Hi everyone,

I'm new to discovery, but not new to FL. I used to play years ago on the jolt.co.uk server and later on the NiMa server (great mod to be honest) with the BPS. In 2007 i suddenly decided to get Freelancer back from the shelf and i started playing on the 24/7 Freelancer Universe (better known as FLU) server. I really enjoyed my stay there with the guys from Avalanche. Now after the holidays and my start of my school year (i'm for my school now learning for 6 months in a company (i study elektrotechnics)) i'm going to start Freelancer again :yahoo:but now on a really good RP server (at least that was the last thing i heard about this server).

Some personal stuff:
Male.
20 years old.
I live in the Netherlands (Breda for the ones who know it).
6 feet 4 (1.97m)
love to play volleyball
Nickname: Sentrosi (from the start of my MMO experience about 6 years ago till now).

Freelancer stuff:
I really prefer Bretonnia and the Tau's.
I don't like Pirating, taxing, smuggling. I really HATE TAX! i won't pay tax, i will fight till my death even when i'm in a freighter with loads of goods on board, i won't pay it, never, i just fight till the end.
I like escorting, missions (solo and group), trading.
To be honest, i need a lot of practice on my fighting skills, i'm really slow, on a eagle i'm slower with everything then ANYONE in a titan.
As a fighter i like missles combined with Shield busters, i used to be pretty good with torpedo's too.
As a trader i like RP trading, in a dromedary flying from everywhere to Bretonnia and back as long as i come in Bretonnia i'm cool with it. You must love the dromedary.
My favourite system is Leeds, i love the planet Leeds.
Ingame name: Sentrosi, anything combined with Sentrosi (Complete name is Sentrosi Rahl)

hi and welcome to discovery!! I hope you enjoy it here, and i suggest you join a faction to get started, maybe a basic one like Outcasts or the Colonial Remnant (in the taus, IMG ID). CR have colonial ships from BSG, so come quick if you want to fly a viper:D.

i think im newer than you but its great to have another experienced player join the server..

about the paying a tax to pirates if you get pirated.... well.. actually, in rp terms they kind of prefer you to pay a small tax should you get held up. in rp terms, its viewed that you really are a captain of a hugely expensive (~$100 million) vessel and in rp, you would really pay say $2 million to prevent the loss of the vessel.

So .. maybe you can fight back, but pirates wont like you if you fight and they may tax you more. If you do fight and are losing, you might have to surrender.. In truth, pirates have characters who are all traders too, so they play pirate, often not to really make money but for the fun of rping it....

anyway, im not a pirate since im pretty hopeless in combat..

but that was just some thoughts on pirate taxing..

(ps -- im sure there are some dedicated pirates in it for the money. Many of the more seasoned traders will hire bounty hunter or merc help if a pirate threatens them by sitting on trade route)

Of course they prefer that you just pay the tax no questions asked. I'm not sure but normally you have an insurance on every vessel right? That's the reason (at least i think that in rp thoughts) that you can start again with a vessel when you get destroyed. I actually don't mind paying a tax of 2m, if i fly a 100m + ship, but i do mind paying 2m tax if i fly say a dromedary, i will fight till the end, if i lose, well i lose and get destroyed, the goods are in space for the pirates to collect (that's their win then instead of hard easy cash) and i start with no cargo in my hold with my new (same style, equipment etc.) ship because my insurance pays for that.

So i think that paying taxes is a rp but not paying for them is also a rp. Except ofcourse clans/factions taxing in their system for the passage through or something like that, then it's totally normal to pay, but when pirates sitting on routes are taxing i don't think it is (well for me then).

I think not paying the "tax" or RPing your way out of Paying it, is fun. There are ways around Pirates.
I seen Gorva walk away with cargo and not having paid. There is runnig, RPing excusses....
