.php/Style_Guide before starting to do anything. If you got questions either post them here http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=21033 (has become a sort of wiki thread what's new and for discussion) or discuss in the Article's discussion tab.

Thank you once again for making someone else's life easier.
I dont see any point in minng, unless it got fixed in next versions... If you mine... with current FLhook, you cant get more than 1 mineral drop from one rock...applies even on scrap metal, so mining 100 pieces of anything takes way too much time... we can gope that prices or drops or something will be changed in next version, to make it more atractive.

That's not really what I was asking.

Anybody?
To whom it may concern,

Your interest in hobbyist mining is understandable. Mining is one of the most noble and ancient tasks to which a man can apply himself. However, let me forewarn you that the intricacies of deep space mining are far more nuanced than it may first appear. Simply telling people in which system to find what will lead to certain frustration and failure.

Why, how will they know when to use a simple niobium-reinforced diamond drillbit versus a boron cutting laser? I can't really recommend anything but the most basic of mining tasks for inexperienced people. Before you know it, you'll have VIP's demanding every Spa & Cruise hire Freelancers to escort them on a mining "getaway" vacation, someone forgets which end of the plasma torch goes into the rock, and we've got a whole new heap of unnecessary safety regulations and sanctions on us.

Between the oppressive Basic Mineral Transportation Tax in Liberty space, to the dangerous routes, there's hardly enough at the end of the day to refuel and start all over. The government's had its hand in our pocket too deep, for too long. More miners will only make it worse.

I would like to mention the following additions to the currently listed commodities/locations:

Diamonds: Also available in Omega 11, although you'll probably spend more on repairs than you get from the diamonds you mine there.
Niobium: Tau 23, Tau 37, and Leeds
Silver: Also available in Omega 7.
Water: Also available in Cortez, Tau 29, California, Cambridge, Manchester, and other locations as well. Pretty much anywhere along the Barrier Asteroid Field.
Beryllium: Small pockets are available in Tau 23.
Hydrocarbons: Omega 3, Manchester, and Tau 29.
Alien Organisms: Omicron Theta
Gold: Dublin (Small pockets in Omega 7?)
Artifacts: Omicron Gamma (heaven help you if the Corsairs or Lawfuls catch you, though)
Copper: Also available in Omega 7
Cobalt: Omega 7

I think there are scrap metal pockets in Texas, as well.

And yes, this is all from memory and personal discovery. I'm sure I'll be able to remember more once I get on one of my miner characters.

While I appreciate you protecting your business interests, I can inform you that many people in Liberty, and I suspect further, are interested in mining. Having this knowledge more freely accessible will open up a whole lot of employment opportunities, what with transportation, smeltering, shaping, manufacturing, weapons and ammunition grading, Quality control, Mining business operation and management, medicinal experience, regulation oversight, production factory management. And indeed I can inform you from first hand experience that I would have paid for this information, and even there, there is an opportunity for on-the-ball entrepreneurs in information brokerage.

What better way to weed out those who cannot mine to save themselves, and those with the where-with-all to find that gold or that oxygen? It takes skill dedication and patience, and those who fail to have those virtues will undoubtedly seek fortune elsewhere - Leaving the fields open to those who are interested in Mining.

I invite you to see the results for yourself upon completion of the Sirius Knowledge Bank.

Okay, I have confirmed the Water fields in Manchester and Cambridge, as well as a Hydrocarbon field in Manchester. The Gold pockets in Omega 7 are in doubt, but there are Copper and Cobalt pockets there.
