A lot of people have been complaining about the role play here lately, or the lack thereof. I like the faction system here with the IFF and ID system but it does have the potential to create what have been come to be so affectionately called 'cap whores' and 'pvp whores'.
I would like a clan rather than a faction because I believe in the balance of the server and there are 2 issues I cant stress enough about balance that were built into the system. The first is CM's. The larger trade ships dont have them. Its for a reason. You shouldn't be traveling alone in a huge freighter. thats why its easier to kill.
the second is the fact that generic ID's can only have a gunboat or smaller. they have more freedom in their choices of weaponry and ships, but no cruisers/battleships. I think this is brilliant ballance. A handful of smaller ships can take out a BS in seconds, but one or 2 is virtually useless.
So here is what I propose:
A legit business that is a cover up for an illegal operation. This would require the following generic ID's:
1. Trader
2. Merc
3. Smuggler
4. Pirate
There would be room for all sorts of characters to role play in there, for example
1. A trader who is 100% lawful and doesent even know about the illegal operations.
2. An unlawful merc who wants to 'fool' police by being seen escorting legit traders but escort smugglers and take 'illegal' contracts behind their backs.
3. a smuggler that doesent powertrade, that actually takes the safe route.
4. A pirate whose job is to obtain weapons and other 'hard to get items', a liason between the underground and the (semi) legit.
I would like to make it more of a democracy than a benovolant dictatorship but need feedback first. I have the basic roleplay worked out so that one could insert any kind of character into the story.
yes/non maybe so?
